Hi Ooznoz, please (re)read WP:BRD. Once the person who made the objection to 'grandfather' conceded by changing it back to grandfather, consensus was achieved. the proper thing for you to do if you disagreed with it would have been to re-open the discussion on the talk page and state your argument based on policy, not introduce yet another version of "ancestor" into the synopsis against what was basically consensus for a few hours. It now so happens that the point is now moot because Dresken has found new sources which leave the relationship open to question. As has already been stated, without a reference, we cannot infer any sort of relationship based on blood or anything else, and since the sources now contradict each other, that means we can't put anything there at all other than that they share a surname.
