Samata Shiksha Niketan

You beat me to the punch! Their draft got rejected so it seems they just tried to make the page themselves. This user is actually becoming very disruptive they might need to be blocked soon. I have left them a personal message, which they never responded too, and they have repeatedly created pages (6 so far) that are clearly their family members or best friends with one or two lines. If you look at their user page they are likely trying to create blue links for the redlinks. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:52, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Quite a few messages/warnings on the their talk page. Might be worth taking to WP:ANI since they clearly are non-responsive. Meatsgains(talk) 02:10, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I posted on ANI a few hours after I sent you this message since they recreated two new pages that were Speedied. They seem to have stopepd for now. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:35, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I will keep en eye on their edit history. Meatsgains(talk) 03:07, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Arlington (band)

Hello Meatsgains. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Arlington (band), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Being signed to a notable label indicates importance/significance (WP:CCSI#SINGER, WP:CCSI#BAND). Thank you. SoWhy 08:56, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The page was originally a redirect blanked by an IP. Jalen D. Folf (talk) 03:21, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Altoona child sexual abuse scandal

Hi. I saw you patrolled Altoona child sexual abuse scandal. Were you able to tell where it came from? This strikes me something copied from Wikipedia so but I can't find it on Wikipedia leading me to think it is from a deleted article. But that's as far as I got. Best wishes, Barkeep49 (talk) 02:53, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch - I've unreviewed the page. Not sure what to make of the Encyclopedia Britannia link though... let me do some digging and see what I can find. Meatsgains(talk) 03:02, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Meatsgains That site has a CCA tag so in theory reuse is fine. But the broken wikicode there is what leads me to believe it's originally from Wikipedia. And since I couldn't find it on Wikipedia (where again reuse with attribution would obviously be OK) my best hypothesis is that it's from a deleted page. But I was unable to locate an AfD discussion that was maybe about the topic. So my investigation ran into a dead-end at which point I watch listed the page hoping another reviewer would be able to discern more than me or the article's author would answer my querry. Best wishes, Barkeep49 (talk)
@Barkeep49: Take a peak at this, this, and this and let me know what you make of it. Meatsgains(talk) 03:12, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I nominated the page for WP:AfD. Feel free to discuss here. Meatsgains(talk) 03:16, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Meatsgains Good find on the RfD. I only checked AfD. Are you going to SPI? Best wishes, Barkeep49 (talk) 03:21, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Barkeep49: Thank you. Its pretty clear this is the same sock. This was removed from the talk page which linked the account to user TheCreaTorPonic, who was investigated on this SPI. I'm clocking out for the night. Would you mind taking it to SPI? Otherwise I'll try to tomorrow. Meatsgains(talk) 03:29, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Meatsgains I've privately alerted a checkuser who is aware of the previous incident. If they don't take action I'll be happy to file the formal case. Best wishes, Barkeep49 (talk) 03:37, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I removed Juneyao Airlines because WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT point #11, an exact date is needed. Thanks. 97.85.118.142 (talk) 20:13, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the clarification! Meatsgains(talk) 17:12, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Article review: Sabana Grande (Caracas)

Hey. The Wikipedia article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabana_Grande,_Caracas has been vandalised by Jamez42. 100,000 characters have been deleted and several quotes/sources from relevant authors and academicians.

Please, I kindly ask you to review the article.

--QuinteroP (talk) 09:42, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@QuinteroP: Why did you write to 14 editors and didn't ping me? The edit was not vandalism, and you have already opened a peer review of the article. --Jamez42 (talk) 16:20, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

