Hello Matthew,
Sorry for the delayed response. I just got back from a road trip to Florida. I appreciate everything you've done for me and would like to say thank you. I do have one request with what you've posted. Please delete AllMusic from the article. Their information is still inaccurate after 5 years. MusicBrainz is already listed and their information is accurate.
I have no problems waiting until you return to tweak things. I don't like changing horses in mid-stream, especially when things are working out.
Again thanks, and have a safe trip. And sure, if you're in the Northern Virginia area, give me a holler. I'm still having difficulty navagating your site.

Mike Johnson, Rougshod

M2E is the solution that powers dozens of thousands retailers (inc. SME's!!) allowing them to sell on multi channels at no cost. It has been awarded “best UK product 2012” (link is in the article) and has been sponsored and promoted by eBay Inc (link in the article, YouTube video). Uniqueness of this company is that it facilitates over 1 500 000 000 USD of GMV a year and cost ZERO to businesses !! If you require references, these can be provided at very high level at eBay Inc.

Also please Google for keywords “ Magento eBay ”, “ Magento Amazon ” & “ Magento Rakuten ” to see how popular this product is among FREE and GENUINE search results.

15:56:31, 4 July 2015 review of submission by Walking High Point

Walking High Point (talk) 15:56, 4 July 2015 (UTC) Why doesn't Wikipedia show up when I do a Google search for John Harrison Finger?Walking High Point (talk) 15:56, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Walking High Point - Wikipedia has no influence at all on how or when Google do whatever they do. It can take several days for Google to index new Wikipedia articles, but it's really not our concern. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:01, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

18:50:38, 4 July 2015 review of submission by Mexico76

Draft:Teardrain

Mexico76 (talk) 18:50, 4 July 2015 (UTC) Hi. I was wondering why Allmusic.com and Discogs are considered nonvalid sources. I referred to several band pages from Wikipedia to create this page and they seem to be the standard sources. Other than sending in the physical materials (i.e., albums, pictures, magazine articles, radio concerts/plays, television show inclusions, etc.) how else can one prove the information is correct? I would also like to know what is the criteria for inclusion. Many bands are included with the same -- or even less -- type of information from these sources, and yet they remain on Wikipedia. Please advise. The submission was for a band called Teardrain. If it would be better to have Wikipedia create the page themselves, please let me know.[reply]

@Mexico76: Discogs is not reliable because it is user-generated. Whether Allmusic is reliable or not is more nuanced. You can read past discussions about it here. If you were writing about the album Speak No Evil and needed a reference for the fact that all of the pieces on it were written by Wayne Shorter, either of the following citations would be fine:
  • "Speak No Evil - Wayne Shorter". AllMusic.
  • Blumenthal, Bob (1999). Speak No Evil (CD booklet). Hollywood, California: Blue Note. p. 3.
Online sources are easier to verify, but offline liner notes, magazine articles, TV programs, and yes, even books, are perfectly acceptable. No need to send anything anywhere.
The inclusion criteria for musicians are complex. Be certain in your own mind which criterion or criteria a band satisfies, and make it clear in the article lead. Most bands do not warrent a stand alone encyclopedia article. Wikipedia is forever a work in progress. It contains high quality content and low quality content. The existence of articles that don't follow the guidelines is not an excuse to create more articles like that. See the essays Other stuff exists and Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions for further explanation. It's natural to learn by example, but be sure you're learning from excellent examples, like Wikipedia's featured articles about music. Worldbruce (talk) 17:51, 5 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

06:04:45, 6 July 2015 review of submission by Merise

Hi, I just re-submitted this article after correcting the references as best I could. One thing I'm not sure about is why the web citations are showing up in a numerical order differing from their appearance in the body of the article. Any advice on this (or on improving the article) appreciated. Merise (talk) 06:04, 6 July 2015 (UTC)Merise[reply]

Merise (talk) 06:04, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Merise: The <ref>source citation stuff</ref> is to be placed, not at the top of the article, but immediately after the text the citation supports, replacing the [http://...]'s you have in the body text. I did the Rolling Stone citation for you. Try to fix the others the same way. Worldbruce (talk) 19:31, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 12:12:26, 6 July 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Mattyp783

I submitted an article, Israelife, for review and it was initially rejected because there were not enough sources. I made the requested changes; however, the reviewer left a messaging saying they were no longer reviewing articles. I need someone to review and approve the page.

