The My Hero Academia manga and anime series features a vast world with an extensive cast of characters created by Kōhei Horikoshi. The series takes place in a fictional world where, currently, more than 80% of the Earth's population possesses some form of superhuman ability, commonly referred to as a "Quirk" the advent of these abilities has given rise to not only professional heroes, but also the threat of villains.
U.A. High School

- Izuku Midoriya (緑谷 出久, Midoriya Izuku) / Deku (デク, Deku)

- After attempting to save Bakugō from a villain, Izuku, an initially Quirkless boy, is chosen by All Might to become the ninth holder of One For All (ワン・フォー・オール, Wan Fō Ōru), a Quirk that stockpiles the user's physical strength and unleashes it as a powerful burst; the quirk can also be passed from one person to another. Eventually, Izuku finds out that One for All contains the quirks of the previous users but he becomes the first user capable of manifesting them.[3]

- Born Tenko Shimura (志村転弧, Shimura Tenko), he is the grandson of All Might's mentor Nana Shimura who became All for One's apprentice after he accidentally murdered his family when his touch-based Quirk Decay (崩壊, Hōkai) which allows him to destroy whatever he grabs with his hand, manifested.[26]
- Kurogiri (黒霧, lit. "Black Mist")

- Tomura's caretaker and the League's second-in command, later revealed to be a Nomu created from the corpse of Aizawa's classmate Oboro Shirakumo (白雲朧, Shirakumo Oboro).[28] While his original Quirk was Cloud (雲 (クラウド), Kuraudo?), he acquired additional Quirks after becoming a Nomu that include the portal-based Warp Gate (ワープゲート, Wāpu Gēto).
- Kyudai Garaki (殻木 球大, Garaki Kyūdai)

- A scientist who creates the Nomus and served as All for One's personal doctor after he was critically injured, possessing a longevity Quirk that makes him appear years younger than he really is. The character's real name was previously Maruta Shiga (志賀 丸太, Shiga Maruta), but was changed following the backlash in relation to the war crimes committed by Unit 731.[29]

- A kaiju-sized Villain who is All For One's bodyguard and secret weapon, possessing multiple Quirks and playing a role in enhancing Tomura's power.

- A broker working for the League of Villains whose Quirk Muddiness (混濁, Kondaku) allows him to make someone's memories of the previous and following five minutes vague after making contact with their head.
- Nomu (脳無, Nōmu, lit. "Brainless")
- Mindless, muscular monstrosities with multiple quirks created by All For One and Daruma. One Nomu was responsible for giving Eraser Head the scar under his right eye. Dr. Ujiko also oversaw the development of High-End (ハイエンド, Hai Endo) Nomus, which are intelligent and more powerful versions of the standard Noumus.

- A blood-obsessed girl whose Quirk Transform (変身, Henshin) allows her to assume the appearance of anyone whose blood she ingests. She develops an obsession with Midoriya after seeing him bruised due to injuries sustained from Muscular as well as developing a friendship with Twice.[30]
- Jin Bubaigawara (分倍河原 仁, Bubaigawara Jin) / Twice (トゥワイス, Tuwaisu)
- Voiced by: Daichi Endō[31] (Japanese); Newton Pittman (English)
- A man whose Quirk Double (二倍, Nibai) allows him to create two indistinguishable but fragile copies of anything he touches. Besides his Dissociative identity disorder, he initially suffered an existential crisis as the result of a past incident where using his Quirk on himself ended with his rebellious clones killing each other and assuming he was a clone. While Twice overcomes his trauma during his fight Tomoyasu Chikazoku to use his Quirk to its full potential, he is fatally wounded by Hawks during the war between Heroes and Villains and dies in Toga's arms.
- Atsuhiro Sako (迫 圧紘, Sako Atsuhiro) / Mr. Compress (Mr. コンプレス, Misutā Konpuresu)

Overhaul's desire of restoring the Yakuza to its former glory lead him to develop the Quirk-Killing Bullets while setting up a monopoly in Quirk-enhancement drugs.

- A young boy who lost his Hero parents, the Water Hose duo, and was taken in by the Pussycats due to Mandalay being his aunt. Like his parents, his Quirk is Water Hose.
- Eri (壊理)
- Voiced by: Seiran Kobayashi (Japanese); Emily Neves[41] (English)
- Eri is the granndaughter of the unnamed former boss of the Shie Hassaikai adopted daughter of Chisaki, who used her blood in order to create "Quirk-destroying bullets." Her Quirk Rewind (人を巻き戻す, Hito o Maki Modosu) allows her to bring an individual's body to a previous state. After being saved from Chisaki, Eri is taken into the care and protection of U.A. High School.
- Nana Shimura (志村 菜奈, Shimura Nana)
- Voiced by: Mie Sonozaki (Japanese); Stephanie Young (English)
- The seventh wielder of One For All and Tomura Shigaraki's grandmother, she was Gran Torino's friend and Toshinori's mentor before she was killed by All for One. Before inheriting One For All, she originally possessed a hovering Quirk called Float (浮遊, Fuyū).

- A 19–year old college student whose Quirk is Slide and Glide (滑走, Kassō) allowing him to quickly travel across any flat surface.
- Kazuho Haneyama (羽根山 和歩, Haneyama Kazuho) / Pop☆Step (ポップ☆ステップ, Poppu☆Suteppu)
- A high schooler who, secretly, acts as a clandestine idol, dressing in a succubus-like suit to conceal her identity. She usually holds unauthorized concerts on high places, using her Quirk Leap (跳躍, Chōyaku) which allows her to jump several meters high.
- Oguro (雄黒) / "Takeshi Kuroiwa" (黒岩 武司, Kuroiwa Takeshi) / Knuckleduster (ナックルダスター, Nakkurudasutā)
- An old man who is investigating the trafficking of a mysterious drug around town in order to find his daughter. His tenacity in battle makes others believe he possesses a Quirk related to physical prowess, when he actually has no Quirk at all.
