::Sorry, but I strongly disagree with your philosophy. The user you are talking about is a person, not a "troll". And he was doing his best to improve the project. Yes, he was banned, just as many others, because this is very difficult editing environment for a number of reasons. This is all. ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Fitzcarmalan. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ITN recognition for Ali Abdullah Saleh

On 6 December 2017, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Ali Abdullah Saleh, which you nominated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. Stephen 04:11, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Campaignbox changes

Fitz, I would please ask that you cancel your edits (and revert of my edits) here [1] and here [2]. The subject of the article linked and referred to as the 1st intervention is about Turkey's first ground invasion of Syria in 2016-17. That one ended early last year. What you are referring to (overall Turkish actions in Syria) is covered in the article Turkish involvement in the Syrian Civil War. At the very least, as a compromise, please change the Turkish intervention in the Aleppo escalation box to Euphrates Shield since there are two Turkish interventions and a distinction is required between the two (2016-17 and 2018). Plus, Euphrates Shield is the common name for that operation and its well on its way to being renamed. As it stands now, it is miss-leading to just leave it as Turkish intervention, which implies there has only been one intervention. EkoGraf (talk) 16:50, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that the "involvement" article covers the whole thing, and I would gladly revert myself (which I just did). But I haven't come across any source describing Euphrates Shield as a "first intervention" and Olive Branch as a "second" one. Once Turkey intervened militarily in Syria, it never withdrew. You're also forgetting the Idlib operation, which could have easily been dubbed a "second intervention" had it opened a new front in the war or if it had received the amount of media attention that Afrin did. I simply disagree with terms like "first" or "second" unless backed by sources, especially when it's the title of the campaignbox. And mind you that there was a minor 2015 incursion by the TSK to relocate the Tomb of Suleyman Shah, which happened long before Euphrates Shield. So ES wasn't the first time Turkey intervened militarily in the Syrian war. Fitzcarmalan (talk) 17:11, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Its a matter of the names of those two specific articles. If they both were renamed to something other then intervention I would drop my request for 1st and 2nd. EkoGraf (talk) 21:39, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and changed it to Euphrates Shield and restored my version of the Idlib box, since the ordinals aren't needed anymore.
On a side note, what do you think of my proposal on Talk:Turkish military intervention in_Afrin#Title? It doesn't strike me as a controversial move (by that I mean Turkish military operation in Afrin, not the code name). Should I go ahead and do it? Fitzcarmalan (talk) 10:31, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you and fine by me. EkoGraf (talk) 16:48, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Balaha

I saw you tagged this as a G10 attack page, but I'm not seeing how this is. Is this a derogatory term I'm not aware of? RickinBaltimore (talk) 18:38, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's a nickname commonly associated with him by his opponents on social media. The literal translation in Egyptian Arabic is date (as in the fruit), which in this particular case means idiot. Fitzcarmalan (talk) 18:53, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for that! RickinBaltimore (talk) 18:55, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review, and let me know if you need any help incorporating the Voinovich material. I also feel that Russian sources would be a great addition to the article. Fitzcarmalan (talk) 11:41, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Russian occupations of Beirut

On 29 May 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Russian occupations of Beirut, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Russian occupations of Beirut in 1772 and 1773 marked the first period in over 250 years that Beirut was ruled by a power other than the Ottoman Empire? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Russian occupations of Beirut. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Russian occupations of Beirut), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

"Fringe views"

Thanks for your comments at Talk:Douma chemical attack. I'm disturbed by the increasing trend on Wikipedia for editors to describe work by mainstream, even hugely famous reporters or experts as "Fringe." As if the universe itself stopped at whatever banal news article they last skimmed. The outcome is that instead of summarizing commentary or hotly contested topics for readers, editors are presenting partisan or contested portions of coverage as WP:TRUTH. This is behavior I'd previously seen only at articles on topics related to disputes surrounding nationalism, where it is similarly destructive. -Darouet (talk) 20:43, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sana'a

Hi Despite the fact that this user shouldn't be EoL, he is clearly attempting to impose Houthi POV in WP. There source said that the demonstration was pro-Houthi but the delete the words because the Houthis claims that the demonstration is not pro Houthi. --Panam2014 (talk) 16:30, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

He/she is right in saying that the source doesn't say whether the demonstrators are "pro-Houthi" or not, which doesn't surprise me, considering the source itself (Almasirah) is a Houthi network. You can use this one, which refers to them as "Houthi supporters". Fitzcarmalan (talk) 17:09, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I have provided him this source but Reuters is better. But I think he will reject it because he claim that he is against "US regime". --Panam2014 (talk) 18:10, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
He claims that Almasirah is reliable and he attempt to keep the info. --Panam2014 (talk) 21:13, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:11, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello:

The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Henry Raup Wagner has been completed. As it stands it is an excellent, well-written article on the subject and I really have no suggestions for improving it.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best of luck with the GAN.