Mattyp783 (talk) 12:12, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Mattyp783: You and 1,300 others. The draft is in the queue and you can expect another review in a month or so. From a quick glance, the draft is a bit of a train wreck, so I suggest you use that time to more thoroughly familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's guidelines and improve the draft accordingly. We can provide more detailed and personalized assistance and guidance when we review it, but the closer to perfect you can get it on your own, the better. 13:03:19, 6 July 2015 review of submission by Eballard1214

Thank you for offering up your professional Wiki assistance! I am with CBRNE Tech Index and we are trying to start up our Wiki page with limited secondary sources available. Since we are a fairly new organization, not even a year yet, it has been hard to meet the strict notability guidelines. I am looking for any additional suggestions on how to pass our page review, as many editors have not been welcoming nor happy to assist me, they simply "speedy delete". It has been a pretty disappointing experience so far and I'm hoping it goes better from here on out. Thank you again for your help! -Emma

Eballard1214 (talk) 13:03, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Eballard1214: You are likely to find your welcome distinctly cool and the experience disappointing for as long as you write about something to which you have a close connection. Being closely connected, you may not be able to see that you're putting your interests ahead of Wikipedia's, or you may think they're congruent. You seem to believe it would be a good thing if the world knew more about CBRNE Tech Index. Maybe it would, but that is not Wikipedia's purpose, indeed it is the exact opposite. Wikipedia's function is to document those things that the world at large has already taken significant notice of. The fact that you are a new organization and are having a difficult time meeting the notability guidelines should strongly suggest to you that the organization shouldn't have an article on Wikipedia (most organizations don't, and shouldn't). Please read WP:BFAQ#COMPANY. I recommend that you set the draft aside and concentrate on the business of the organization. Come back in a year or two and, if the organization has become notable, odds are someone will have written a fine article about it. Worldbruce (talk) 21:59, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

14:07:18, 6 July 2015 review of submission by Jward4

I need your help. I am attempting to create a page that summarizes the DoD's Transition Assistance Program for Service members leaving the military (Draft:Transition Assistance Program) and am using information (that I wrote) from a government website (DoDtap.mil). This material is not copyrighted (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_status_of_work_by_the_U.S._government).

However, my article was declined because it is substantially similar to information on this page: https://www.linkedin.com/pub/naval-base-kitsap-transition-gps/92/90b/860 ... the problem is, the information on that page was taken from my source material. In effect, they copied-and-pasted the same non-copyrighted material that I'm referencing. Does this make their stolen information copyrighted?

Bottom line: I rewrote the content on my draft wikipedia page and hope that this solves the issue. But I'm honestly concerned that either I'm missing something or there is a misunderstanding of where my information came from. Thank you.

00:24:31, 7 July 2015 review of submission by Tush Dayo Pearl

I dont understand how and where the draft shows excessive detail in an advert form and also how do i remove the multiple unneeded external links? Tush Dayo Pearl (talk) 00:24, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Starting more or less at the top...
  • Wording like "celebrates" and "outstanding contribution and publicly excelled in their chosen field" and "the pioneer of awards platform that bridged gap" and "worthy Role Models in our society" and "Nigeria's Most Consistent All Youths Awards platform"... "the prestigious GeneSix Hotels and Suites"... and so on... is unduly promotional
  • Wording like "is a Nigerian Youth Project" and "A review is done yearly on the Student categories so as to portray the mission of the event" is vague... what does it mean?
  • "It was basically a platform for the up and coming stars to really make a point. It had an encouraging turn out of youths around, and was described as an impressive start"... "This was the show that really announced Tush as a brand to watch out"... "This event made a stand to be known as one of the most promising"... "it was an atmosphere of value"... this is fact-free promotional language. It does not impart any information
  • Lists of attending celebrities that may or may not be notable are not useful. If they need to be mentioned, at least wikilink them, plus include an inline citation to a reliable independent source that mentions them being there
  • Likewise lists of sponsors
  • The "Criticism" section is completely unsourced. Source it or get rid of it.
  • It would be a good idea to better format your references so that information on the publisher, author, date, page number, article title or other similar information is included
To remove unnecessary external links, click Edit at the top of the Draft, scroll down and remove any unnecessary lines, then save the page. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:37, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

00:29:08, 7 July 2015 review of submission by 82.159.127.166

I submitted an article for review and it was initially rejected by @MatthewVanitas: because the reference was not valid. I made the requested change. But the second reviewer Sulfurboy rejected it again saying "Fails for the same reasons given by MatthewVanitas". I am not sure what more changes I need to do as I have already done the changes MatthewVanitas asked for. Please help me to create this page about Börs Anders Öhman as his name is already in the list of bagpipe makers of Wikipedia and he deserves to have a page dedicated to him in Wikipedia since he is one of the well known makers of Swedish bagpipe and a great musician.

