Today's motto...

Welcome!

Start a new section at the bottom of the page.

Be civil!

Sign with four tildes (~~~~).

I will respond here to comments posted here.

I will respond to other comments on the page where they were left.

Beware! This user's talk page is monitored by talk page watchers. Some of them even talk back.

Wikibreak comments

I will be on wikibreak until 6/27.

  • Urgent queries or requests for help should probably be taken elsewhere.
    • If you have questions about WikiProject Homeschooling, the roll call will end soon after I return. Suggestions for work can be found on the project's talk page.
  • If you have any questions for me, or wish to continue an archived discussion, start a new section to do so and I will take care of it when I get back.
  • To my adoptees: Feel free to post questions here; I will deal with them as soon as I come back, but more likely, my talk page stalkers will be able to answer faster.
  • To my talk page stalkers: As always, feel free to talk here while I'm gone, but it comes at a price - watch my adoptees!

PrincessofLlyr royal court 16:01, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Or we don't talk here and don't watch your adoptees!  :) Have a well earned break: we will field any questions and watch your adoptees. Any articles to watch? --Jubileeclipman 17:08, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm still around today, and maybe a little tomorrow, but Monday forward I will not be on at all. Articles: Dj black and the author's talk. (I'm thinking it should be moved, but thought I would tell the author about it first as a courtesy. If they don't respond within a day or two, feel free to move). I think that's about it. You could keep an eye on TypewriterGirl too. She requested adoption from me, but still hasn't responded to my message on her talk. If she replies with something general, that's fine, but if she has any urgent questions, feel free to answer those. Thanks! PrincessofLlyr royal court 17:24, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I cleaned up DJ Black a little and have requested clarification and sourcing for some claims. TypewriterGirl looks perfect for WikiProject Home schooling... --Jubileeclipman 21:33, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Then give her an invite. AirplaneProRadioChecklist 00:49, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

She is invited. I am now back from my wikibreak and will be slowly jumping back in. Tps help always welcome. An update on news here would be nice too. See y'all around. PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:48, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recruitment ideas

I notice that you and most of your TPSes are involved in recruitment drives at the moment. I wonder if you (all) could give me some tips on recruiting members to Wikipedia:WikiProject Contemporary music of which I am the coordinator. At the moment, there are only two editors that regularly comment over at the talkpage, viz Deskford and me, though there are a few other editors who work on category:WikiProject Contemporary music articles behind the scenes. What we need are editors that can be motivated to work on these articles which mainly cover the period described in Contemporary classical music and 21st-century classical music. Obviously, this is a topic that will only interest a small handful of editors but how do we find then motivate those editors to work on these articles? Major composers such as James MacMillan and Lou Harrison either have articles that need major expansion and cleanup or, like Lyell Cresswell, have no article at all! OTOH, we have borderline cases such as Jesper Nordin and Ludmila Yurina who we keep getting bogged down with and debating for days on end before saying "but what about the major composers...?" Worse still, we keep getting the blatant self-promos like Kobi Arad (or is it Kobi Alad or Yaakob Arad or perhaps Kobi arad or...) that just won't stop pushing... Any ideas how to get people interested in such a specialist field of interest? --Jubileeclipman 01:11, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's really hard to revive a project (as I'm finding out). One of the easiest ways is to keep an eye out for users who are interested in music. Hyacinth is one I remember seeing on the talk pages of several of your articles that I assessed (forgive me, I was thinking of music theory. you could invite herhim anyway!). Have you petitioned WikiProject Music or related projects on their talk pages? Post personalized messages to active contributors of said projects, inviting them to join yours. Another idea would be a cleanup drive similar to what GOCE is doing right now, offering major rewards for expansion. Also, that could be (possibly) accomplished by posting at the WP:reward board, although that is unlikely to bring you any major contributors. Have you posted something in the signpost? Not sure how many people notice, but it's worth a shot. I blatantly advertised my need for new members in WikiProject Homeschooling on my user page, which probably drew at least one, possibly two new members. Those are my ideas for now. I'll post more as I think of them. Note that I do not guarantee any of said ideas actually working. PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:50, 20 June 2010 (UTC) Add:When was the last time you had a roll call? That pokes the current participants, and puts your project out for everyone looking at the talk pages of those users to see. Do you have invite and welcome templates? That sometimes makes people more likely to invite other users. Also, stress the need (assuming it is) for all types of contributors, not just specialists in the field. Other editors can add a lot to a project even if they aren't an expert on the subject, freeing the experts for expansion work. PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:02, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hyacinth (he, BTW...) is a free spirit... Nuff said. Thanks for the other ideas, though. I'll have a look at this tomorrow --Jubileeclipman 02:05, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, okay. Yeah, somehow hyacinth just strikes me as a girl's name. Oh well. That's what I get for assuming genders! PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:12, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So did I: see here, then here and here for a full explanation --Jubileeclipman 19:50, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Your notice drew me. Oh yeah, and Hyacinth does sound like a girl's name (begging your pardon, of course, Hyacinth). AirplaneProRadioChecklist 00:39, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My point here was that the topic is a valid topic for Wikipedia, although obesity in cats may be a more formal sounding title. It is very likely that there are veterinary and popular magazine writings on this topic. The content was 99% copied and irrelevant, but there was a small effort made to introduce new material. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 06:33, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explanation. PrincessofLlyr royal court 19:06, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Feline obesity would seem to be the most likely term used by vets and animal health experts. Most of the info would probably fit into either obesity in pets or cat, I would imagine. I would try to expand obesity in pets first, though, as cat is pretty comprehensive as it stands --Jubileeclipman 19:36, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, stalkers! I could use some feedback

