C.I.D. (Crime Investigation Department) is an Indian crime detective television anthology series created by B. P. Singh for Sony Entertainment Television India and Sony Entertainment Television Asia. It stars Shivaji Satam as ACP, Aditya Srivastava and Dayanand Shetty as Senior Inspectors. The location of the series is set in Mumbai, India. Following a pilot episode on 29 April 1997, the series premiered on 21 January 1998 and is the longest running television series in India, having completed eighteen years in 2015. The series completed 1000 episodes on Friday, 27 September 2013.[2]
The CID team track criminals, led by various clues.[3]
Format
Every week, three new cases are shown and each case airs for one hour. Sometimes a case is being split across two episodes, but this happens occasionally. The series is about a team of detectives belonging to the Crime Investigation Department of Mumbai Police. The series consists of criminal cases that are solved by the CID team. ACP Pradyuman (Shivaji Satam), Abhijeet (Aditya Srivastava) and Daya (Dayanand Shetty) are an elite trio of officers who work for the CID. They seek the help of professional forensic expert Dr. Salunkhe (Narendra Gupta) and solve high-profile cases with the entire CID team. These characters find the crime suspects and wrong doers.
Production
Foreign locations have included places like Uzbekistan, a major shoot in Paris, and Switzerland which included tourist attractions like Interlaken as well as cities such as Berne and Zurich. The major shoot in Paris-Switzerland was for the CID special episode "Aakhri Chunauti", and a part of the production team's 13th anniversary celebration plan.[4]
