Draft not submitted

Draft:Akhil Maheshwari has not been submitted to Articles for Creation for review. To submit, at the top of the draft type subst:submit inside of double curly brackets {{ }}, Before doing that, all of the journal refs are in a wrong format. To create journal refs, copy the PMID number that appears on the PubMed entry for an article. Put that number into https://tools.wmflabs.org/citation-template-filling/cgi-bin/index.cgi This generates ref content. David notMD (talk) 10:58, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:GNS logo updated 010921.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 13:18, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Global Newborn Society requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Nomination of Global Newborn Society for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Global Newborn Society is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Global Newborn Society until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:36, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your objection is "We are a globally-active, non-profit, registered 501(c)(3) organization focused on newborn health, not a profit-seeking organization. Please consider this page as it can help promote enrollment all over the world". Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a means to promote anything. As your only actions have been on Akhil Maheshwari and related topics, I think it may be in the project's interests to block you from editing, but I think you should be allowed to state your case at the above discussion first. However, if your defence involves further promotional attempts, you may be blocked anyway. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:41, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi Jhuma1971! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Jhuma1971. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Global Newborn Society, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Kj cheetham (talk) 15:59, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jhuma1971, I wanted to confirm, do you have any connection at all to Akhil Maheshwari? You've effectively already said you have a connection to Global Newborn Society (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Global_Newborn_Society&diff=1065254139&oldid=1065251652&diffmode=source), which he is involved with. Can you clarify your connection? Thank you. -Kj cheetham (talk) 16:48, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jhuma1971, please could you clarify the situation regarding your connection? -Kj cheetham (talk) 20:09, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the question. I am a software engineer from New Delhi and frequently visit the United States. I am closely involved with the establishment of the Global Newborn Society as I have lost infants in my family. I could not afford to buy computers and he personally donated those for this effort. There is a need for organizations such as these - infants have the same death rates as those of 58-60 year olds, and we need more social attention to this issue. Maheshwari's efforts are important - the GNS has no financial conflicts - they finance everything through personal donations, including the journal that they are developing. Please visit the website https://www.globalnewbornsociety.org that Maheshwari has developed himself. On this website, you can see that there are no charges for joining the organization. Please join us - we need every bit of help so that this becomes a truly international movement.

I have responded to the questions on the website. I have added a line on the page for neonatologists to acknowledge the 3 best known organizations. Newborn care is very expensive and in developing countries, it is hard to keep a baby alive. Sadly, many parents have to just let go. There are "too many" external references because there was no choice.

Maheshwari is a highly-renowned neonatologist who has given up his job at Johns Hopkins to do this. Can we ask for more?

01/23/22

After much discussion and thought about the guidance, we believe that we have made most of the suggested changes, including reduction in the primary references. Please accept the article if you think similarly, or guide us on what else should be done.

01/23/22

We have resolved the three issues:

(1) Unbalanced scales.svg A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject. It may require cleanup to comply with Wikipedia's content policies, particularly neutral point of view. Please discuss further on the talk page. (January 2022) (Learn how and when to remove this template message) Question book-new.svg

Response: the writer has responded above.

(2) This article relies too much on references to primary sources. Please improve this by adding secondary or tertiary sources. (January 2022) (Learn how and when to remove this template message) Wiki letter w.svg

The references have been reduced from 38 to 18 with more emphasis on secondary references.

(3) This article is an orphan, as no other articles link to it. Please introduce links to this page from related articles; try the Find link tool for suggestions. (January 2022)

The connections have been added.

Do these modifications look adequate?

Hi, without looking at the article, I feel I should remind you that Wikipedia is WP:NOTADVOCACY, no matter how noble the cause. Also, in a few instances you've used the term "we" to refer to your editing, please can you confirm that this account is only used by a single person? As WP:SHAREDACCOUNTs are not allowed. Thank you. -Kj cheetham (talk) 09:40, 24 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"We" refers to members of the Rotary - Metro Bethesda - we have made this site. There is no advocacy. Maheshwari is a member, but he has no input. The writer is one designated person who writes on behalf of the club. We can change the procedure, but please guide us. We want to send Maheshwari to Nigeria for a project for the Rotary Maternal Child Health (RMCH), and Wikipedia is a great resource. Most of our target audience does not have access to computers/education to understand formal CVs, but they have a phone. That's why "we" are so desperate to have this page.

Once we understand the procedure a bit better, we would like to submit pages for Rotary Maternal Child Health, the Global Newborn Society, and similar societies in the Middle East, Mongolia, Nigeria, and South America. We could all help possible. We feel that if we can learn this at the Rotary, the money can actually go the babies who need help.

Hi. In terms of submitting new articles, I suggest going through the WP:AFC process rather than trying to directly create articles or moving them yourself from draft. I note a previous Global Newborn Society article has already been deleted. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not the place to promote anything really, and it is not a webhost for other materials to share with people with limited computer access. There is clearly a WP:COI given your involvement with that society. Articles can be created if they are notable - I suggest taking a look at this page: Wikipedia:Notability. I suggest visiting Wikipedia:Teahouse to ask for further guidance if required. -Kj cheetham (talk) 20:43, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, to clarify, an article is an WP:ORPHAN when there are no wikilinks to it from other articles. -Kj cheetham (talk) 20:52, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

25 January 2022 6 PM EST Added links to external and internal sources. Please guide if this corrects the "orphan" status. We are discussing the pages you suggested at the Rotary to understand this. Much appreciated.

I recommend removing most of the external links, as per WP:ELNO. For the "orphan" status the only thing that matters is internal links to the article from other articles, as you did on List of countries by infant and under-five mortality rates - so I'll remove the orphan tag for that reason. Also, to sign your message on talk pages, you can use -~~~~ and it'll automatically add the date as your signature. -Kj cheetham (talk) 09:52, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So grateful for the guidance. I have changed the links. Found a wonderful link on the partnerships. Jhuma1971 (talk) 14:58, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I hope that the issues for links looks better. I hope that the issue of modifications will get better with time with contributions from other Wikipedia readers.Jhuma1971 (talk) 08:32, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I am really surprised to see that most the links in Wikipedia that were relevant to the Global Newborn Society were deleted! This is very important. First we received a very constructive criticism that the page should be linked to Wikipedia pages relevant to the Global Newborn Society. Our group at Rotary worked for hours to identify those and listed those. Now someone has deleted all of those. Very honestly, we are losing some enthusiasm. The group functioning can be constructive, but it can also be harmful. There is no way to see how these links could have been harmful for Wikipedia or "favoring" Maheshwari Jhuma1971 (talk) 00:00, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:GNS Logo file.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:GNS Logo file.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 06:43, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:48, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Global Newborn Society.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:DECORATIVE non-free use in Akhil Maheshwari#Global Newborn Society which fails WP:NFCC#8. A non-free logo such as this could possibly used at the top of or in the main infobox of a stand-alone article about the "Global Newborn Society" if one could be created per WP:NORG, but it's use in the biography article about the organiztion's founder isn't really warranted per WP:NFC#CS since seeing the logo isn't really necessary for the reader to understand the article content about the organization and there's no sourced critical commentary specifically related to logo itself that would be hard to understand without seeing the logo.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:50, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Akhil Maheshwari, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Jhuma1971, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jhuma1971|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}.
