At the beginning of this assignment, I actually have no idea about what I am doing, and result of causing series low-quality editing for the first few assignments. But in the middle of the entire project timeline, I learned that instead of fixing few grammarly issue in the content, adding more words and high-quality reference would provide better insights for the topics, so I started to find articles that were related to my research proposal, and with so many high-quality, and peer-viewed sources. I had added plenty of knowledge to support wiki articles' knowledge. The experience for having this activities is great, I found now I am an adult, I have to be responsible for every word i typed and speak. I can't just copy paste other ones' and make it my own. This is what I learned overall from this activity. I would prefer to continue the work of providing some editiations on wiki, since I love the way to contribute and fix others' work. Probably I will not act like did this activity in the class, like contribute two articles per week, because of too much work loads i have at this moment. However, if i got a chance, I would continue to do such work since I like the feeling of editing, especially on wiki. I am been U.S for almost nine years, I was heavily rely on wiki, and I thought it was so powerful, even though that I never understand why all my teachers were saying "don't copy from wiki", but I learned from this project. It because we are the one to edit those articles, and make it non-professional at all, and it is not the best source for professional knowledge.--[[User:八路军被服厂李厂长|八路军被服厂李厂长]] ([[User talk:八路军被服厂李厂长|talk]]) 13:13, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

== Week 11 / Reflective essay / LBJJames ==

In this Wikipedia extra credit assignment, i made a lot mistakes initially and fix the mistakes after instructor's mention. However, the whole experience make me feel good. I learned that i could edit the content and resources in the wikipedia which I didn't know it before. And i learned how can i add source to it, sandbox, assigned articles and so on. Through the Wikipedia extra credit assignment, I learned a lot knowledges because i have to fix the content and add citation to the incomplete articles. I mean this is a really great thing which could increase my knowledge. I love this assignment because this is '''extra credit''' assignment. However, though the experience, i'd like to continue editing on wikipedia. i feel great when i fix the problems in the articles and Supplementary content in the article.

Week 10/Add citations or insert an image/Forza spurs

For this week's assignmemt, I add a citation to an article and insert an image to an another one. First, I insert an image to the article introducing Milan Derby, which is a vintage derby match between AC Milan and Inter Milan. Here is the link to the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derby_della_Madonnina. I insert an image to better display the atmosphere of Milan Derby in the past decades.I used CC search and followed the steps described in the training. The following is link to the diff: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Derby_della_Madonnina&diff=988131873&oldid=987717293. Second, I add a citation and several sentences to the article introducing Danny Green, who is a NBA player. Here is the link to the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Green_(basketball). The sentences and the citation I added include his average statistics in 2014-2015 season, which witnessed his peak condition. The following is the link to the diff: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Danny_Green_(basketball)&diff=988134654&oldid=987303986. In this process, I have learned that when inserting an image to an article, copyright is a vey critical factor to be considered and different types of copyrights have different meanings that indicate how we can use them.Forza spurs (talk) 09:00, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that the changes I made to the article introducing Danny Green have been reverted by Wiki, so I assigned me another article introducing Marco Belinelli, who is an Italian basketball player. Here is the linke to the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marco_Belinelli. I added two sentences and a citation to offer more dtails related to Belinelli's Three-Point Contesst Champion in 2014, which I think is an important achievement in his career. Here is the link to the diff: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Marco_Belinelli&diff=988938863&oldid=974562629.Forza spurs (talk) 03:29, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Week 10 / Add citations or insert an image / 燕京赵大知识分子

This week I inserted an image of the American style double door fridge in my apartment when I was moving a few months ago. I shot this picture myself. I think inserting images to an article can have a better visualization which makes the texts less tedious. This is the link for the article and this is the difference link: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Refrigerator&type=revision&diff=988274041&oldid=988219835燕京赵大知识分子 (talk) 05:11, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately my edit was reverted by the author. This image is definitely my own work, but after the revert I couldn't insert any images becasue the automatic filter kept showing warnings even though I followed the rules for uploading an image. :) Not sure what was going on though. Instead I added two citations to an article of applied economics and music of China. Here are the diff links: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Applied_economics&type=revision&diff=988449916&oldid=977997639, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Music_of_China&type=revision&diff=988450819&oldid=987549813. 燕京赵大知识分子 (talk) 07:44, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

