Hi, SeventhHaido, welcome to WikiProject LGBT Studies!

We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles of interest to the LGBT community. Some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve LGBT-related articles, so if someone asks for help with an article, please try your hardest to help them if you are able.
  • Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, peer review and a project-wide article collaboration, all of which you are welcome to take part in. We also have a unique program to improve our lower quality articles, Jumpaclass, so please consider signing up there.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign LGBT topics.
  • If you're planning to stay, have a square in our quilt! You can put anything you want in it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome!

Trigun[edit]

Just FYI: Those edits on Trigun were not my work, but I felt their deletion was not justified, so I restored them. ++Arx Fortis 15:23, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks anyway. When people vandalize the article by removing the section on relationships just because of their own misgivings, I usually revert to pre-vandalism, which means taking out anything else done in the meantime. It sucks, but I'm hoping people eventually get the message that their own homophobia isn't a reason to edit out a legitimate perspective on a possible angle in the manga. ~SeventhHaido 04:24, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting a purely speculative section of an article that is supposed to be UNBIASED and not fanon, isn't vandalism. That Japanese spider crab article was a joke, and that's the only vandalism that I can think of. I was bored. Everything else I have done is completely serious. I have no problem with gay guys, but I DO have a problem with gay guys who call everyone else gay, and say things like "Everyone's at least a little bit bisexual." Wolfwood slept with Merryl. Vash has loved Rem from the start. Wolfwood and Vash were CLOSE FRIENDS and that's all. Just because you're a wappanese yaoi fanboy doesn't mean that every male character in anime, whether you've "analyzed" the manga or not, is gay. Why can't two men love each other PLATONICALLY? Notice how most other people keep deleting that section. I'm glad I haven't been able to find it in the article yet. Wikipedia is supposed to be objective. That means not callng everyone gay based on your idealistic fanon where everyone in anime is gay/bi. Only in yaoi, and other manga specifically meant to be about homosexual relationships, are characters gay/bi. I also note that you didn't cite your sources. You aren't a professional book critic. When you find evidence that supports your fanon, you're supposed to cite your sources. And not with the section of the manga where they say so. With critical outside evidence. Like a book critic sharing your opinion. So, find me a critic (and NOT one of your stupid gay lovers from a Trigun forum) who has the same findings that you do, or an interview with Nightow, and I'll stop deleting it. ForestAngel 08:53, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And how was my removing of the section a personal attack? I've only personally attacked ONE person, who was a real asshole. ForestAngel 08:57, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

See, I can prove that you're not allowed to do that and you need sources. Wikipedia:No original research. Calling anime characters gay is original research, even with quotes from the manga, and therefore, biased. You are violating Wikipedia rules for articles, thereby lowering the quality and value of the article. Have you ever looked at the disclaimer for each edit? It says "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable." Not with quotes from the book, or pure speculation of quotes within the book, but verifiable from an outside, unbiased source. For example, a verifiable source would be Nightow saying something along the lines of "Vash and Wolfwood are gay lovers" in an interview. If you keep putting that section of the article up, I will have no choice but to put a banner up questioning the neutrality of the section every time that you do. ForestAngel 09:24, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I saw the link to mentioned. That looks like marketing that were altered to reflect a "western" style of denoting the $$. It looks like that was done sometime after the series was produced. I'm traveling on business at the moment, but when I return home I will get a screenshot of the way its shown in the opening sequence and post it to the article. Thanks for showing me the link. ++Arx Fortis 22:33, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please, take your homophobic and uninformed verbal diarrhea to a proper disposal location. I have no need for it here. Why are you so angry about this anyway?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability says nothing about third-party primary sources being unverifiable. Citing the manga itself, in an article about it, is perfectly allowable per Wikipedia policy. The only way it would need additional third party verification would be if I was Yasuhiro Nightow. Since I am not him, citing the manga is more than enough, as it is the primary source for information on itself. ___________________________________________________________________

Saying that you're Nightow is plagiarism, not original research. Original research is claiming that you're an authority on the subject. "Third-party primary sources" is an oxymoron. Primary means first. The verifiable part isn't about whether it's in the manga or not. The verifiable part is about the opinions and interpretation, not whether or not they say those quotes. If you can find an external source (like I said, a book critic) who says the words "Vash's and Wolfwood's sexuality and relationship is up to the reader's speculation," then I'll accept it. The published manga has weight with quotes, but NOT with amateur interpretation and criticism. If you seek book critics, that's not original research. Original research is claiming to be an authority on the subject.

I am NOT homophobic. I have gay friends, and I love them to death. I DON'T like when people tell me what sexuality I am when they don't even know me. I completely support gay rights and marriage. So don't call me a bigot when you don't even know me. I just don't like yaoi. ForestAngel 11:12, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

____________________________________________________________________

Your personal thoughts on yaoi have no more weight than mine, no matter how much of a bigot you wish to be, and being louder and more angry does not equate to being right. However, the published manga does have some weight in an article that happens to be about it.

Nor does it fall under the original research prohibition. It would fall under said prohibition if I was Nightow, if I interviewed him or interviewed someone who worked on the translation, if I sought the reviews of book critics, or if I did anything else you're suggesting, I would be doing original research. I quoted the manga itself as a primary source and tried to compose a non-list section of events in it suggesting a male/male relational subtext between Wolfwood and Vash.

Fine, put up your neutrality banner. I'm going to revert your sock's edit right now, and unless you can prove that I'm Nightow or that primary source material cannot be cited in articles about it, you're looking more and more like a angry fanbrat who needs to get some perspective. Step away from the computer a while.

By the way, Wolfwood slept with Milly/Millie in the anime, not with "Merryl." Which is spelled "Meryl." Also, Wolfwood did not sleep with Milly OR Meryl in the manga. ~SeventhHaido 10:39, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I realized my mistake about the name minutes after I turned my computer off, (I was really really tired) but I decided to just go to sleep. My mistake. ForestAngel 10:58, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm sorry to bother you, but as a LoCE member, I just wondered if you would be willing to have a look through the Sheerness article. It is currently a Featured Article Candidate and needs a copy-edit for grammar by someone who hasn't yet seen it. Any other ways to improve the article would also be welcome. Thank you very much, if you can. Epbr123 12:23, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CVU status[edit]

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! Fake? needs references[edit]

As you have expressed interest in improving Japanese rock articles, will you go see what you can do about adding reliable sources to the Fake? article? I've marked it as needing references, but some anon and a new editor keep removing the tag. Therefore, it would be extremely helpful if you could help add references to the article. I've never heard of Fake? until now, so I'm not sure where to even look for info. Thanks! ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:08, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would, but that band isn't one I'm familiar with. I'm more familiar with Gackt and hyde and L'Arc~en~Ciel, for example.

LGBT WikiProject Newsletter[edit]

Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there.
The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors.

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:33, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