If any stalkers are out there waiting for my adopter to return, could you take a quick look at User:OnePt618/Here's the Deal (Book) before I publish it? Any commentary is welcome! Thanks!!-- φ OnePt618Talk φ 07:23, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My stalkers will probably give you plenty of comments. I think it looks like a great start. Some reception info would be good, but it could be published as a stub/start class article right now. The refs could do with some reformatting - I did one as an example. The retrieved date I left blank as I don't know that. This gives a better example. Great start! PrincessofLlyr royal court 13:22, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, using the {{Cite}} template will be way easier. A good tool is REFLINKS, which you can quickly use to fill in bare links. To manually do it, look at your toolbar. See the cite button? Click it, and you'll see the "templates" drop down menu. Choose the appropriate one, fill out as many fields as possible (title required), and insert. I'll take a look at your page and see what I can do. Airplaneman 16:31, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And what is the title of the book? It's unclear right now. Is it "Don't Touch Me" or "Here's the Deal"? I would think it is the former and not the latter because that is what is in big bold letters on the book cover. Airplaneman 16:35, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, the way I read, it's both: Here's the Deal: Don't Touch Me. PrincessofLlyr royal court 18:18, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, OK. I'll fix it accordingly on the draft. OnePt, don't forget to move it to the correct titile when moving it to the mainspace! Airplaneman 18:53, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

One more favor... I'm not quite sure what I did wrong, but I received some vicious harassment on my talk page today. I'm not quite sure how to proceed; any advice is appreciated,... -- φ OnePt618Talk φ 02:09, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, I've posted this incident on Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts so further discussion of that issue right here is probably unwarranted.-- φ OnePt618Talk φ 05:21, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like it got taken care of over there. I don't really have any comments that haven't already been made. Feel free to post any more questions or comments and keep up the good work! PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:48, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

Thank you very much for your contribution to my Rfa. I have made a comment about it at User talk:JamesBWatson#Your Request for Adminship which you are, of course, very welcome to read if you wish to. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:32, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A large amount of text were duplicated in revision 356735609 and the anon edits in later revisions were only trying to help by removing that. Anyway, since you're on a wikibreak I went ahead and rv'd your rvs. --Kakurady (talk) 01:05, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing that out. Entirely my fault for not actually looking into the article. Thanks! PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:48, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tracker Task Force

Actually, I've never read it and I'm pretty highly involved with a bunch of other projects at the moment. However, if you want to notify me when you draft the article, I'll be glad to look over it, copy-edit, etc. Good luck! PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:48, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Hello! I was wondering how you stuck all your userboxes on the side of your user page. Mine are all over the place. Thanks! --Glimmer721 (talk) 15:04, 26 June 2010 (UTC) ...I was also wondering if you can adopt me because I REALLY need help!! --Glimmer721 (talk) 15:22, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well if you don't mind a talk page stalker's advice, put {{Userboxtop|Userboxes}} on the top of your page and put your userboxes below and {{Userboxbottom}} under your last userbox. It makes this:

Derild4921 15:55, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All right, I've got that done. Thanks!! Okay, since I basically created th articles Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, I've been trying to upload a picture. It's the illustrations on the cover of the UK editions...what do I need to type in in terms of licensing? --Glimmer721 (talk) 22:31, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker)File:HPBOOK.jpg is basically what you're trying to do right? If so upload, then copy the coding over, replacing the fields with proper information about the photo, and fair use rationale for the article you're using it in. Brambleclawx 22:36, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like that answered your questions! Yes, I would be glad to adopt you. I think you've been doing great work with the articles from that series (Hunger Games, etc. What is it actually?). I'm just trying to catch up right now, so I'll get back to you about the details of the adoption in the next few days. PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:48, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back

Hope you had a nice relaxing break --Jubileeclipman 23:58, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Funny how I just mentioned the fact that you'd disappeared. Add Oh, and on User:Brambleclawx/newuserpage, I tried to use those navbox things you use don your userpage, but I couldn't get all the userboxes to fit... any idea how to keep the ubx's and CTable inside?Brambleclawx 23:58, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
