==Controversy==

On 24 May 2011, Ryan Sohmer, author of the webcomic [[Least I Could Do]], wrote a forum post about the alleged controversy surrounding The Dating Guy. During the posting, he mentioned that he had been in talks for four years with Canadian network Teletoon regarding the creation and airing of a Least I Could Do animated series. After four years and citing several issues primarily with the network's "requests" to changes, Sohmer took his idea and allowed the contract to expire. According to him, the network then gave "his" idea - both conceptual and artistic - to another group to create The Dating Guy. Sohmer's claim came at the same time that he asked for help in raising the money needed to create a pilot episode of Least I Could Do as an animated series, promising to match "dollar for dollar" the amount raised. While requesting only $75,000, he was able to pull together over $100,000 from fan-based submissions.[http://forums.leasticoulddo.com/index.php?showtopic=33882]
