Andrea Caccese

Andrea Caccese (born 16 July 1988) is an Italian singer-songwriter, guitarist and musician[1].

Biography

Early Life

Caccese was born in Naples, Italy. Since the age of four he and his family moved several times within the country, only to later relocate back to their former hometown in september 2001. During that time Caccese experienced life in Taranto and Milan, two cities located in opposite geographical locations and animated by different lifestyles and cultural vibes.

At secondary school and during high school, Andrea showed very little, if any, interest in the classes, focusing instead on listening to music and scribbling lyrics and short poems during lessons. The interest in music became prominent as the young musician started to play guitar and sing in several local alternative rock bands, eventually starting punk rock act The Wisers in late 2007.

Current Life

After barely getting through high school, Caccese started to focus full-time on his former band, The Wisers. Despite several line up changes, the group managed to release two records and tour most of Europe within 2007 and 2010. The group came to an end because of personal reasons just a few months after the release of their last EP (The Fall). After the band called it a day, Caccese got involved in the recording project U.A.R. and started to work as a freelance promoter and journalist for Neapolis Festival, FreakOut Magazine and Sit Still Promotion.

Not attending a University and becoming alienated from most of his social circle and friends, Caccese also had to deal with the lack of a former education in a country (Italy) that was undergoing one of its worse political and economical crisis.

In September 2010, the lack of opportunities led Caccese to relocate to Västerås, Sweden, to move in with his girlfriend and to continue to work with his music. During this time, the musician performed a few solo shows all over Europe and recorded many drafts for his upcoming debut EP.

Music

The Wisers

Andrea Caccese was the main songwriter, singer and guitarist in his former band, The Wisers, active from late 2007 till late 2010. The group released an album (The Wisers - The less you know, the more you live - Songcast Music) and an EP (The Fall - Sit Still Promotion). The recordings gained good reviews and enough exposure within the european underground music scene to get the band on two headlining european tours, including gigs in Italy, Germany, Austria, England, Scotland, Ireland, Switzerland, Sweden, Danmark and the Netherlands[2].

The Wisers broke up for personal reasons at the end of 2010, a few months after releasing their last EP. All the band catalog has been released via Songcast Music through major online music retailers and aggregators (such as iTunes, Amazon, Napster, Emusic, LastFM and more). The full band discography has been set available for free download after the hiatus.

Solo Career

After relocating to Sweden, Caccese appeared in a few solo shows in Sweden, England, Italy and Spain, performing acoustic version of his former band's tunes and a few cover songs. During the tour, Caccese wrote many drafts for new songs and recorded them on his laptop. Once back home in Västerås, the musician started to weed out the recorded material to only focus on four tunes to be featured in a solo EP, choosing to present himself to the audience with his real name[3].

Icarus Falling / Set the World on fire (Sit Still Promotion)

Despite the recording’s instinctive approach and “on the road” birth, Icarus Falling / Set the world on fire EP was released after only a few minor cuts and editing to the original recording sessions in apartments, hotel rooms, trains and airports during Andrea’s travels all over Europe in late 2010. Västerås musician Nadja Ali took part to the final stage of the recording sessions as a cellist. The EP showcases intimate lo-fi production, acoustic guitars and ghostly electric guitar feedbacks and melodies over four songs. Each track brings a different mood and feeling to the record, incorporating bits of many different musical influences: folk and post rock blend in, leaving plenty of room for hints of alternative rock, 60s pop and ambient to meddle in.