NPR Newsletter No.17

Hello Meatsgains,

News
Discussions of interest
  • Two elements of CSD G6 have been split into their own criteria: R4 for redirects in the "File:" namespace with the same name as a file or redirect at Wikimedia Commons (Discussion), and G14 for disambiguation pages which disambiguate zero pages, or have "(disambiguation)" in the title but disambiguate a single page (Discussion).
  • {{db-blankdraft}} was merged into G13 (Discussion)
  • A discussion recently closed with no consensus on whether to create a subject-specific notability guideline for theatrical plays.
  • There is an ongoing discussion on a proposal to create subject-specific notability guidelines for chemicals and organism taxa.
Reminders
  • NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. The deletion policy and its associated guideline clearly emphasise that not all unsuitable articles must be deleted. Redirects are not contentious. See a classic example of the templates to use. More templates are listed at the R template index. Reviewers who are not aware, do please take this into consideration before PROD, CSD, and especially AfD because not even all admins are aware of such policies, and many NAC do not have a full knowledge of them.
NPP Tools Report
  • Superlinks – allows you to check an article's history, logs, talk page, NPP flowchart (on unpatrolled pages) and more without navigating away from the article itself.
  • copyvio-check – automatically checks the copyvio percentage of new pages in the background and displays this info with a link to the report in the 'info' panel of the Page curation toolbar.
  • The NPP flowchart now has clickable hyperlinks.

Hi Meatsgains, just drawing your attention to the fact that this edit is not pointing to the relevant AfD discussion. Can you please remedy this issue just in case it is needed in the future? Thanks.Tamsier (talk) 10:34, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. I've corrected the mistake. [1] Meatsgains(talk) 15:22, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Hi, Meatgsgains! Thanks for the kind welcome. Means a lot. Looking forward to getting really good at this, with your help. Really love wikipedia! Best. Vibiana St Vibiana (talk) 01:44, 10 April 2019 (UTC) P.S. Is this the proper way to leave you a message?[reply]

@St Vibiana: You're very welcome! Hope you plan to stay. And yes, it is! Meatsgains(talk) 01:46, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Jim Bronner

Hello Meatsgains. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Jim Bronner, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: claims he represented many notable athletes and has been the first to establish a certain kind of contract; also GBooks finds quite a few hits. Take it to WP:AFD instead. Thank you. SoWhy 10:13, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of International Society for Environmental Epidemiology

Hi there Meatsgains! Very excited to find something that wasn't written on Wikipedia so wanted to take a stab at creating something - referenced and all. Thanks for your input! I would love to update the first paragraph to solve the issue you brought up about having it be relevant. As mentioned in my contested deletion, ISEE informs global public policy, and is a very prominent (global) scientific association. As I make changes to the article I would love any input or help!

Article in question: International Society for Environmental Epidemiology

Best,

--aaldere1 (talk) 13:38, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Aaldere1: Although the speedily deletion tag was removed, I'd recommend finding independent reliable sources detailing the society to establish notability. Most of the page's current references are self-published. Hope this helps. Meatsgains(talk) 18:00, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

LPL Financial

Hello Meatsgains ~ can you tell me why you undid the legal, I think it is note worthy information when a large corporation has been in trouble with a securities board especially when that large corporation deals in securities and investments Mitchellhobbs (talk) 23:34, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I just read the WP:UNDUE I don't see where you are coming with the revert under those circumstances ~ Mitchellhobbs (talk) 23:37, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Because a $450,000 fine is not significant. The only source your provided was the actual court document. Please provide additional sources. Meatsgains(talk) 15:30, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot ~~lol ~~ mitch ~ Mitchellhobbs (talk) 18:15, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Mitchellhobbs: Welcome! There's a ton of info out there. The page just needs to be updated. Meatsgains(talk) 18:27, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning Meatsgains Hope you had your coffee,

I sent this draft for review, If you are the reviewer please let me know what I have to do to improve in order to be accepted, also there is a section in Burger King franchises (at the bottom) and GPS Hospitality for ref of why I started this article ~ thanks ~ mitch ~ Mitchellhobbs (talk) 16:38, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I made a handful of corrections to punctuation and grammar and removed content that was either unsourced or had poor sourcing. Meatsgains(talk) 18:17, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bellsbank Warriors

Hi Meatsgains, I just wondered if you are in agreement with the content of the Bellsbank Warriors page. There is reference to Komachi Park however I can't locate it on a map. In Bellsbank there is a Bradon Ave (not Bradan) however there is no indication of a park on this road? There has been no update to their Twitter account since 2018 and that mentions their location as Station Park? All very confusing? Regards, Neils51 (talk) 21:02, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Neils51: Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I was unable to find any reliable sources confirming its existence and have nominated the page for deletion here. Feel free to discuss at the AfD. Meatsgains(talk) 00:20, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

NPR Newsletter No.18

Hello Meatsgains,

WMF at work on NPP Improvements

Niharika Kohli, a product manager for the growth team, announced that work is underway in implementing improvements to New Page Patrol as part of the 2019 Community Wishlist and suggests all who are interested watch the project page on meta. Two requested improvements have already been completed. These are:

  • Allow filtering by no citations in page curation
  • Not having CSD and PRODs automatically marked as reviewed, reflecting current consensus among reviewers and current Twinkle functionality.
Reliable Sources for NPP

Rosguill has been compiling a list of reliable sources across countries and industries that can be used by new page patrollers to help judge whether an article topic is notable or not. At this point further discussion is needed about if and how this list should be used. Please consider joining the discussion about how this potentially valuable resource should be developed and used.

Backlog drive coming soon

Look for information on the an upcoming backlog drive in our next newsletter. If you'd like to help plan this drive, join in the discussion on the New Page Patrol talk page.

I have unreviewed a page you curated

Hi, I'm Elmidae. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, Aniara (film), and have marked it as unpatrolled. If you have any questions, please ask them on my talk page. Thank you.

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Elmidae (talk · contribs) 00:04, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

To explain - while it's very likely that sources for this can be added at short notice, I don't think a completely unsourced article should be marked as reviewed. I won't stand on it if you disagree strongly, however. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 00:06, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Elmidae: I'm not opposed however, the page has since been deleted. Meatsgains(talk) 00:57, 23 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think before that, Kudpung went and draftified it - which arguably is what either of us should have done :p Sorted in any case... Cheers! --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 01:57, 23 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fast Track Racing

Hi there. I had been watching Fast Track Racing because it's author has been doing some iffy stuff lately. What did you see that indicated notability for you? Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 03:51, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I added the uncategorized tag and it automatically marked the page as reviewed. I do not have a strong opinion on the team's notability but do not oppose deleting the page. Meatsgains(talk) 23:49, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

speedy deletion questons

Hi Meatsgains, I got your note for Afforestt and I still think this is a enterprise that deserves to be part of wikipedia. I tried making the page as best as possible (clearly needs some more edits) but I don't think it is worth deleting. Can you please give me some pointers on how to make it better so it doesn't get flagged? Thanks Magenta2018

Looks like the page was deleted. I don't recall reviewing the page. What I would recommend is creating a draft in your WP:SANDBOX before uploading to the mainspace to avoid premature deletion. Meatsgains(talk) 23:55, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Meatsgains, I need your help ~ I tried to do ~ what I thought was the right thing ~ and I got what I think was a pretty self serving answer ~ so I left an edit on here ~ I think the source is pretty reliable ~ what do you think ~ believe me ~! I respect you more than some slob from England ~ regards Mitchellhobbs (talk) 17:05, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Since the discussion on the reliability of wallmine has been archived on the WP:RSN, I'll respond here. The webpage appears to be reliable in the sense that it is an aggregate of different reliable sources republished. As for the the blog it lists, not reliable. I'm not opposed to using it as a source for uncontroversial information. Meatsgains(talk) 00:47, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Review newsletter July-August 2019

Hello Meatsgains,

WMF at work on NPP Improvements

More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.

QUALITY of REVIEWING

Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.

Backlog

The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.

Move to draft

NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.

Notifying users

Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.

PERM

Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.

Other news

School and academic holidays will begin soon in various places around the Western world. Be on the lookout for the usual increase in hoax, attack, and other junk pages.

Our next newsletter might be announcing details of a possible election for co-ordinators of NPR. If you think you have what it takes to micro manage NPR, take a look at New Page Review Coordinators - it's a job that requires a lot of time and dedication.