02:52:22, 7 July 2015 review of submission by VTflatlander

I am quite puzzled that my submission was declined. Most of my references were either from recently published books of widely recognized periodicals. I do not understand how these were not verifiable. If your editor could not locate them, I could supply copies from the originals. VTflatlander (talk) 02:52, 7 July 2015 (UTC) VTflatlander (talk) 02:52, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@VTflatlander, I have reverted the incorrect review and accepted the article. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:18, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Roger (Dodger67) for your quick response. I was thinking that writing for Wikipedia might be a fun way to pass the time once I retire. However, to receive such an off-handed rejection was very off-putting. The style difference I used in my references is noted and will be converted to the Wikipedia standard as I have time. I really appreciate your resolving this matter. VTflatlander (talk) 00:39, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi VTflatlander - You don't need to change the referencing style, it is perfectly acceptable. There is no official Wikipedia referencing standard, any style of referencing that meets the minimum criteria of WP:Verifiability (and for biographies of living people must be an inline method) is acceptable. In fact changing the referencing style without a good reason is deprecated. Unfortunately reviewers do sometimes make mistakes. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:43, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

03:56:57, 7 July 2015 review of submission by JKhade

JKhade (talk) 03:56, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review but which content or text of this draft you think is having material that does not meet Wikipedia's minimum standard for inline citations and you think it needs to cite sources using footnotes?? If you mention then I will be grateful. Last reviewer 'Primefac' left a note YouTube is not considered a reliable source and I removed that.

Some people would suggest that the Early Life section needs inline citations. But at any rate, statements like "music was made on Computers & laptop with Hi-End softwares & Gears" and "He did over 50 Jingles around 15 TV Soap Title Songs" and "He also did work for Academy Awards winning musician [1]A.R. Rahman for his movie Slumdog Millionaire" do each need inline citations to reliable sources.
You also do not currently have a reliable source for "Asad has the honor of being the first Sitarist to Perform at the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize Concert". Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:47, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

06:02:31, 7 July 2015 review of submission by 110.20.234.69

I translated this article from fr:George Wickham (a BA - French Good Article), and did some additional research from reliable sources. It has been declined twice for 'reading like an essay', and I don't think this is appropriate, because the article uses the opinions of experts for its commentary. When I have shown the draft in the IRC channel, people have been fairly positive about its appropriateness for the English Wikipedia. Where can I go from here?

110.20.234.69 (talk) 06:02, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I broadly agree with your summary, and I have therefore Accepted the Draft... it seems someone was planning to do this a month ago but never did. I have confirmed that the translation is suitably acknowledged in the edit history. Anyone concerned about an essay-like tone can improve the tone or indeed take it to Articles for Deletion if necessary. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:47, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

19:41:17, 7 July 2015 review of submission by 72.74.199.93

Hi. An article I submitted yesterday was just rejected and I'm not sure what the issue is. The person who reviewed it basically said it was too long and that it didn't have enough citations. I've re-read the AFC wizard twice and there's no mention about citation or length requirements. I don't mind adding more but there's already 90 sources and every single paragraph is cited. Almost all of them are from reputable newspapers, radio and television interviews.

I know it's not a featured article but I used some of the pages highlighted by the Internet culture wikiproject (William Gibson for example) as a guideline. This is as close as I could get on my first try. Is there anyway I can improve the page before I resubmit it?

08:59:17, 8 July 2015 review of submission by AbbyCollinsWilson

Our page has been reviewed, but not published. The reason for this is stated here: "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified. If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources." We aren't sure why this has happened as we have included authentic links (all external). Can someone help us with why this has been declined? Or maybe need to change the links?

