Mohanxn The place to discuss the deletion of your page (now twice) is on your talk page I think. Please do not use the {{help me}} template on anyone else's talk page. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 07:07, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Appreciate the procedural notes. Glad I'm not the only one seeing this. Buffs (talk) 20:25, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Y U NO ADMIN?

You have many fine qualities including patience and a capacity for civil disagreement. I would like to nominate you, if you feel so inclined. Guy (help!) 17:22, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Guy, you're very kind to offer, but I think it would be a couple days of me getting ripped apart and then I'd cry uncle and withdraw. As entertaining as that might be :-) Levivich 17:52, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Levivich, not so sure, but you're right it can be brutal. Guy (help!) 19:50, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Many Wikipedians would pay to see Levivich dismembered in gladiatorial combat... But in all seriousness, you could probably make it to admin with a bit more work. You already have wide name recognition, and are engaged in many areas of the project. You have two GAs. Plus a nom by Guy would go a long way. At this particular moment a few things work against you, but those could be fixed. If you got an FA, and fixed your mainspace/wikispace edit ratio, you'd be in good territory. You'd just need a strong nom (i.e. Guy and some other members of the regular squad) to help combat the anti-Fun factions the same faction that would pay to see EEng in that gladiatorial ring too... Seriously, consider it. Smooth sailing, CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 20:05, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And then get a co-nom by EEng to guarantee that you'll never pass. creffpublic a creffett franchise (talk to the boss) 13:41, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wasn't it "even though I'm an admin, I'm just commenting here as an everyday average editor" with a pic of Galobtter, swiftly followed by "hands down the worst block I've ever seen and I've seen some whoppers" Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:21, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You refer to [1]. The image represented Drmies, actually. EEng 19:06, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes, the infamous "10,000lb gorilla in the room" joke that came across as calling another editor an ape. Learning about that incident has taught me to studiously avoid any and all jokes that involve comparing editors to animals. That way, I don't end up looking like a jackass like EEng. Levivich 19:13, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
See also WP:UNEVOLVED. On a related note, I’m proud to say the if you google “diffusing conflict” our little essay is about the third or fourth result. EEng 19:30, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We're changing the world, man, one page at a time. Levivich 19:38, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if "per Bbb23" would be mentioned :D ——SN54129 13:47, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
In about 20-25 oppose !votes I figure. Might be the first RfA where Bbb sock strikes the nom acceptance ;) Levivich 16:01, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
On a serious note, yes, it would be bound to come up. Memories here are long for weaknesses, and those that didn't see his original comment may have seen the ill-fated arb case request. But, if you have sound reasons as to why Bbb23—and concomittantly, all those who have reminded you of it since (*has the grace to blush*)—have been very much mistaken in their belief, then in the short term you would immediately win over possible waverers. In the long term, you do realise don't you, that should an RfA where the issue is raised, pass, then those who occasionally point it out would literally never be able to mention it again. An RfA is a tangible demonstration of the community's trust, and, FYI, accusing those proven to possess such trust would henceforth become a WP:PA. The slate would have been not so much swept clean as, Doc Brown might say, erased from history. Think on. ——SN54129 17:33, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
God damn, SN, I hadn't thought of the "clean slate" aspect and I'm finding that argument pretty attractive. Levivich 18:29, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Run, damn it!! Not away - to ward!!!! Atsme Talk 📧 00:48, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the others here. I think the admin corp needs someone like you within its ranks. Sir Joseph (talk) 01:38, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks all for the encouragement, it's really brightening my day. Based on RFAs and various admin's talk pages I've read, it seems the best part of the entire admin experience is having editors tell you that you should run for RFA, and then it's all steady downhill after that. – Levivich 05:05, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Levivich, the WMF-funded champagne receptions afterwards are pretty nice - didn't you get your invite to mine? We all wondered where you were... GirthSummit (blether) 16:07, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well, funnest thing, the large gentleman at the door said I wasn't on the guest list. Must have been a clerical error. I saw you inside and tried to get your attention but, pity, you didn't hear me, though I could have sworn we made eye contact two or three times, but it's no big deal, I'm fine. Levivich 19:46, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I refer the peanut gallery to the ha ha only serious proposal to nom Levivich on 1 April (echoing this) with a "burma shave" statement..... Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:19, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Levivich, one fine February day,
Thought he'd submit a quick RFA,
Both the noms, they wrote well,
so he thought "What the hell?"

