Rocky Rapids is a hamlet in central Alberta, Canada within Brazeau County.[3] It is located Template:Km to mi east of Highway 22, approximately Template:Km to mi north of Drayton Valley.
Government
Rocky Rapids is represented in the Brazeau County Council as a community of Division 4. Division 4 is currently represented by Kara Westerlund (Dykstra), who was elected in the 2010 Alberta Municipal Election. Ms. Westerlund is overseen by the Reeve of Brazeau County, Mr. Wes Tweedle, who was re-elected for the position during the same election. The county offers residents a free-of-charge waste transfer station about 1 km. outside of the community.
Communications
Home and mobility telephone services are offered by Telus, Bell Canada, and Rogers Communications. The Rocky Rapids Store operates as the community postal box centre. Canada Post offers a Rural Post Outlet in Drayton Valley in Value Drug Mart. Shaw Direct, Bell Canada, and Telus all offer a satellite television broadcast system. Wild Rose Internet is the main source of high speed internet through radio communication.
Economy
The economy of Rocky Rapids is based mostly on oil and gas, being part of the Pembina oil field. Rocky Rapids has two stores and numerous home businesses. The Rocky Rapids Store offers grocery items, farming supply and seed, as well as lottery, and fuel. Rocky Rapids Liquor opened in the summer of 2010 to offer the community an alternative than going to Drayton Valley.

The Easyfest Music Festival used to be held in Rocky Rapids[4] but is now defunct.
Sports and recreation
The outdoor skating rink is the main facility for outdoor recreation in Rocky Rapids. Ice is put in the rink during the winter months, while basketball hoops offer sport during the summer. A park with a playground is also nearby. A pedestrian path extends from Rocky Rapids to Drayton Valley for walking and bicycling. A martial arts class is taught in the community hall. Rapid Fire Raceway is located near Rocky Rapids where people race cars on a dirt track.
Transportation
The main transportation is automotive vehicles. Rocky Rapids has no public transit. The Drayton Valley Municipal Airport is located Template:Km to mi south of Rocky Rapids.
Media
Rocky Rapids has no local media enterprises, but uses Drayton Valley media programs for news and information. The Drayton Valley Western Review is the newspaper that is circulated through Rocky Rapids and Big West Country 92.9 FM is the bearer of country radio, news, sports and weather.