AbbyCollinsWilson (talk) 08:59, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@AbbyCollinsWilson: Is the humble help desk fielding a question from the sovereign, or when you use "we" and "our" are you saying that you are a public relations and communications firm that has Zeev Aram as a client? Worldbruce (talk) 10:32, 8 July 2015 (UTC)}}[reply]
Hello Abby. I have had a look at your draft. The subject is notable, but the draft in its current state is not acceptable. It reads like an advertisement for Aram Designs Ltd.—not an encyclopedic biography. You have only 2 links which are to sources independent of the subject. One of them to Building Design is behind a paywall, and I have no idea whether it explicitly verifies the claim:
The other is to the The Guardian. All the rest are to other Wikipedia articles which verify nothing, or to Aram's own websites. You need several more like the Guardian article, and you need to format them properly as inline citations. Please read the pages that were linked in the reviewer's note which explain this
As Worldbruce noted above, you refer to "our" and "we". If you have any connection whatsoever, either personal or professional, with Zeev Aram or Aram Designs, then you need to read the WP:Conflict of interest for guidance when editing under those circumstances. One of the reasons why conflict of interest editing is strongly discouraged on Wikipedia is that it makes it very difficult to write a neutral objective article, and indeed to even see how promotional sentences like these are:
  • "is responsible for introducing to the London market some of the most important designers and designs over the last half a century"
  • "To accommodate Aram's growing business, the adjacent building at 110 Drury Lane was acquired and knocked through to 3 Kean Street to create the largest showroom for modern and contemporary furniture and lighting in London"
The article needs to be rewritten as neutral, factual, biography devoid of adjectives, and with all claims verified by independent sources. If not, it won't be accepted. Voceditenore (talk) 11:06, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Update Abby, I have cleaned up the formatting on your draft and added several independent references, properly formatted so you have a model to follow. I've also cleaned up some of the puffery, but there's still a lot more to remove/copyedit. You also need to turn this into a biographical narrative—not simply a list of accomplishments and notable friends/colleagues. I may do further work on this later, when I get the chance.Voceditenore (talk) 12:47, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Just wondering why the page has not been accepted, and what can be done to combat this.. Runluke (talk) 12:44, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Runluke, go to your draft. At the top is a big pink notice explaining why your draft was not accepted with links to the appropriate guidelines. Please read the notice, click on links, read the guidelines they link to—from beginning to end. Then, if you still have any questions, return here to the help desk. And while you're at it, if you have any connection whatsoever with this company or those who handle its public relations, please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for guidance when editing under those circumstances. 21:39:15, 8 July 2015 review of submission by Etna805

Hello TeaHouse,

I'm hoping to get some clear direction about a page I'm attempting to submit for a therapeutic boarding school. I'd really find value in getting some consistent information about how the sources can be improved. Unfortunately I believe that the direction I've received from some of the editors who declined the submission has been vague and in some cases, directly conflicted with previous editors advice. The school is well-known within the therapeutic boarding school community and there are loads of reliable sources that prove it "exists" but would like to learn where this can be improved. Should I remove all self-referencing material and include an "external link" section instead?

Just to give more context around the conflicting guidance I'm getting so far, here's a reply from a talk page from one editor, "The BBB reference is something, but only notes location. The Seattle Times reference is a good one - keep at that!" So after some re-working of the article, and submission the next editor replied with this to say about the same reference, "The organization must have been written about in reliable sources such as newspapers, magazines, etc. References that do not mention the organization (e.g. the Seattle Times article) are not appropriate."

In this case, the article references the founders and puts context primary reason for the creation of the school in the first place, which would seem to be an appropriate reference.

Thanks in advance for the input everyone.

