Blind auditions

The blind auditions began in Salford, Manchester on 14 December 2012 at MediaCityUK after moving from BBC Television Centre in London. Each coach has the length of the artists' performance to decide if they want that artist on their team. Should two or more coaches want the same artist, then the artist gets to choose their coach. Once the coaches have picked their team, they are to pit them against each other in the ultimate sing off; the battles.[6]

Battle rounds

This year's battle rounds will feature a new "steal" twist. After each battle round the losing artist will then pitch to the other three coaches on why they should join their team. It is then up to the coach (who have a limited amount of time) to press their red button to the steal the artist. They can press their button as many times as they like but are only allowed to steal one artist. If more than one coach wants to steal the same artist then it is up to the artist to decide which team to join.

The battle round advisors are will.i.am working with Dante Santiago, Jessie J with Claude Kelly, Tom Jones with Cerys Matthews and Danny O'Donoghue with Dido.
