He never fought in the Persian Wars because he would have been about five years old at the time of the first invasion and fifteen at the time of the second. He led Athens in the early years of the Peloponnesian War, but did not win any "decisive victories." He is chiefly known for having led at classical Athens at the peak of its political prominence. undo
