Overlinking

Watch out to not overlink as you did at AEW TNT Championship here. Scorpio Sky, Sammy Guevara, and ladder match (which you linked in the prose in a subsequent edit; the reign box one was okay although missing a period) are all linked previously in the article. --JDC808 08:29, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I see this is happening again. Please stop overlinking. You did it again at the AEW World Trios Championship page and I've had to remove it. JDC808 07:15, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2022 May newsletter

The second round of the 2022 WikiCup has now finished. It was a high-scoring round and contestants needed 115 points to advance to round 3. There were some very impressive efforts in round 2, with the top seven contestants all scoring more than 500 points. A large number of the points came from the 11 featured articles and the 79 good articles achieved in total by contestants.

Our top scorers in round 2 were:

  1. New York (state) Epicgenius, with 1264 points from 2 featured article, 4 good articles and 18 DYKs. Epicgenius was a finalist last year but has now withdrawn from the contest as he pursues a new career path.
  2. Christmas Island AryKun, with 1172 points from two featured articles, one good article and a substantial number of featured article and good article reviews.
  3. Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132, with 605 points from 44 in the news items and 4 DYKs.
  4. Sammi Brie, with 573 points from 8 GAs and 21 DYKs.
  5. Ealdgyth, with 567 points from 11 GAs and 34 good and featured article reviews.
  6. United States Panini!, with 549 points from 1 FA, 4 GAs and several other sources.
  7. England Lee Vilenski, with 545 points from 1 FA, 4 GAs and a number of reviews.

The rules for featured and good article reviews require the review to be of sufficient length; brief quick fails and very short reviews will generally not be awarded points. Remember also that DYKs cannot be claimed until they have appeared on the main page. As we enter the third round, any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed now, and anything you forgot to claim in round 2 cannot! Remember too, that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Belt collector?

Re your claim that Impact Wrestling recognises Matt Cardona as a belt collector - do you have a reliable source for this? I did a Google search for this limiting the search to the Impact website and nothing popped up. If there isn't a reliable source to confirm this I believe the titles they don't recognise individually should not be there. That means all of them except the NWA title and Impact's own titles. Addicted4517 (talk) 22:39, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion on the Impact Roster talk page.

Hey bud. There's a discussion going on on the Impact Roster talk page pertaining to the Cardona Belt Collector edit and what I perceive to be WP:Own behaviour with a particular user if you'd like to give some input. SkylerLovefist (talk) 02:32, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting, going by that discussion, apparently we're "close to being reported for disruptive editing." Because we don't meet one user's specifications. Which, you know. Isn't the thing I'm complaining about, honest. I don't see how you're doing any disruptive editing. Or myself, but I'm the one who started the discussion. So we now have a discussion on the Impact talk page...

Czello has created a discussion regarding the edit which shouldn't have been undone to start with you may want to join in with. HHHPedrigree agrees the title should stay... In spite of trying to remove the edit a few days ago.

I think I'm tapping out with editing this website in all honesty, man. I've had a gutsful of him and Addicted gatekeeping and getting away with it. SkylerLovefist (talk) 09:37, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm moving this here from the other talk page to keep it on topic. SkylerLovefist's actual reason for this ban is not what I was talking about. It was his underlying attitude over sources. I'm calling you paranoid because you are making assumptions that are not correct - exactly what he has been doing. Indeed, you did it again claiming I'm talking down to people and "basically saying I need someone in my ear to tell me how to think, and that I can't come to my own conclusions" That is false. I am not telling you how to think. If you wish to make the same errors I can't stop you. That is up to you. All I am advising is that you take a step back, look at what other users are saying about the situation (eg HHH Pedrigree re sources over consensus) and then make your own decision. At present it would appear that you are not listening to anyone let alone me - except for SkylerLovefist. Addicted4517 (talk) 09:50, 25 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Addicted4517 It looks to me that Skyler is living rent free in your head, because you always bring him up. Any beef I have with you is just based on my own observations - not Skyler's or anyone else's. Any beef you have with Skyler is between you and him...don't use me as a proxy. He's gone (for at least a week), so he's a non factor. Whatever issue you have with me, address with me and to me. Don't keep bringing up Skyler, because as he is blocked and can't respond to defend himself, you are beating a dead horse. Vjmlhds 14:28, 25 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I only bring him up if it's appropriate. For the record, I think I'm in his head rent free but anyway. The point is you are showing the same signs of behaviour as him. That is the reason why it's appropriate. And no, he is not a non factor (LOL at the reflections below) and that is why you are incorrect about the dead horse reflection. Addicted4517 (talk) 23:31, 25 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can tell I'm too much of a wrestling fan because when you said he's a non factor all I could remember was when Austin said "let's take Debra out of the equation, bam she's a non-factor. Anyway, I'll let you two get back to it. — Czello 14:53, 25 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Czello Great main event to arguably the greatest wrestling PPV of all time. Vjmlhds 15:03, 25 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Addicted4517 I never went into this looking for a reason to do battle, but I will defend myself. Having said that, now that it looks like everything's settled with the reason this whole tadoo came about in the first place, let's touch gloves, go back to our corners, and chill, OK? BTW, fair being fair, I think you and Skyler are kinda both in each other's head. He complains about you, you complain about him, and the wheels on the bus go round and round. Once he gets off his block, it wouldn't hurt you 2 to have a powwow to clear the air. But to the here and now, I'm willing to pound gloves and call it a day, what say you? Vjmlhds 00:45, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'll just say that he complains a lot more about me than I do about him and my complaints are a lot more measured - and leave it at that. Addicted4517 (talk) 01:54, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So, you wanted to have a chat?

