DYK nomination

Hi, I've nominated an article you worked on, [[57th Wing]], for consideration to appear on the Main Page as part of Wikipedia:Did you know. You can see the hook for the article at Template talk:Did you know#Articles created on May 16 where you can improve it if you see fit. MeegsC | Talk 22:19, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:325_CES.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:325_CES.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 05:39, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Warriors_of_the_North.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Warriors_of_the_North.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:05, 27 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 15:05, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Military Barnstar

Thank you for your award and your kind words about the articles I've created and edited here. I'm a retired USAF captain (1972 - 1993) btw. I've been a bit under the weather the past few days and this is the first time I've been able to thank you :)

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! There is however another Wikimedia foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please consider creating an account and uploading media there instead. That way, all the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view images you have previously uploaded by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'image' namespace from the drop down box). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!

WikiProject Military history banner tags

Hello. Is there a reason you are incorrectly re-assessing ship disambiguation pages from class NA to stub ([1], [2]) for WikiProject Military history? --Kralizec! (talk) 01:08, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your speedy assistance in fixing the issue! --Kralizec! (talk) 17:44, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Special Operations Squadron series

Kudos for very nice work! I did notice though that the articles lack inline citations. If there any chance you could provide a few while the project is still fresh in your mind? All the best, --ROGER DAVIES talk 15:57, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of 20th Special Operations Squadron, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.specialoperations.com/USAF/Units/16thSOW/20thSOS.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Better source request for Image:NAF_Mildenhall.jpg

I'd like to know their website address since I do not think this is a work of the United States Federal Government (or Navy). MECUtalk 20:16, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we're one step closer, but I couldn't find this image on that website. Can you give a more specific location? Thanks for working with me on this. MECUtalk 01:17, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect! Thanks for your help. MECUtalk 14:07, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for the barnstar! I haven't really had the courage to branch out from USMC articles until recently; but having passed my year and a half mark as an editer (one year with an account), I realized I wasn't a newbie anymore. Hope to see you around, airman! bahamut0013 21:02, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(military history)

Comment: It's not a "really big issue", but I find your edit comment "(military history)" not particularly informative. Yes, it's better than no comment at all, but I still felt the need to go look at the diff to find out what it meant. Had your comment said something more informative (I don't know - maybe "add military history project box"?) my life (and everyone else in the WP community who saw it and didn't know what it meant), would have been simpler.
My 2¢- / tuppence- / whatever-worth; take it with a grain of salt. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 12:36, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of 90th Fighter Squadron

A tag has been placed on 90th Fighter Squadron requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. nancy (talk) 19:32, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributions

Hi!

Congratulations on your stream of quality articles. I'm impressed by your industry! You can, by the way, self-assess your own articles, up to and including B-Class, by adding class=stub or class=start to the template perameters. Some editors prefer to have others rate their B-Class articles, which they do here. Please keep up the good work, --ROGER DAVIES talk 05:43, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The WikiChevrons
For your many high-quality articles on US fighter formations, I hereby award you the Military history WikiProject WikiChevrons. --ROGER DAVIES talk 05:43, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, nice article! I am actively seeking information on aerial victories claimed and losses sustained by 57th Fighter Group during the North African campaign, especially the timeframe August, September 1942. Do you happen to have some insight into this information? MisterBee1966 (talk) 15:58, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Missing image Image:60 APS.jpg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:60 APS.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:60 APS.jpg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:60 APS.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. • Thank you for the cookie! It was my honor to serve proudly. I wish my service wasn't cut short by my disability I suffered, but alas it was. The years I was blessed with in the USAF were more than I could have ever imagined or asked for. My only regret was that d*mn "bulletproof" vest that the military hands out. Bulletproof my a**. Anyhow... Thank you again for the cookie! It was my honor to serve for great Americans and imigrants to America, such as yourself =) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbreseman (talkcontribs) 14:20, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