燕京赵大知识分子, I think your image was fine, but I think you handled this well. Nice updates. Current. FULBERT (talk) 22:50, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In this week, I chose two articles to add citation, both of this two articles is about cat. The first one is Ragdoll, the second one is British shorthair, those two type cats is very famous. From this week's practice, I learned to it is important that read more articles when you trying to finding the citation, because high quality link will help people to know the article better. In addition, when I add the citation, it also helped me to know more information about Ragdoll and British shorthair, and it is very enjoyable to know their history. here is the first link of diff, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ragdoll&diff=prev&oldid=988661643 The second link of diff, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=British_Shorthair&diff=prev&oldid=988665603 Shangyingsun (talk) 15:06, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Week 10 / Add Citations to 2 Articles or insert an image / JS11323

This week, I learned how to insert an image to an article, and I tried to upload a image which I took by myself. This image is a glass bowl of Tiramisu with mints made by myself. Here is the link of article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiramisu. And here is the link of difference between revisions: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Tiramisu&type=revision&diff=988703225&oldid=984666271. After doing this assignment, I knew what kind of images I can choose to insert in Wiki, and where I can find images to insert in Wiki, it is very helpful.--Js11323 (talk) 19:42, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Js11323, As nice as that looked, I agree with the other editor that it did not add to what was there already. However, fine overall. Current. FULBERT (talk) 23:06, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Week 10/ Add Citations to 2 Articles or insert an image/ 八路军被服厂李厂长

The first article is about financial inclusion where I support the statement "Fintech assist to expand the process of having financial inclusion". I added two document names those are officially authorized to support the statement. here is the link to the difference: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Financial_inclusion&type=revision&diff=988700137&oldid=978765431 The second article is about financial risks, where I found as one of the four biggest risk in finance, the operational risk only have an abbreviated definition. I understand this article is sort of preview on risks and with tons of links to other specific articles. I believe adding one more sentence would be more comprehensive understanding of the topic. here is the link to the difference:https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Financial_risk&type=revision&diff=988706358&oldid=987271914

In this week, at the beginning, I was preferred to adding one image to the article. After I read the course, I found that is somehow to difficult for me, since it requires the integrity of the images. Since I wasn't professional about it, I would rather do the two more citations :)--八路军被服厂李厂长 (talk) 20:06, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The first article I edited is about an Indian Politician: K. Annamalai, The link to the diff is: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=K._Annamalai&diff=988721236&oldid=985221933; The second article I edited is Indian Angel Network, an organization focus on angel investment in Indian. The link to diff is: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Indian_Angel_Network&diff=988723358&oldid=978824045. This week, I put my focus on different country. Week 10 / Add Citations to 2 Articles or insert an image / Ywrhea

1. This week I add two articles. The first article is about the corporate spin-off, which introduce one of choices in terms of the corporate divestment. However, it does not illustrate the reasons that enterprises choose to use it clearly. Since there might be many different motivations result in this choices, I added two more reasons that may lead to the decision of spin-off. I hope I can help the readers to have clearer view of spin-off by providing more information to it. The second article is about stereotype. I provide more explanations and usage scenarios, people could understand how to use this word, which makes its definition more accurate.

2. The link of first article’s difference is https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/988807659 The link to the second article’s difference is https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/988807995

3. After this week’s practice, I find I learn lots of new knowledge. Because I need to read other journals or websites to get more information of the topics before I edit it. Each time I finish my editing, I feel more familiar with the specific topics I edit, which is a great gain. Ywrhea (talk) 10:57, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This week I read two Wikipedia articles which are about bubble tea and Starbucks. I want to see the market expended and sales through COVID-19 for both. I found there didn't have any statistics showed the market size or sales for bubble tea through Wikipedia article so I added a description and a external website article as citation. For the article of Starbucks,I added the situation of Starbucks in 2020 to the sales and expansion paragraph in Wikipedia article. Link to the diff: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Longsheng_Rice_Terraces&type=revision&diff=988892035&oldid=988491843 In this article, I inserted an image shot by myself during a trip to Longsheng Terraces, China. The article already had several beautiful pictures of the terrace field built along the slope of the mountain. My image shows how the village in the middle of terraces looks like, providing a view from a different angle. Because most pictures online are copyrighted, I thought the best way is to have my own picture inserted as a source. Martinmadison (talk) 21:48, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This week I edited two more articles. One is on gacha game, the difference link is here. The other article is co-branding, the difference link is here. I found that not many contents have a valid peer-reviewed article as a reference, but there's still a lot of research related information in the databases that could be used to support claims on Wikipedia pages. This week I also added two citations to two more articles. One is one-way interview, the difference link is here. The other article is hunger marketing, the difference link is here. I learned that the common naming of an item or circumstance we perceive in daily life can naturally occur to us, the naming of it on Wikipedia could be another story. When I searched for "video interview" there was no such article. But then I found out that such content is actually included in the article called "one-way interivew", which more broadly summarizes video interview it self. --Bbbzhu (talk) 22:25, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This week I added a new image to the hot pot page. The image I added was the copper hot pot, here's the difference link. The page does not already have a similar image and I thought would add to the body of knowledge as the copper hot pot is very popular in northern China. This week I learned that even if I find an image on a free image site it does not guarantee my usage of the image, as the image might not have a proper lisence for me to cite it in Wikipedia. When using an image from an online source, I need to be especially careful. --Bbbzhu (talk) 02:23, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Why I chose this topic because this is one of my potential and interesting area of my paper. So I want to know something more about this in Wikipedia. What I add in this article just helps better statements in the Manipulation portion. Here is the difference link: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Neuromarketing&type=revision&diff=989125263&oldid=986686887 And I found some more similar and related articles about manipulation, and I chose "Internet manipulation". What I add in this article just helps to give more reliable resources or evidence to make better statements. Week 11/Reflective essay/Forza spurs

