Qatar is expected to competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom.

Following the 2008 Summer Olympics, Qatar was, along with Saudi Arabia and Brunei, one of only three countries never have sent a female athlete to the Olympic Games. In 2010, however, the Qatar Olympic Committee announced that it "hoped to send up to four female athletes in shooting and fencing" to the 2012 Games in London.[1] [2]

Athletics

Athletes from Qatar have so far achieved qualifying standards in the following athletics events (up to a maximum of 3 athletes in each event at the 'A' Standard, and 1 at the 'B' Standard):[3][4]

Qualified three (or more) athletes at the A Standard
  • Men's marathon
Qualified two athletes at the A Standard
  • Men's 1,500 m
Qualified one athlete at the A Standard
  • Men's 100 m
  • Men's 200 m
  • Men's high jump
Qualified one (or more) athletes at the B Standard
  • Men's 400 m
  • Men's 800 m
  • Men's 3,000 m steeplechase

Shooting

Qatar has ensured berths in the following events of shooting:[5]
