No, you cannot use swords to battle like in single-player; however, you can use them momentarily when you are close enough to give a quick jab and knock your opponent out. If this information was in the article, it was incorrect. But currently I only see a reference to just "using" katanas, not battling with them. --[[User:Jonfaulkenberry|Jonfaulkenberry]] 06:14, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Famitsu score

I have seen websites quoting a score of 34/40 (8-9-9-8) for Red Steel by Famitsu, which is a shockingly good score for a FPS game. I can't confirm though but if it is true then someone should insert the scores into "reception". JON

I found out about the score on GAF forums then read it on gamefront.de. I put it up on the article.Mr. Pointy 14:50, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Graphics Section

Is it just me, or does that section seem very fanboyish and opinionated. I'm not questioning the person that wrote it, I actually agree with them, but I think it is slightly biased. What does everyone else think? - bendragonbrown47, 08 April, 13:07.

You haven't even told us what YOU think... what makes it 'fan boyish'?... BDB

Doesn't matter anymore, the section has been altered. bendragonbrown47, 08 April, 19:07

I think the article is quite accurate. Also the hype that this game got was ridiculous. Nintendo Forums went nuts!

According to someone at Ubisoft....?? Who? An intern? Who said this, where, and why should we trust them?

"Ubisoft Paris claim they are rendered in real time, meaning they are of in-game 'whilst playing' action." - Those two are not equivalent. The images can be rendered in real time, yet totally scripted and completely non-interactive

Screenshots

Are we able to put the scanned images on the article, or because they came from another source and might be 'touched up', does that make it a no? Just wondered, because I think they'd be more appropraite than the magazine cover. - bendragonbrown47, 08 April, 19:09

The scans are copyrighted content owned by Game Informer. Moreover, they're lousy pictures in the first place. 68.18.217.46 00:20, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And yet someone added them in :/. I hoped rewording the deal so that it said they were scanned from a magazine would clue someone in, but I suppose not. I'm too lazy to pursue the possible copyvio though. 24.76.102.140 00:35, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And then here we are with some images uploaded. Oh well...make sthe article look purdy. bendragonbrown47, 11 April, 09:24.

IGN has posted new screenshots and a trailer of what appears to be in-game footage. The original pictures of the screens and people playing the system are also available. http://revolution.ign.com/objects/821/821973.html 69.192.19.146 23:16, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are lots of direct-capture screens out now, but I'm not sure about copyright issues for Wikipedia. Probably best that someone (e.g. with component cables) takes their own captures and uploads them once the game is out.

All the "screens" on Wikipedia, of course, are not from the Wii itself (being far higher resolution). -- stewacide 06:35, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Enemy AI

In the gameplay section there are several refernces to enemy AI, how they act and the things they will do. I opt that category of information be put in a seperate section, as the 'Controls and Gameplay' section isn't very well laid out and a bit hard to read. It also has no sense of real order. - bendragonbrown47, 10 April, 13:27

Masters

Like above, I think that all the information about masters (your training, how they should be treated, respect) should be removed form the 'Gameplay and Controls' and put into a different section. - bendragonbrown47, 10 April, 13:28

Game information

I have removed the game information, as the exact wording appears in several places like [1], [2], [3], etc. Don't just copy/paste information from other sources in Wikipedia. If the source is indeed the magazine, it is a copyright violation. To include the information again, reword and cite sources. -- ReyBrujo 17:24, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV

The Nintendo Revolution will change the gaming world in an amzing way. Microsoft and Sony are in are war they cannot win, the graphics war/the power war, thinking that only a powerful system will dominate over the rest. What Nintendo has relized though is that graphics have reached a point that they can only go but so much farther. Just from the in-game screenshots seen of "Red Steel", they look just as realistic as any X-Box 360 game. Nintendo knows that innovation is the key to the success of the next-gen consoles. "Red Steel" is the first Revolution game among many that will revolutionize the gaming industry.

Clear enough? --Nscheibel 15:57, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest it is removed. It is very biased towards Nintendo and is an opinion of the author. 209.158.180.130 17:44, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Done. -- ReyBrujo 04:44, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is biased, but I agree with the quote. 66.82.9.67 21:21, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Citation

I'm not sure how to add sources cited, but all of what is there seems to be based on Game Informer #157, between pages 44 and 54. If anyone will be willing to add the citations, I can tell you what is where in the magazine. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gopherbassist (talkcontribs) .

You could just use normal citation for magazines. --65.96.154.117 11:28, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you could site whatever you can, that'd be great, because there is quite amount that is good information, I just can't tell if it's speculation or fact, such as the lobbing of grenades in the first paragraph of gameplay. BenvolioZF 20:16, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In Offical Nintendo Magazine UK (Issue 4 June 2006) they did confirm that by sparing opponents lives you would be able to freeze time for longer times.

Stub needed?

There's a stub tag down at the bottom of the article: Is there a good reason to keep it? The article seems pretty informative. 70.64.56.114 04:13, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Control schemes

The control scheme mentioned at the top of the article seems to conflict with the new controls at the bottom. Notably, the reload action is listed as being both the D-pad and "shaking the nunchuck". Which is correct, or are both? Could these sections be combined somehow? The Brown Cow 02:34, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Weapons

Has there been any official comments anywhere that the pistol is in fact a Glock 17? I would say it looks far more like a Steyr M, compare http://www.tex-pro.com/STEYR-PISTOL-Series-M-A1-no.jpg and http://wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/article/732/732736/red-steel-20060914092813688.jpg Note the groove in the grip above the hand. - JDM, 23:22 09/15/06

That's definitely a Steyr M, probably should name it A1 not 1A. The shotgun bears similarity to Benelli's line of special purpose shotguns considering the iron sights so I changed that (Remington 870 is not likely). Most of the weapons are very wrong here and I can't say I've seen an FN FAL, L96A1 (labelled AWP here, very shortsighted), G3 or 1911 in videos or screenshots. --Notpencil 00:39, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This all is original research. Without a reliable source, it should not be mentioned in the article. -- ReyBrujo 01:49, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Chainsaw and Railgun?

When did Ubisoft confirm this or who found this out?

I have never heard about this... 65.96.96.174 02:32, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Multiplayer

I added multiplayer rules from the Red Steel Instruction Booklet. However I don't know how to reference on Wiki. If someone could reference the instruction booklet to my edits that would be greatly appreciated. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 198.150.93.3 (talkcontribs) .

The easiest way is to write <ref>Instruction booklet, page 10.</ref> Someone may later make it look nicer. -- ReyBrujo 01:59, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Graphics section mentioning 480p

Is it an assumption that the European Nintendo magazine people played it interlaced? The PAL Wii does/will support progressive, unlike the GameCube. Nova Prime 09:08, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Screenshot resolution

I think we should add some sorf of a disclaimer to the screenshot gallery, since the screenshots are in 1180x545 and 1181x945 resolutions, which Wii cannot do (accoridng to the main Wii article it's a 480p console, which is 720x480 in NTSC or 720x576 for PAL, assuming it can do proper PAL, which main Wii article doesn't say). Poeple might think that they will actually be getting that kind of resolution on a Wii. Keije 14:30, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Swords in multiplayer?

In the multi player section it mentions that katanas are usable in multi player but I haven't seen that available. Is it only available in one map or in a special type of game mode. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4.156.249.241 (talkcontribs) .

Sorry, but that kind of question is better to be asked in a gaming forum. Talk about the article, not the topic, please. Thanks. -- ReyBrujo 04:02, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