administrative privileges

Regarding this comment: if I actually were able to commit more dedicated time to do in-depth work on Wikipedia, the kind of tasks I'm interested in don't require administrative privileges. (On a trivial note, I'm pretty sure the only criterion I currently pass is "doesn't seem likely to delete the main page".) isaacl (talk) 01:48, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That’s the only criterion that matters. :) But I’m pretty sure you’d be one of those "thought they already were one" candidates. Levivich 16:02, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Not as my contributions currently stand... I'm basically an unretained editor when it comes to content work, for reasons I've documented at the editor retention project, and I've not done any of the work that commenters use to determine if a candidate understands policy and is trustworthy. But it's a moot point, anyway. isaacl (talk) 17:19, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A question about no particular edit

Can one of my talk page watchers kindly clue me in: why do people write (ec) to denote an edit conflict? What is the purpose of telling everyone you had an edit conflict? And why "ECx3"? Why does the number of edit conflicts matter? – Levivich 07:46, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Levivich, we talk page watchers know exactly what you did, so confess now and you'll be spared...wait...never mind, that wasn't what you asked. Pretty sure that people use it as a heads up to other editors that either a) because they conflicted, they might be duplicating what someone else said, or b) if someone else's comment disappeared it probably got stomped by accident in the edit conflict. creffpublic a creffett franchise (talk to the boss) 14:08, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Signature

Hello! I saw someone grumbled about your signature a bit, but didn't really explain why, so thought I'd explain (at least why it's a little bit for me). It's not a big deal in my opinion, so don't feel like you have to change it or anything; I just thought you might want to know why people mentioned that. (Hadn't said anything before since I don't really care much, and assume others don't either or you'd have heard about it sooner.) Namely, when your signature is at the bottom of a comment, it creates a separate scrolling frame for that comment, so if I click on the comment, then press the arrow keys to scroll the page, or put the mouse over it and scroll using the mouse wheel, it will scroll your comment within its box, rather than the entire page. Thus:

Again, this is not a big deal, in my opinion, just thought you might want to know. :) Hope this helps!

Goldenshimmer, thanks for telling me about this, that's actually really annoying and I had no idea until now. I will look into fixing it. Levivich 23:22, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, it seems to just happen with Firefox on the mobile site or with the Minerva desktop beta, so it would have a relatively small impact, and I'm just one of the (un)lucky few :) —{{u|Goldenshimmer}} (they/them)|TalkContributions 23:34, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Goldenshimmer, looks like it happens with any browser on Minerva, desktop or mobile, for posts that are indented. Moving the text below the baseline seems to be what breaks it. I think this affected anyone using the Minerva skin. I'll have to figure out a workaround. Thanks again for letting me know! Levivich 00:12, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Goldenshimmer and Levivich, does something like that happen with my up-pointing sig? darwinbish 11:21, 20 February 2020 (UTC).[reply]
Darwinbish No, at least not according to my tests. The problem only occurs when angling downward below the text baseline, it doesn’t occur when angling upwards. (Maybe Gold can confirm.) Thus, the circle of life is complete. Darwinbish’s signature, having evolved a superior tail (and, I’ve heard, possibly superior feet), can live on, while her less-evolved downward-angled ancestor dies out. Lulz in signature

Hi, just wanted to let you know that signing with Lulz might be counterproductive and even inflammatory at many places which you frequent. Not that I have a problem with it, but thought that you should know. regards --DBigXray 09:46, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Levivich, on MRM AfD, I do understand your point on merger discussion on talk page. Will do so as you suggested. and no I have no intentions to turn myself blue :D. thanks. --DBigXray 17:08, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

thanks so much for your nice note on my talk page! it really meant a lot to me. I really needed that, right now. I really appreciate your positive vibes. Please feel free to be in touch any time. It is really nice to hear from you. thanks!!! --Sm8900 (talk) 14:23, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
