Error reports
Please only post error reports regarding what is currently on the main page or on Main Page/Tomorrow here.
For general main page discussions, go to Talk:Main Page.

Main page error reports

To report an error you have noticed on the current main page or tomorrow's main page please add it to the appropriate section below. You can do this by pressing the [edit] button to the right of the appropriate section's heading. Also, please sign your post using four tildes (~~~~)

Note that the current date and time are in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which may not coincide with your local time zone. The next day's featured article of the day, picture of the day, and anniversaries update at midnight (00:00) according to UTC. The current time is 00:15 on August 15, 2024 (UTC). (Update)

Once an error has been fixed, the error report will be removed from this page; please check the page's history to verify that the error has been rectified and for any other comments the administrator may have made. Lengthy discussions should not take place here. References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error, and a suggested rewording is helpful with a stylistic complaint. The main page usually defers to supporting pages for facts.

Errors in the summary of Today's featured article on the Main Page

On tomorrow, 'is located across from the World Trade Center site' doesn't explain what it is across (didn't we already have a report of this?) Modest Genius talk 18:31, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, same item, the link to September 11, 2001 does not respond to date format preferences, not sure how to fix that. Further down there is an unlinked September 11, again breaking preferences. And on a purely stylistic point, I suggest linking 'power substation' to a relevant article. Modest Genius talk 18:42, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Non-wikilinked dates, and dates that are pipelinks to another article, are not adjusted according to preferences. I have made some changes to the September 11 attacks link but can't do much for the second one. Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh 00:37, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Errors in In the news

See WP:ITNMP. If you want news, go to Portal: Current events. --74.14.21.230 (talk) 14:42, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not entirely comfortable with the phrasing of the IPCC item. The problem is that it didn't release the AR4 today, but part of it. Other parts have already been published, and one more is yet to be finalised. Not sure how best to phrase the item to avoid misleading people. Modest Genius talk 18:47, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Permanent danger"

Neither the words 'permanent' nor 'irreversible' are in the article; where is this mentioned? I've had this asked on WT:ITN for over 12 hours now, if this isn't answered soon I will remove that part of the sentence personally. --Golbez (talk) 22:23, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree and I removed the word, although it does say "for more than a millennium". A runaway greenhouse effect would be more nearly permanent, but that isn't in the article either. Art LaPella (talk) 23:56, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Errors in Selected anniversaries/On this day

Errors in Did you know?

2024-08-15T00:00:00Z

'only one woman and two children surviving' is misleading, since 84 men also survived. Modest Genius talk 18:26, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up and old items

This holding area is for items that require further follow-up (for example, a general point that needs to be raised elsewhere), or for items that haven't been dealt with but where the topic under discussion is no longer on the Main Page. The items listed here should eventually be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as:
