I just tried to create account "YYu" (figured because "Yyu was registered in 2005 and never edited, there's no harm) but it told me I couldn't because I'm not an admin. Happy Independence Day!

As you are a nice Wikipedian, I just wanted to wish you a happy Independence Day! And if you are not an American, then have a happy day and a wonderful weekend anyway!  :) Your friend and colleague, --Happy Independence Day! Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 04:27, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there - thank you for closing this AfD as a Keep - I plan to keep working on that article and others on similar subjects. I notice the AfD tag is still on Ashley Cheadle; I'd remove it, but as I'm not a sysop, I don't want to step on toes or leave out any closure steps by doing so. Do you want to take care of it or want me to give it a shot? All the best. Townlake (talk) 06:07, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:HAU, Status, and you!

As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible system) - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. This message was delivered by xenobot 23:11, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A little administrative help

There is someone behind the ips 75.169.147.181 and 75.169.157.42 who advertises a translation and constantly inserts inappropriate comments in the article of the New World Translation (see here). Can you help me with this situation, because I don't know what else to do to make him understand that original research and advertisements are not allowed. Thanks for your time in advance.--Vassilis78 (talk) 15:33, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If Israel has made a statement about the missile being a threat, and it's in the updated article, then we can mention it that way in the ITN entry, for example ", perceived as a threat by Israel". — BRIAN0918 • 2008-07-10 15:55Z

Thank you for removing your warning and reinstating my edit after reverting. Some editors wouldn't have bothered for an anon IP. Much appreciated.80.5.143.72 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 19:33, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Urban heat island effect

Hello Sir, you recently undid an edit of mine. There is WP:BLP concer on the talk page of the reverted artice (UHI.) Please read the discussion where two highly expereicned editor have expressed this concern. I am currently away from home and I do not sign in from public computers but you can check my username User:Brusegadi. I understand if you are skeptical of my second claim, but my first claim WP:BLP carries much weight. Please undo your revert to Urban Heat Island. Thank you very much and good luck fighting those vandals (I know it can be difficult at times) 128.148.42.147 (talk) 20:21, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No worries! I patrol the recent changes too and I know how it feels when you get involved in something that is more complicated then it looks on the surface of it. The particualr journal they reference is not a very reliable source. Keep up the good work! 128.148.42.147 (talk) 20:30, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re [1]. Do please reconsider your revert, which appears to have been rather hasty William M. Connolley (talk) 20:25, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi WBOSTIG. I'm not certain if your edit [2] was a false positive thought to revert vandalism. This article is currently contentious - in my (and others) opinion this piece is a WP:BLP violation. If you misidentified the original deletion as vandalism, please consider a self-revert. Thanks. --Stephan Schulz (talk) 20:26, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion Camp

Thank you for keeping and archiving the Discussion Camp. Perhaps people aren't ready yet. Perhaps someday enough people will be. Or, perhaps it could find a home on another site. In any case, the skills to be learned can be helpful to anyone trying to get their message across to someone else. ---- Michael David (talk) 17:00, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA Thanks

Thank you for your support at my RFA, which was successful. I must admit that I was surprised as to your reasoning - I did the AGF, but you didn't read it... You know, if I had known that then, I should have just typed "wibblewibblewibblewibblewibblewibblewibble" and saved myself an hour of work (grin). Seriously though, I do appreciate the support, and I look forward to working with you in the future. StephenBuxton (talk) 21:29, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Method for memorizing digits in a random access system

At the page about Piphilology, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piphilology, I tried to add a link to my blog where I describe a method for memorizing digits in a random access system. The link was removed by a bot (XLinkBot). I then tried to undo the removal with an explanation, but then the link was taken away by WBOSITG using something called Huggle.

I wonder if my blog which I link to does not fit to the Piphilology article, and if so, what can I do to make it fit, so that a link can be appropriate?

I am presently using my method to memorize 10,000 digits of pi. I have so far done 2,300 digits, and presently I increase that by 100 per day.

Here is the link to my blog <link removed per advertising concerns>

Ok, I see that the link to my blog in question is removed even here in the above line, but I think it is needed to answer my question. Anyway, I would appreciate a reply to how I can present my method so that it will be acceptable to link to it.
