Retired?!?

Ho, wait, hold on: retired?!? Why?!? Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 12:16, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Is it due to your eye problems Nvv? Did your doctor tell you that you can no longer look at a computer screen for a lengthy period? If so this is very sad and I will miss you greatly.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:04, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I find it hard to imagine a Wikipedia without you present. I, too, will miss you greatly. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:05, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Men do cry over certain things = this is one of them! --Doug Coldwell (talk) 13:46, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nvvchar, I can't believe it! If at all possible, please continue editing on WP! You're one of the best! We need you here! Have you looked into technology that converts written material into audible material, such as a screen reader? We all hope you are doing well, both with your vision and in general. Best wishes,  – Corinne (talk) 14:28, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What a shock! You'll be missed forever :(( Good luck and thanks for all you've done Sainsf (talk · contribs) 07:57, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! I just saw this when coming here to ask you a question. Am truly, truly sorry to see you gone. I do hope that this is not permanent, but understand that we must all make the choices in life that are in our best interests. Wishing you health and happiness. SusunW (talk) 22:42, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oh so sad! One big salute to you for your great great contribution to Wikipedia. You are inspiration for so many other editors. Thanks. I wish good and healthy life for you. Best Luck. --Human3015 TALK  18:04, 29 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just saw this. Sorry if I'm late. You will be missed, Sir. Do take care of your eyes and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia, which seems to be getting less brighter.  — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 05:07, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Am not very active on Wikipedia since the last few years. But ever since I started my journey here in 2004, you have been one of the most helpful and enthusiastic people I have met. All the best in whatever you are up to now, even if it's a gentle Ruskin Bond-esque retirement. With warmth and affection. VishalB (talk) 18:07, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Feeling sad. A big thank you for your vast contribution.--Nizil (talk) 14:10, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

GAs of yours at GAR

I want to tell you this but I nominated some of your other GAs are at GAR. One of these is Chamba, Himachal Pradesh which is still currently at GAR. While the other was Dwarka which was delisted earlier this month. I didn't mention it earlier since I had assumed you had retired but since your back I thought to mention this. DYK nomination of Budikote

Hello! Your submission of Budikote at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) at your nomination's entry and respond there at your earliest convenience. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Hi Nvv. Just a heads up. Take care with red links and typos, there was a few typos and unnecessary red links in this which could have easily been fixed if you'd gone through the article and found the correct links. Suggestion: After you've finished writing an article, read through it and double check for typos and to see that the red links don't point to an existing article. Thanks! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:30, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • @ Thanks Dr. Blofeld. I have addressed the issues raised by you. Can you please take a look at this artcile Wellesley Bridge, Srirangapatna for posting in DYK? Nvvchar. 16:42, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Close paraphrasing

Hi. I've mentioned my concern here that much of the text of Religious significance of rice in India is very closely paraphrased from the cited sources. I spot-checked some of your other current DYK noms and found similar problems.

For example, Bichali contains the phrase "lush green paddy fields, river spots, rocky hillocks, and sleepy hamlets", which is directly copied from the source; in Budikote, the first sentence of the History section is very similar to this source (p. 21), and the part about the radio station again contains a phrase directly taken from the source ("educating villagers on topics regarding agriculture, health, education and law"). I see similar issues have been pointed out at the Obelisk Monument nomination as well.

I see you've done a lot of valuable work on Wikipedia, but please take care not to follow the language of the sources too closely when writing new content. There is some advice at WP:FIXCLOSEPARA on how to avoid inadvertent close paraphrasing. Thanks. Sojourner in the earth (talk) 22:53, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
