The 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide football team represents the University of Alabama in the college football season of 2009–2010. The team plays its home games at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and competes in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference. The Crimson Tide have continued their success from the 2008 season where they went undefeated in the regular season for a second consecutive season. The Tide continued its winning streak through the SEC Championship on December 5 with an upset of the #1 Florida Gators.

Schedule notes

  • Alabama's 2009 Football Schedule was officially released on December 19, 2008.[7]
  • The annual A-Day game was played on April 18 and was televised live by ESPN.
  • The Crimson Tide opened the season in the Chick-fil-A College Kickoff for the second consecutive season.
  • The Tide had one bye week in 2009 which occurred the week after the Tennessee game, but prior to Alabama playing LSU.
  • Alabama's 2009 SEC schedule drops the Georgia Bulldogs, whom the Tide played the previous two seasons, for the South Carolina Gamecocks, who will be on the schedule through the 2010 season. The Kentucky Wildcats will remain on the schedule for the 2009 season and will be replaced in 2010 with the Florida Gators.[8]
  • The annual Iron Bowl game will be moved to the Friday after Thanksgiving Day and will be televised to a national audience by CBS.[9]
