List of lowest-income places in the United States

According to the United States Census Bureau the following are the places in the United States with the lower per capita income. The locations are listed with their per capita income and their population. The poorest sizable town (with a population of 13,138) is Kiryas Joel, New York which has a per capita income of just $4,355.

Locations with more that 3,000 population

Of the major locales with the lowest per capita income in the United States, seven are in Texas and all of these have at least a 97% Hispanic population. Two are in Arizona; Colorado City is a Mormon community, while San Carlos is an Apache Indian Reservation.

The remaining three are Hasidic, Jewish communities, all in New York. Kiryas Joel, is a Satmar community, Kaser is a Viznitz community, and New Square is a Skver community.
