New OTT Platform "AK Online" to be added to the list on the Table in this Article.

Information to be added or removed: "AK Online" - Description "OTT Platform for Independent Films exclusively", Launched by Arunkanth, Organisation name "Info Pluto Media Works". This need to be added to the list of OTT platforms on the table. This OTT platform was launched exclusively for Indie Films. This was started in late 2019 and now functioning full fledged. Explanation of issue: As I am the wife of the owner of this AK Online - OTT platform - There could be conflict of interest in wikipedia if i edit the article. so i request you to consider adding this. Below is the link of the National Daily newspaper article supporting this. References supporting change: http://cms.newindianexpress.com/states/tamil-nadu/2020/sep/02/now-an-ott-platform-only-for-indie-films-2191334.html Vaishnavidurai (talk) 02:37, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Vaishnavidurai, and thank you for your suggestion. To be included on this list, a platform must have a Wikipedia article, which requires a demonstration of notability. As far as I can tell, AK Online does not have its own article. I am sorry, but for that reason, this edit request must be declined. Best, Altamel (talk) 03:40, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Censorship section

I recently edited the 'Censorship' section of the article and, in particular, deleted the 'Reasons' subsection, which purported to provide the motivation for content regulations introduced by the Government of India in Feb 2021. To expand upon my edit-summaries, here are the reasons I did so:

  • the section was extremely poorly written to the point of being indecipherable.
  • while that could be remedied by copyediting alone, the section content was also mainly original research (in wikipedia parlance) drawing links that the sources didn't.
  • the deleted content also miscited/misrepresented the sources in some instances
  • BLP concerns as in the gratuitous reference to the arrested Raj Kundra as 'X's husband'
  • I also renamed the section from 'Censorship' to 'Content regulation' because, again, we need a source (and perhaps attribution) before we apply the censorship label and cannot base this upon what individual wikipedia editors think of the regulations. By the way, we would similarly need reliable sources and attribution for labeling any content aired by the OTT's as 'porn'. Don't use the such labels in wikipedia's voice unless you can make the case that that description is indisputable.

Objections and comments welcome. Abecedare (talk) 18:24, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Note: I have again removed the disputed material re-added by Sandymark11 and warned them for edit-warring. To point out another instance of source mispresentation (along with poor-writing, sourcing and labeling issues mentioned above), consider this claim:

Then 42 OTT APP Had Been Banned Which is Showning Pornographic Content, And Serval Soft Pornographic Scenes has been removed From Various OTT Platform.[1]

The linked source is
  • not titled "Soft porngraphic ott will be Banned"
  • the source website is essentially user-generated content ("legal Articles written by imminent [sic] writers and legal experts") and is not a reliable source.
  • The cited article, in any case, does not make any claim that "42 OTT Apps had been banned..."

Not done: Your proposed note comes off as promotional and violates the neutral point of view policy. The source you've provided here does not appear to be reliable, and the Indian Express source above does not mention the parent company. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 23:04, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
