TV Patrol World is the flagship national network news broadcast of ABS-CBN in the Philippines. It can be heard simultaneously in DZMM and its TV counterpart, DZMM TeleRadyo. TV Patrol celebrates their 20th anniversary since its inception in 1987 (as TV Patrol), it has been the longest running Filipino primetime newscast.
TV Patrol (1987-2004)
When it debuted on March 2, 1987, it was known simply as TV Patrol (first ever tabloid newscast). A youthful-looking Philippine Vice President Noli de Castro was one of the principal anchors of TV Patrol in its debut, along with Robert Arevalo who was eventually replaced by Frankie Evangelista after two months, with Mel Tiangco, and Angelique Lazo, and later Ted Failon and Christine Bersola-Babao in place of Angelique Lazo. [1] Also, Ernie Baron served as the programme's chief meteorologist and provided viewers trivia pertaining to science and history. Mel Tiangco moved to GMA Network when she was suspended for doing a TV commercial. Eventually, De Castro became the sole anchor in January 20, 1997.
When De Castro ran for the Philippine Senate in 2001, he was replaced by Korina Sanchez. She was joined by Henry Omaga-Diaz and Aljo Bendijo. Marc Logan served as the news reader of trivial segments and features. After several changes in the anchor chair, the newscast was anchored by Korina Sanchez and Julius Babao until November 19 2004, before being reintroduced to TV Patrol World.[2]
TV Patrol still holds the record of having the highest rating newscast when former anchor Korina Sanchez had an exclusive live interview with Kris Aquino regarding the latter's break-up with Joey Marquez. According to AGB, the interview garnered a rating of 47.2% in Mega Manila.[3] It also holds the highest nationwide TV ratings record since Taylon Nelson Sofres (TNS) started conducting its nationwide TV ratings survey when its April 16, 2009 edition of the newscast featured the developing story of the tragedy involving the wife of TV Patrol news anchor Ted Failon.[4]

Theme Music
The music used by TV Patrol during 1987-1992 is from the Greek composer Vangelis with the track "Pulstar". After that on 1992-1996, Ryan Cayabyab composed an original theme for both TV Patrol & The World Tonight, respectively. When Noli de Castro went solo, it adopted the music entitled "Allegro" from Gari Communications. "Allegro" originated on the San Francisco CBS owned station KPIX-TV in 1992. To this day, TV Patrol World still uses the same melodic theme with re-arrangement done by Jimmy Antiporda (the old theme still used in the radio).