Well, I'm finally off postblock, and I saw your message. First off, I apologise for kind of dragging you into things. I just come to you because you're actually reasonable and someone who will actually compromise if we disagree.

Now, about my little problem with certain people, you've summed up a good part of my issue. The holier than thou behaviour and the WP:OWN tendsncies. In fact, that drama over the Impact article wouldn't have happened had said person not shown up acting in said fashion, along with showing they weren't even aware Impact works with New Japan to start with. There's also the lack of willingness to be wrong and work with others. Every time you point out a flaw, it's either "I'm telling on you for breaching WP:CIVIL" or "B-b-but Skyler!"

I'm all for working with people. But the key word here is "with" people. I shouldn't feel like I'm fighting an uphill battle to make valid edits because people keep being unreasonable with guidelines. SkylerLovefist (talk) 18:40, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

SkylerLovefist Without naming names - as I've dealt with more than one of these types of editors in a decade and a half - I have a theory about why some editors have that high horse attitude. It's because on Wikipedia they feel like they are 10 feet tall behind the keyboard, and can act on their smugness here in a way they can't in the real world. In the real world, they are nobodies who are either ignored or brushed off by people with better things to do than deal with them. But when they get on here and preach the virtues of WP:This and WP:That, it makes them feel high and mighty, and they get a rush out of that. Now having said all that, and acknowledging ---Censored to avoid WP:Personal accusations--- has issues on his side of the fence (to say the least), it wouldn't hurt you either to use more carrot and less 2X4 in dealing with him. And also watch yourself with the machine gun style rapid fire reverts, as that just gives the higher-ups a reason to drop the hammer under WP:3R. Just trying to keep you around here and not disappear into the Land of the Lost...trust me, after 3 days Marshall, Will, and Holly wear on you. Vjmlhds (talk) 23:05, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah bud, that was frustration speaking on my part more than anything. I appreciate the neutrality some people were trying to bring to that and the 3RR thing was more me not realising the discussion had been posted on the List of Impact talent page. I just think it's silly going "This needs a source" on everything, or nitpicking about sources on everything. I keep asking where we draw the line and how strict we need to be. I never seem to get a straight answer from the culprits. Strange that. I feel like your theory has merit about that kind of behaviour too. Especially when those people's entire history is undoing everyone else's edits rather than adding to articles and helping out. SkylerLovefist (talk) 00:07, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
SkylerLovefist Hear the one about the Wikipedian who was watching his house burn down in a fire? His neighbor goes up to him and says "Oh my God, your house is on fire! Why aren't you calling the fire department?! The Wikipedian says "I need to have it verified by a reliable source that the house is in fact on fire, otherwise it's original research." Just making a point about how ludicrous it would be if we applied the stringent Wiki logic to the real world. Vjmlhds 04:02, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's my point exactly. And that feels like exactly what started the whole shebang over the Openweight Title. SkylerLovefist (talk) 04:40, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your instincts were right. The image was a copyvio, but it was an overwrite of a properly licensed crop of Rousey. I've reverted the copyvio on Commons and restored the use of the Commons image on the list article. As such, I don't think this cropped image is needed. If you feel this is a better crop, feel free to remove the PROD and reinstate the image you just uploaded. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 18:44, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2022 July newsletter

The third round of the 2022 WikiCup has now come to an end. Each of the sixteen contestants who made it into the fourth round had at least 180 points, which is a lower figure than last year when 294 points were needed to progress to round 4. Our top scorers in round 3 were:

  • Zulu (International Code of Signals) BennyOnTheLoose, with 746 points, a tally built both on snooker and other sports topics, and on more general subjects.
  • Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132, with 683 points, garnered mostly from "In the news" items and related DYKs.
  • Sammi Brie, with 527, from a variety of submissions related to radio and television stations.

