Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party is an upcoming title for the Wii from Konami scheduled for a 2007 release. It will be an installment in the popular rhythm game series Dance Dance Revolution. In addition to the traditional dance pad, which will utilize the Wii's Nintendo GameCube controller ports, Hottest Party will also support the Wii Remote and Nunchuk attachment, allowing the user to use their hands while playing. In the demo, a new type of arrow, resembling two vertical lines, signified motioning with the Wii Remote or Nunchuk instead of stepping on the mat. As of now, the only motions are moving or shaking the remote and Nunchuk, though Konami is planning to allow more actions.
Unlike the GameCube game Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix, which had a Mario theme and was geared more toward children, Hottest Party will be a standard Dance Dance Revolution game.
A demo shown to press in February 2007 included three songs. The final game will include 50 songs from the last "four decades of music".[1] Several modes of multiplayer for up to four players will be included, including an upgraded version of the classic Battle Mode, a new Friendly Sync mode in which all participants must perform actions in sync to get credit for them, and an as-yet-unexplained Support Mode. Workout Mode, previously a standard in DDR games, is not included in this iteration. [2]
The dance mats from Mario Mix will be compatible with the game.[3] It would be assumed that any third-party dance pad designed for use on the GameCube will be similarly compatible.
