I don't know if "Are you evil?" belongs here, but I believe WP:ZEN does, and that this list deserves to be in more or less alphabetical order. |

Usage
Opening a single subsection
- This template includes collapsible groups/sections. When it first appears, one of these groups/sections may be set to be visible ("expanded") while the others remain hidden ("collapsed") apart from their titlebars. To achieve this, include the parameter
|name
where name is one of the following words that identify the groups/sections (omit any speech or quotation marks): - building
- civility
- notability
- humour
Example of the syntax to show (uncollapse) any of the subsections:
{{Wikipedia essays|building}}
{{Wikipedia essays|civility}}
{{Wikipedia essays|notability}}
{{Wikipedia essays|humour}}
For example, {{Wikipedia essays|notability}}
will produce:
| |||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||
|
Opening multiple subsections
To show multiple, or all of, the subsections at once, use staten, e.g.:
{{Wikipedia essays|state=expanded|state1=collapsed|state2=collapsed|state3=expanded|state4=collapsed|state5=collapsed}}
Parameter state
controls the entire template; state1
controls the building essays; state2
controls the civility essays; state3
controls the notability essays; state4
controls the humour essays; state5
controls the 'About essays' section. These can be set to expanded
or collapsed
. The above example will produce this:
| |||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||
|
Background
This template combines the content of the 4 separate templates into one location, for easier watchlisting / updating / organizing / non-duplication / discovery:
- {{Essays on building Wikipedia}}
- {{Civility}}
- {{Essays on notability}}
- {{Humorous essays}}
- {{User essays}}
It was initially suggested and developed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Essays § Navbox separation or cohesion.
