WWE is an American professional wrestling promotion based out of Stamford, Connecticut and is the world's largest promotion. The company promotes several championships and title reigns are either determined by professional wrestling matches or are awarded to a wrestler, as a result of the culmination of various (scripted) storylines.

WWE divides its roster between four brands, which are where wrestlers exclusively perform on a weekly basis, albeit with some exceptions. The two primary brands that WWE promotes are Raw and SmackDown, collectively referred to as the main roster. NXT serves as the developmental brand for the main roster (though was considered a third main brand from 2019 to 2021),[1][2] while NXT UK is for wrestlers based in the United Kingdom and is a subdivision of NXT.[3]

All four brands have a primary, secondary, and tag team championship for male wrestlers and a singles championship for female wrestlers. There are two tag team championships for female wrestlers—one for the main roster, shared by Raw and SmackDown, and the other on NXT. There is also an open championship, which is available to anyone, regardless of gender or WWE employment status.

There are currently 19 championships in WWE. As of July 15, 2024, among the four current brands, 20 wrestlers officially hold championships, including three double champions (with a vacated tag team championship). This list includes the number of times the wrestler has held the title, the date and location of the win, and a description of the winning bout.

Overview

Main roster

Men

At the top of WWE's championship hierarchy for male wrestlers are the WWE Championship on Raw and the Universal Championship on SmackDown—regarded as world championships. Both titles are held by Roman Reigns, who is recognized as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. In his fourth reign as WWE Champion, he won the title by defeating Brock Lesnar on April 3, 2022, on Night 2 of WrestleMania 38 in a Winner Takes All match to claim both championships.[4] In his second reign as Universal Champion, he won the title by defeating previous champion "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman, who Reigns pinned, in a No Holds Barred triple threat match at Payback on August 30, 2020.[5]

Secondary titles for male wrestlers include the United States Championship on Raw and the Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown. The United States Championship is held by Bobby Lashley, who is in his third reign. He defeated Theory on July 2, 2022 at Money in the Bank. The Intercontinental Championship is held by first-time champion Gunther, who defeated Ricochet on the June 10, 2022, episode of SmackDown.[6]

Tag team titles for male wrestlers include the Raw Tag Team Championship and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship—regarded as world tag team championships. Both titles are held by The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso), who are recognized as the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions. In their third reign as Raw Tag Team Champions, they won the title by defeating RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) on the May 20, 2022, episode of SmackDown in a Winners Take All match to claim both championships.[7] In their fifth reign as SmackDown Tag Team Champions, they won the title by defeating Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio on the Money in the Bank Kickoff pre-show on July 18, 2021.[8]

Women

At the top of WWE's championship hierarchy for female wrestlers are the Raw Women's Championship and the SmackDown Women's Championship—regarded as women's world championships. The Raw Women's Championship is held by first-time champion Bianca Belair, who defeated Becky Lynch on April 2, 2022, at WrestleMania 38 Night 1.[9] The SmackDown Women's Championship is held by first-time champion Liv Morgan, who defeated Ronda Rousey on July 2, 2022 at Money in the Bank after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract she won earlier in the night.

The WWE Women's Tag Team Championship is the only tag team championship for women on the main roster, and as such, it is shared between Raw and SmackDown. The title is vacant. Previous champions Naomi and Sasha Banks were suspended and stripped of the titles on the May 20, 2022, episode of SmackDown after they walked out of a scheduled appearance on the May 16 episode of Raw. A tournament will be held to crown new champions.[10]

Open

The 24/7 Championship is an open championship, available to anyone regardless of brand or gender—including non-WWE personnel. It can be defended anytime, anywhere, as long as a WWE referee is present. The title is held by six-time champion Dana Brooke of the Raw brand. She won the title by pinning Nikki A.S.H. on June 20, 2022, during the Main Event tapings (aired online June 23).[11]

Developmental

NXT

NXT, also referred to as NXT 2.0 since September 2021, is WWE's primary developmental brand, featuring three championships for men and two for women.

Men

The top title for male wrestlers is the NXT Championship. It is held by Bron Breakker, who is in his second reign. He won the title by defeating Dolph Ziggler on the April 4, 2022, episode of Raw.[12] The secondary championship for male wrestlers is the NXT North American Championship. It is held by two-time champion Carmelo Hayes, who defeated Cameron Grimes on June 4, 2022, at In Your House.[13] The men's tag team championship is the NXT Tag Team Championship, which is held by first-time champions The Creed Brothers (Brutus Creed and Julius Creed), who defeated Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince and Kit Wilson) on June 4, 2022, at In Your House.[14]

Women

The top title for female wrestlers is the NXT Women's Championship. It is held by Mandy Rose, who is in her first reign. She won the title by defeating Raquel González in a Chucky's choice Trick or Street Fight match on October 26, 2021, during the special Halloween Havoc episode of NXT 2.0.[15] The tag team championship for women is the NXT Women's Tag Team Championship, which is held by record-tying two-time champions Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne). They defeated Dakota Kai and Raquel González on the April 5, 2022, episode of NXT 2.0.[16]

NXT UK

NXT UK is a subsidiary brand of NXT exclusively based in the United Kingdom. NXT UK has three championships for men and one for women.

Men

The top title for male wrestlers is the NXT United Kingdom Championship. It is held by Ilja Dragunov, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating Walter (now known as Gunther) at NXT TakeOver 36 on August 22, 2021.[17] The secondary championship for male wrestlers is the NXT UK Heritage Cup, which has a special stipulation in which all matches are contested under "British Rounds Rules". It is held by Mark Coffey, who is in his first reign. He defeated Noam Dar on June 23, 2022 during the NXT UK tapings (will air at a later date).[18] The men's tag team championship is the NXT UK Tag Team Championship, which is held by Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs, who are in their first reign. They defeated Die Familie (Teoman and Rohan Raja), Dave Mastiff and Jack Starz, and Mark Andrews and Wild Boar for the vacant titles in a fatal four-way elimination match on JUne 22, 2022 during the NXT UK tapings (aired June 23 - previous champions Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter had to vacate the titles due to Smith suffering a knee injury).[19]

Women

The NXT UK Women's Championship is the only championship for female wrestlers in NXT UK. It is held by first-time title holder Meiko Satomura, who won the title by defeating Kay Lee Ray on the June 10, 2021, episode of NXT UK (the actual date the match took place is unknown).[20]

Note: Tables with a "Days recognized" column means that WWE officially recognizes a different number of days that a wrestler has held a title, generally due to an event airing on tape delay. For some NXT UK events, the actual date an event took place is unknown.