@Etna805: I can see how that could be confusing. Everything you've been told is true, but reviewers have focused on different aspects without making that clear. Here's another perspective on the draft and how to move forward:
On one hand, the guidelines clearly state that high schools must satisfy the notability criteria, and the draft doesn't demonstrate notability.[note 1] On the other hand, if independent sources confirm they exist, degree granting high schools are routinely kept as the result of Articles for Deletion discussions, and the overarching principle here at Articles for Creation is to accept drafts that are likely to survive AfD. I wouldn't have declined the draft on the grounds of notability, but I would have either declined it as being too much like an advertisement or (if I couldn't locate better sources) dramatically slashed the content before accepting it.
Articles are supposed to be based primarily on independent, reliable, secondary sources about the subject. The draft only cites only one such source, NIPSA. One can't build much of an article on that. Sources that are not reliable (Bert Sperling's Best Places and myVisaJobs) should not be used at all, but the remaining sources could be used sparingly to fill in uncontroversial details and provide context.[note 2]
I'll help you try to find better sources, but if no one has written a book, scholarly journal paper, TV documentary, or magazine or newspaper article about the organization - a work that goes far beyond proving it exists and that has undergone the scrutiny of peers and editors before publication - then be prepared to gut the draft to get it approved, or perhaps, if TWAI is a significant employer or significant school in the area, change tack and mention TWAI in a sentence of a new Economy or Education section in the Troy, Montana article. If you do the latter, be sure to cover the other employers or schools of equal or greater significance in the area so that you don't give TWAI undue weight.
Notes
  1. ^ To demonstrate notability, multiple, independent, reliable, secondary sources containing significant coverage of the subject are required.
    • NIPSA is a directory-type listing, not significant coverage
    • NATSAP, and The Seattle Times do not mention TWAI, so they aren't significant coverage of it either
    • Bert Sperling's Best Places and myVisaJobs are not reliable sources
    • BBB, TWAI, and PR.com are not independent of the subject
So none of the draft's references help prove that the organization is notable, or in other words that it should have a stand alone encyclopedia article at all.
  2. ^ Be extremely careful how you use the article from The Seattle Times. Right now you're claiming it supports a sentence saying "kidnapped" when the newspaper article says no such thing. The draft also says "murdered" whereas the cited article says "charged with murder". Those discrepancies violate several Wikipedia policies. Also what you chose to include from the newspaper makes it sound like the school is intended to help people like the accused murderer. Perhaps it is, but more likely it's meant to help people like what the newspaper describes as a thieving-, car stealing-, murder-suicide-pact-entering daughter that the draft glosses over as "troubled".)
P.S. This is actually the Articles for Creation Help Desk, not the Teahouse, but this is a good place to ask your question, and hopefully this answer helps. Worldbruce (talk) 01:52, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ruben Hakobyan is actually a very famous Armenian singer, specialized in ethnographic, national, and patriotic folk songs. He is renowned both in Armenian and in other countries. It would be unfail to delete his profile. I don't really understand why would you suggest the page for deletion. Please give me more details to make corrections, and to avoid deletion. This is the first time I am writing an article, and it would be extremely disappointing for me in case this page is deleted. Thank you anyways.

I made corrections in the following page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruben_Hakobyan_(Ruben_Sasuntsi)#Publications Please remove the article as being suggested for deletion. I am sorry for any inconvenience: this is actually my first Wikipedia article. Thank you in advance.

@Notablearmenians: This page is for questions about the Articles for creation process. Had you followed through with the draft you started, Draft:Ruben Hakobyan (Ruben Sasuntsi), instead of creating Ruben Hakobyan (Ruben Sasuntsi) directly, you probably could have avoided a deletion nomination. Now it is out of our hands. At articles for deletion you can read about how to participate in the article's deletion discussion. The best way to avoid deletion is to improve the article by adding full citations to multiple, indepenent, reliable, secondary sources. Worldbruce (talk) 02:20, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My article creation was denied. I then added some more references. All my references I believe verify the claims made in the article and our independent sources which should show the veracity of the claims and the notability of the person described in the article. I was just wondering what I need to do, what is wrong with my references etc.? Thanks...

Article Declined and submitted for review

Hi, My article has been declined for some obvious reason. Unfortunately some other user has deleted lot of text from the article which i was surprised to see when it was reviewed. I have now reverted back to the text which i had submitted for review. I would appreciate if anyone can review it and suggest changes that may be required. Thanks article link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Al_Habtoor_Motors_LLC [[1]]

I am not sure how to add notability to it. Al Habtoor Motors is one of the well recognized in the region and has won several awards. I removed list of awards from the post since it may sound more like marketing. You will find complete original article which was declined first time here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Al_Habtoor_Motors_LLC&diff=663698329&oldid=663698160

It has list of awards and references also. At that time it was rejected for Unambiguous advertising or promotion. so i removed some text and above text was compiled by the same user who actually deleted the article and later moved to draft. i am not sure honestly what changes should i make now. I would appreciate if you can point me to an example so that it will be more in line. --Dubaiinfo (talk) 06:01, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Matthew, Sorry for the delayed response.