Between them contestants achieved 5 featured articles, 4 featured lists, 51 good articles, 149 DYK entries, 68 ITN entries, and 109 good article reviews. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Replaceable fair use File:AP NC Trophy.png

Thanks for uploading File:AP NC Trophy.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Unused. Superseded by File:Ohio House Diagram 2021 - 2023.svg.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 07:49, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The usual suspect is doing the usual thing on the Impact Personnel Page.

Since apparently Lou D'Angeli having that he works for Impact in his bio doesn't mean he works for Impact, there's a discussion on the talk page. I figure you'd like to chime in since you helped with sourcing and updating the edit. SkylerLovefist (talk) 10:10, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2022 September newsletter

WikiCup 2022 September newsletter

The fourth round of the WikiCup has now finished. 383 points were required to reach the final, and the new round has got off to a flying start with all finalists already scoring. In round 4, Bloom6132 with 939 points was the highest points-scorer, with a combination of DYKs and In the news items, followed by BennyOnTheLoose, Sammi Brie and Lee Vilenski. The points of all contestants are swept away as we start afresh for the final round.

At this stage, we say goodbye to the eight competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia, and we hope you will join us again next year. For the remaining competitors, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them, and importantly, before the deadline on October 31st!

If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. The judges are Sturmvogel 66 and Cwmhiraeth. →== Replaceable fair use File:Brownie Elf logo.jpg ==

Thanks for uploading File:Brownie Elf logo.jpg.

Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 09:00, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

X Division Championship

I absolutely understand what your saying about Kazarian being recognized as a five time champion by Impact. But he did serve as X Division Champion under the Suicide character sharing one of the reigns with Christopher Daniels. Now the question is for your edit to be valid where does Impact only recognize Christopher Daniels as the only person who held the X Division Championship as Suicide. Other sites acknowledge Daniels and Kazarian as both sharing the reign. Impact acknowledges Suicide as a an independent character never really acknowledging the person under the mask. Which makes Kazarian a six-time champion and Christopher Daniels a four-time champion. Eerie Holiday (talk) 19:26, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Source - Solie's X Division Championship this source only shows Kazarian as Champion and not Christopher Daniels. So where can you prove only Christopher Daniels is recognized by Impact as the sole Champion during the reign? Eerie Holiday (talk) 19:31, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You've re-inserted the word "currently" in lieu of the guideline standard that editors should attempt to follow for information that will quickly become dated on Renee Paquette several times. You've repeatedly reverted edits that referenced that guideline citing your personal preference without discussion.

Since you seem to be averse to reading the guideline, I'll post the relevant section here: Where possible, avoid terms such as "now" and "soon" ... "currently" and "recently".

You need to stop edit warring to avoid being blocked. Repeatedly inserting your personal preference in contravenence of editing guidelines without consensus - especially where it is clear others disagree will also get you quickly blocked.

Consider this your only warning since you really should know better given your editing history. Toddst1 (talk) 05:36, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Toddst1 One revert does not an edit war make...not necessary to come out with guns blazing like that, as one might see it as WP:Bullying. We disagree...OK, we can discuss it, fine and dandy. But to come out swinging with "warning" shots...that's a little much. Vjmlhds 14:54, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

November 2022

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. At least one of your edits on the page Pete Ricketts, while it may have been in good faith, was difficult to distinguish from vandalism. To help other editors understand the reason for the changes, you can use an edit summary for your contributions. WikiCup 2022 November newsletter

The 2022 WikiCup has drawn to a close with the final round going down to the wire. The 2022 champion is

  • England Lee Vilenski (1752 points), who won in 2020 and was runner up in both 2019 and last year. In the final round he achieved 3 FAs and 15 GAs, mostly on cue sports. He was closely followed by
  • Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132 (1732), who specialised in "In the news" items and DYKs, and who has reached the final round of the Cup for the past three years. Next was
  • Zulu (International Code of Signals) BennyOnTheLoose (1238), another cue sports enthusiast, also interested in songs, followed by
  • New York City Muboshgu (1082), an "In the news" contributor, a seasoned contestant who first took part in the Cup ten years ago. Other finalists were
  • Sammi Brie (930), who scored with a featured article, good articles and DYKs on TV and radio stations,
  • United Nations Kavyansh.Singh (370), who created various articles on famous Americans, including an FA on Louis H. Bean, famed for his prediction of election outcomes. Next was
  • Chicago PCN02WPS (292), who scored with good articles and DYKs on sporting and other topics and
  • Toronto Z1720 (25) who had DYKs on various topics including historic Canadians.

