Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Infopage100, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Wild Youth (album), may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Cahk (talk) 08:17, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Wild Youth (album) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you recently added commentary to an article, Talk:Adventure Time (season 7). While Wikipedia welcomes editors' opinions on an article and how it could be changed, these comments are more appropriate for the article's accompanying talk page. If you post your comments there, other editors working on the same article will notice and respond to them, and your comments will not disrupt the flow of the article. However, keep in mind that even on the talk page of an article, you should limit your discussion to improving the article. Article talk pages are not the place to discuss opinions of the subject of articles, nor are such pages a forum. Thank you. Cahk (talk) 08:19, 23 January 2016 (UTC) .[reply]

Re: New album feb. 26. 2016 posting on Talk page of List of 2016 albums

Go ahead and enter the data yourself of List of 2016 albums. Just look at how others have done it, and try it. Take a look at the history of the edits (look at a day or two worth of differences), and see how entries were made. Or just throw the data in, and someone like me will correct it or delete it, depending on the quality of the citation. YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter are unacceptable. Commercial sites like iTunes or Amazon are not the best, but work. Journal entries like Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Blabbermouth, or NME are great. But just asking other people to do the work for you rarely works. I have been watching and editing the list and the previous list for a couple of year, and the few times someone has asked in the talk section for someone else to do the work for them, I have never seen it done. Great work creating new pages

[edit]

Infopage100, you posted to my personal page that you have been creating articles about songs by Steve Angello. I took a look at a couple of the pages you did and they look great. I am glad you got the confidence to dive in and edit and create the articles. Wikipedia is built on the strength of the contributors, and people generally have passion on their favorite subjects and are willing to create and improve the articles they take ownership in. I know there are also people who just like messing things up, but as you can see by what Wikipedia has become, the creators and defenders outlast and override the destroyers. I love what Wikipedia is, and I am glad you have joined the community has a good editor and creator. Keep up the good work. Mburrell (talk) 19:52, 19 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. A tag has been placed on Waysons (Swiss DJs) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on a biased choice of users' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote—in order to influence Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Candyland (musician). While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Wikipedia's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. Thank you. Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman - Possible support

[edit]

Infopage100, It always irritates me how some editors feel the need to hold a strict notability template up to every article. I agree with most that the article is borderline, but for me, anything within stones throw of borderline should be kept, not discarded. I do agree that most of the references you or someone supplied for the article are crap. Do not use YouTube unless it is a clip of a news show or a significant news coverage of the group. Otherwise, just don't. Also, don't use social media such as Facebook, Twitter, or any of the others. Searching on Google, there is one very good news article, which you already have, Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman Announce Label Buce Records, Single 'Running' (Music Times). Another article I found that should count is DIMITRI VANGELIS & WYMAN X STEVE ANGELLO – PAYBACK (ORIGINAL MIX) (Daily Beat). A third article is Yves V vs Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman Drop “Daylight” (EDM ID). A fourth website is Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman presentan ‘Daylight’ junto a Yves V (EDM Spain), which also shows international coverage. That is four good citations, so per Wikipedia: Notability(music\Criteria for musicians and ensembles), which requires "Musicians or ensembles (this category includes bands, singers, rappers, orchestras, DJs, musical theatre groups, instrumentalists, etc.) may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria: Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself." I don't know how much counts as significant, but then neither does anyone else, it is a vague term. Try listing these four citations, purging the bad citations, and just clean up the article. Tell the AfD reviewers that you have four good citations which could satisfy the requirements, and then tell them to be generous if they can. This article is on the bubble, so give it a chance. Mburrell (talk) 04:23, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Reply - Thank you so much for the advice @Mburrell:! Even though it's great to have people edit a page for you, it's better to have people teach you how to do it yourself. In the end, you might only be able to rely on your own skills when there's no one else available. Once again, thank you. It means a lot.

