Follow-up
Hello History2007. Per a previous comment, I do encourage you to consider RfA. You may get a better reception if you are willing to go step-by-step to see if there are any areas where you might learn more. I'm here just to observe that you haven't enabled archiving for your talk page. Generally you seem to delete old discussions from your talk. Anyone who engages much in Wikipedia space, for example an admin, should be willing to preserve old discussions for anyone to review. See User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo for one way of using a bot to automatically archive old discussions from your user talk. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 19:37, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. So not archiving means I am a "bad boy" I guess. Bu I am really not. 60k edits and no blocks. If I do the Rfa, then I will do that too, and maybe I should now.... To be upfront with you, If I do the Rfa, I am half hoping not to succeed.... My main goal if I apply will be to deal with WP:COI and puppets. If you look at this series you will see what we went through to avoid COI there. So I am unhappy with COI across Wikipedia, so maybe I should do an RFa, but... it looks like work... But in any case, now that you think I should, maybe I should. I was busy because I had set my mind to to finish an article today (last of a series I started a year ago) and I just finished it. So I will try to look at the Rfa forms in the next few days. Thanks. History2007 (talk) 20:00, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
- It's always good to find people who have an interest in COI enforcement. Still, your name appears in the archives of WP:COIN only one time. If you are willing to get more experience at that noticeboard, it would strengthen the case for your adminship. Often we find candidates presenting themselves for adminship that have little or no content work. You are almost the opposite since you have many useful contributions to article space but your Wikipedia space edits are low. Please consider the wisdom of widening your experience in Wikipedia space, since possible critics at RfA would be influenced by any good work you could do there. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 22:22, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
- Well, let the critics say what they want. I am really not going to go out of my way to do a dress rehearsal or prove myself for becoming an admin. There is no extra pay and just extra work. If they do not like my edit history, they can get a refund. It is as simple as that. I really do not know why there has to be an initiation process here for long term users. I will just apply and see what happens. I am not in any way desperate to become an admin and if I fill in the forms, I will be doing Wikipedia a favor by doing extra unpaid work, not the other way around. My apologies, but I just do not buy into the "admin mystique". I would only do it to stop articles from degrading. If they have better people to do it, that is great. I will not take up their time, and walk. History2007 (talk) 22:29, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
- Anyway, I have been trying to find time to write a program to flag self-published sources in key articles. I think I will go back to work on that and may think of admin items later at some future point, if at all. History2007 (talk) 22:45, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
