Grace Jones (b. May 19, 1948), born Grace Mendoza, in Spanish Town, Kingston, Jamaica is a model, singer and actress.

Jones is known for her post-modern costuming and performance, at which she dressed in men's clothing, S&M outfits, and gorilla suits. She gained a reputation for temperament after she physically attacked British chat show host, Russell Harty, because he turned his back on her to speak to another guest.

Starting in the late 1970's, she became Andy Warhol's muse, appearing in many of his portraits and accompanying him to Studio 54 on many occasions.

Musically, she began singing disco, then moved on into quirky pop and reggae, featuring big names in Jamaican music on albums such as Nightclubbing. Later, she recorded hip-hop flavored dance music.

Jones played Bond girl May Day in the 1985 James Bond movie A View to a Kill. She later had a role in the 1992 Eddie Murphy film Boomerang. In 1986 she was a vampire in the film Vamp. Earlier in her acting career, she starred alongside future governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger and NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain in 1984's Conan the Destroyer. She also appeared in one episode of the Beastmaster television series as the Impatra Warrior, dressed in complete West African constume.

She appeared in the September 1987 issue of Playboy magazine with Dolph Lundgren.

In April 2005, she was escorted off a train by British police after a row with a female ticket inspector. She had been asked to pay extra for a seat upgrade.

One of her trademarks is her androgyny. She once sang the line, "Feeling like a woman/Looking like a man." In the early 1980s, Annie Lennox of the Eurythmics was often referred to as "the white Grace Jones."