Infopage100 (talk) 11:01, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I realise you're trying to help these pages, but adding countless youtube, beatport, soundcloud, itunes, amazon and other such links to them as references really doesn't help the matter, it just makes it more difficult for future editors and readers alike. Perhaps a single source in the discography section / table would be fine but anything further than that is just a waste of your time. What would be useful in these instances are actual reviews, not just simple press releases. Nikthestunned 12:05, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You are using your user page as a personal blog (or a digital notepad as you claim), listing your favourite songs and messages. That is not what it is for. Listing the pages you have edited however is. If you copyedit your page to include only that it will be fine. Karst (talk) 13:30, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Karst:, where am I supposed to put all that stuff then? And why is it that no one bothered me about anything I did on Wikipedia before I became an extended confirmed user???? Ever since I received that label, everybody is either harassing me for what I do in the present, or harassing me for something I did months and sometimes almost a year prior. Nobody facked with me before. And yes, I meant to say, "fAck." Anyways, seriously, am I on somebody's watchlist???Infopage100 (talk) 17:38, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
A quick FYI, the reason I took a look at your recent contributions was that you called me into a deletion discussion for an article which was clearly not notable and had 50+ inappropriate references which you'd added. (i.e., Nothing to do with being confirmed) I'm pleased to see you've not added any more since that note above!
Also, please note what Magnolia said below as I had to fix this once more. Nikthestunned 23:21, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose because you appear to be closely associated with two recently banned users, you have been on the radar of other seasoned editors. Rest assured that I do not see anything specificly troublesome in your editing behaviour that it needs the attention of administrators. However, some of your contributions need fine tuning. That happens to us all (myself included). It is a learning process, but please do heed the advice other editors give you (see below). I suppose other, more experienced editors will get a little cranky when they have to mop up some of the issues at AfD and elsewhere. I would encourage you to ask any questions, especially about sourcing, at the Teahouse. It is a great place to get help. Karst (talk) 08:28, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Murda (Candyland song) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. SPIs

[edit]

Dear @Karst:, I just now read the SPI investigation about me. Thankfully, the case is closed; as I in the aftermath, have been proven to be completely unrelated to @Rezawler:. If you've read the archive, you know that as well. Having that been said, please do not associate me with anyone else rather suspicious. I'm trying to stay out of trouble so that I can qualify for the "Standard Offer." I may have been a sockpuppet guy previously, but I'm pretty reluctant about repeating foolish behaviour. I will note that the points you argued are reasonable. Though, know that Rezawler and anyone else new is NOT me. I'm not trying to get into anymore trouble. So please consider this message. A question

[edit]

Meant to be perceived merely as an innocuous question, @Bbb23:, why did you revert my recent inquiry? Infopage100 (talk) 12:11, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Anachronist

[edit]

@Anachronist:, I'm not allowed to edit other talk pages because I'm blocked, and a certain admin reverts a lot of messages I write via my talk page, so that's why I sent you an email instead. Sorry. Infopage100 (talk) 12:33, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I received your email. I prefer to keep Wikipedia business on Wikipedia, out in the open, and not in email unless personal information is involved. I didn't see anything in your email that couldn't have been put on this talk page, so you can do that if you're comfortable.
The WP:Standard offer, if you accept it, is to refrain from creating alternate accounts for six months. That's the deal.
TheMagnificentist was blocked for disruptive behavior, treating Wikipedia as a battleground. He began editing constructively from new accounts only after being blocked. In his case, the sockpuppet accounts were doing good work and they were the least of my concerns in light of the original reason for blocking, which was how he conducted himself. If he cannot keep his promise to behave in a collaborative manner, rest assured he will be re-blocked.
Your situation is different. You were blocked for sockpuppetry. You appeared to be using multiple accounts from the get-go, deliberately appearing as multiple editors in AFD discussions, and Bbb23 was correct in blocking you for that. The only valid test to ensure that won't happen again is to see if you can step back from Wikipedia without creating new accounts for a time, and that time has been established at six months.
Now, you might be able to make a case for yourself, based on the email you sent to me. It wouldn't hurt to try, but don't be disappointed if the unblock request fails. Please understand that because I am now considered WP:INVOLVED after a fashion, I would not be comfortable either supporting or opposing you, I am neutral. ~Anachronist (talk) 16:45, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reply: - Ok. Does that mean after six months, if I haven't used any sockpuppets, I will be unblocked? Or will merely qualify to be unblocked. Infopage100 (talk) 07:12, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It means, if you haven't engaged in any sockpuppetry for six months, a request for unblock at that time will be considered seriously, and not dismissed. There's no countdown timer on an indef block, so unblocking won't happen automatically. You have to request it. ~Anachronist (talk) 21:52, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks.

[edit]

Thank you @TheMagnificentist: for supporting me overall. Also, congratulations being unblocked! And thank you for saving the page I created for Candyland. Candyland.

[edit]

The Candyland (musician) article has been mutilated much to my anger. Important history about the person and her past has been purged from the page; part of the discography has been deleted. I mean, if you wanted to know anything about Candyland, you sure won't know much now. @TheMagnificentist:, look at this page, Candyland (musician)! You know what it looked like before. When was it a good idea to erase history about a living human being!? Does this happen often? Answer soon. Thank you. Infopage100 (talk) 15:50, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously??!!

[edit]

@TheMagnificentist:, someone redirected basically all of the singles from Wild Youth (album) to that album. I mean, seriously??? Ever since I became an "extended confirmed user" everything I've created has been destroyed! Is there anything that I can do, TheMagnificentist?

Infopage100 (talk) 16:49, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The singles were redirected because they were not independently notable. You could wait for your standard offer and then try to resolve the issues later on by trying to look for sources that can establish notability. - TheMagnificentist (talk) 16:57, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Bbb23:, I believe this user probably means WP:SO. While I'd like a bit more detail in the unblock request, my first concern is that this is a checkuser block, and so you (or perhaps another checkuser) should first confirm there's no evidence of block evasion. Can you please check this and indicate whether or not you have an objection to lifting the block under the terms of WP:SO (after confirming the user understands WP:BLOCK and WP:SOCK and discloses any sockpuppet accounts they were using)? --Yamla (talk) 18:21, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Infopage100:, before we think about unblocking you, I ask you do the following. Please describe your understanding of WP:SOCK and how it applies to your situation. Please list all the accounts you used. I also see you've had a number of problems with WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:FU, along with WP:CITE and WP:RS, so please briefly summarise these policies so we can be sure you won't violate those if we lift the block. The goal here is to convince us that you understand why your previous behaviour was inappropriate and so we can be sure it won't repeat if we lift your block. --Yamla (talk) 18:34, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Yamla:, I was blocked for using multiple accounts; sockpuppeting. The accounts I created and used inappropriately were User:AppleCrumby16 and User:Sherfolk001. While I was blocked, I created an account by the name, Infopage100 on the Simple Wikipedia. Is that considered block evasion? I don't recall running into any problems with WP:COPYRIGHT or WP:FU. But if I have, (if I'm unblocked), I could just avoid uploading any material here; thus, preventing me from any further violations of the copyright and free content policies. ??? :/ Infopage100 (talk) 04:24, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Yamla:, can I be unblocked now? Infopage100 (talk) 23:00, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You have not yet addressed WP:CITE and WP:RS. Note that just avoiding uploading any material would not guarantee you are free of violations of WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:FU, so you will need to read and summarise those policies. --Yamla (talk) 00:04, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Reply to Yamla

[edit]

Alright @Yamla:, I read WP:CITE, WP:COPYRIGHT, WP:FU and WP:RS. So, here I go.

Basically, if you're going to add a reference to your claims, don't just add the link — instead, do the following: identify the link (reference), using necessary information, which may include a publication date, source title, author, etc. Also, write your link (reference) in the predominant style of the article.

I read it, but don't understand it. Could you consicely explain the copyright policies to me? :/

All media files that do not carry a free content license should meet the following ten Wikipedia terms:

1. No free equivalent

If the non-free file is necessary, and no other file equal to it is available, use it.

2. Respect for commercial opportunities

I don't know what this means. :/

3. Minimal usage

Don't bring an art museum to describe a grape — one picture will do. :)

4. Previous publication

In other words, on Wikipedia, you can only upload pictures that have been publicly used elsewhere. Pictures that are private or are exclusive to certain social media profiles shouldn't be used.

5. Content

Content must be encyclopedic and must follow Wikipedia content standards.

6. Media specific policy

Non-free content must meet Wikipedia's media specific policies.

7. One-article minimum

Your content must be in at least ONE Wikipedia article.

8. Contextual significance

Basically, content should only be added if it is essential to the article. For example, a picture of a grape in an article about a grape.

9. Restrictions on location

Non-free content is only allowed in Wikipedia articles and article namespace. Does that mean if you add an existing file to your user page, you'll be in trouble?

10. Image description page

When uploading an image, you'll be asked to describe your picture with necessary information such as the artist, publisher, copyright holder, year of copyright, original source, etc... I've been here before, so I definitely understand this rule. ;)

Reliable sources are, in so many words, respected and trusted sources. For example, if you were writing about an album's commercial success, you would back up your claims with a Billboard article instead of some random blogger's article. This is because Billboard is a mainstream company, and it has a reputation to keep; thus, journalists for Billboard make sure to fact check everything they say, and write with a neutral point of view.

I did my best to address these policies as concisely as possible. :)

@Yamla:, are we good now? Can I be unblocked? :D

???

[edit]

@Yamla:, I sent you a message, addressing the wiki policies, but I never heard back from you. Would you please review my summary of the wiki policies (under my unblock request), and see if I am ready to be unblocked.

I would deeply appreciate it.

You still have not yet shown an understanding of WP:COPYRIGHT. As such, I'm no longer interested in working with you toward an unblock. You are very welcome to have another admin look into your situation, though. --Yamla (talk) 12:56, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Yamla:, I already stated on my unblock request that I didn't understand it, but I also asked if you could concisely explain it to me. Remember?

Infopage100 (talk) 15:02, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I remember. And I'm disappointed you can't take the time to read and understand our policies, given your history of violations. I'm done here but I chose not to decline your unblock request; you are welcome to reinstate it and another admin will review your request. --Yamla (talk) 19:01, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