During the WikiCup, contestants achieved 37 featured articles, 349 good articles, 360 featured article reviews, 683 good article reviews and 480 In the news items, so Wikipedia has benefited greatly from the activities of WikiCup competitors. Well done everyone! All those who reached the final round will receive awards and the following special awards will be made, based on high performance in particular areas of content creation and review. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, these prizes are awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round, or the overall leader in this field.

  • England Lee Vilenski wins the featured article prize, for a total of 6 FAs during the course of the competition and 3 in the final round.
  • United Nations Kavyansh.Singh wins the featured list prize, for 3 FLs in round 2.
  • Adam Cuerden wins the featured picture prize, for 39 FPs during the competition.
  • Toronto Z1720 wins the featured article reviewer prize, for 35 FARs in round 4.
  • New York (state) Epicgenius wins the good article prize, for 32 GAs in round 1.
  • SounderBruce wins the featured topic prize, for 4 FT articles in round 1.
  • England Lee Vilenski wins the good topic prize, for 34 GT articles in round 5.
  • Sammi Brie wins the good article reviewer prize, for 71 GARs overall.
  • Sammi Brie wins the Did you know prize, for 30 DYKs in round 3 and 106 overall.
  • Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132 wins the In the news prize, for 106 ITNs in round 5 and 289 overall.

Next year's competition will begin on 1 January and possible changes to the rules and scoring are being discussed on the discussion page. You are invited to sign up to take part in the contest; the WikiCup is open to all Wikipedians, both novices and experienced editors, and we hope to have a good turnout for the 2023 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners and finalists, and thank all participants for their involvement! About our two friends...

Apparently they're feeling "attacked and harassed" because people aren't letting them get away with bullying behaviour.

I definitely think you're bang on the money about what you said a wee while back about compensating for something offline. SkylerLovefist (talk) 01:26, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

SkylerLovefist I saw what you're referring to...it reminds me of how some people reacted when Uncle Elon took over that place with the little blue bird. Some people just short circuit if they don't get their way, all day, every day, and someone dares push back on them. Speaking of Uncle Elon - I wonder if he has a couple of extra bucks in his couch cushions he'd like to put to good use. Vjmlhds 03:43, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Given Uncle Elon decided to about face on the whole pay for the tick deal, he could give said people a lesson in humbly taking an L and realising that if you're wrong, you're wrong and all the gatekeeping, bullying and tantrum throwing in the world won't change that. SkylerLovefist (talk) 07:34, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
SkylerLovefist That gets back to the point I made way back when about how some people who take Ls all the time in the real world, try to make this world into their happy place, and are shocked to realize they can't get everything they want all the time here either. Bottom line, this isn't a Wiki thing, but a life thing - there are just some people (be it in the real world, Wiki world, or Another World) where if you aren't stroking them 24/7 and giving them everything they want any time they want it, they cry harassment/mistreatment/abuse, and those of us who live in Normalville have to suffer for it because of the constant eggshell walking we have to do to avoid another volcano eruption. Vjmlhds 15:01, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Frustrating as it is, it's starting to head in the general direction of feet shooting, I think. Especially now I'm trying to avoid edit wars and I'm just going down the discussion route. SkylerLovefist (talk) 22:08, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And one of them just threw an almighty temper tantrum on my talkpage. Look at the arrogance on it. SkylerLovefist (talk) 03:58, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
SkylerLovefist I don't know if you saw this or not, but it looks to me that a certain someone was trying to bait you. Unfortunately, when you told "Mr. X" to "grow up", it gave him what he wanted. I hate to say it, but he hooked you, and it provided him an excuse to get up on the soapbox again about personal attacks with something to point to. Vjmlhds 05:11, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe. But it proves he's doing this for his own ego. And he'd be smart to delete that because it's pretty open evidence of unhelpful and disruptive editing for the purpose of bait. SkylerLovefist (talk) 05:35, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Then again, I am talking about a guy who tried logging out of his account to chastise me in an uncivil way, and who once told me I was "banned from his talk page." SkylerLovefist (talk) 05:42, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

For the future, when there's a custom design, put the standard belt pic in the "Belt design" section (if there is one). It makes more sense to go there than in "History" (which already had a pic of Jericho holding the belt). JDC808 23:03, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