In the process of finishing Wikipedia exercises in the past weeks, I believe that I have learned a lot. The most important thing I think I have realized is that I can really make my own contributions to some certain knowledge areas and share my contributions or knowledge in an open way with othes who are highly likely to have similar interests with me. In the past, I have been used to being just a knowledge receiver. Besides, I have learned how to do critical reading, finding reliable sources of information and adding knowledge from a neutral point of view, all of which will benefit my study of other courses or future development. In addition, most of my contributions are adding citations and sentences to the articles introducing some sports figures. Although maybe some of them are not very famous, I do notice that some parts of thier Wiki pages should be improved. For one aticle I assigned myself, I received feedback from the Wiki editor that reminded me what I have added were unrelevant. After checking what I have changed in that article, I found that my words were unnecessary to some extent and this process truly helped me to do reading more carefully, with more attentio to the contexts. The experience with Wikipedia is very interesting and inspiring as I can see my knowledg is shared with people from all around the world. Moreover, when I am reading aticles about fields I am interested in and trying to add some knowledge, it is a process of broadening my own knowledge areas as well. Last but not least, I think I will continue editing on Wikipedia because it offers me precious opportunities to communicate with others from different backgrounds and it's a great way of both receiving and sharing knowledge.Forza spurs (talk) 03:21, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

week 6/Add a Citation and Contribute to One More Article/ Amandaerfeng

Hi, this is Amanda. Just trying to catch up with all the wiki works that I left behind. Hope it's not too late. I chose price skimming for week 6 since I am taking a marketing class. It can help me to learn more about the course. I have a deeper understanding of the term. Also, I find this article needs more citiation, it's too bad I can't work on the same article again.https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Price_skimming&diff=prev&oldid=989380904 Amandaerfeng (talk) 17:40, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

week 7/Contribute to One More Article/Amandaerfeng

The article I choose is still marketing related, it is promotion mix. I am glad that I am doing extra credit and learning for my other course at the same time. Week 11/Reflective essay/Muzizimu

After all the trainings and practices I did with Wikipedia website, I feel like Wikipedia can be a more reliable website for me to look at than before. I read lots of articles during this past 10 weeks that I am interested in or wanted to know more about. I learned to talk in public with evidence, every word I typed should have a reliable database to back up my words which is very important for us when we are publishing thoughts in public, this will not confuse or mislead the readers who are viewing our articles. I am sure that there are some ram marly or content mistake in these articles, we should always be careful and kindly to edit the article if you found the mistake even though sometimes you may get reverted by someone but it's okay, It's a learning process for us. I also learned to be careful and patient when looking though database, this will help us to find the exact content we need for us. I would like to continue editing Wikipedia when I have time, this can force me to look through more articles to practice my reading skills and I can also edit articles that I am interested in to make everyone see my findings and opinions.Muzizimu (talk) 13:48, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Week 8/ Add Citations to 2 Articles/ Ywrhea

Since my original one was archived and I’m unable to edit, I just created a new post. The link to the original one is https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:FULBERT&oldid=987116694#Week_8/_Add_Citations_to_2_Articles/_Ywrhea I edit the link, and hope you are able to read it now.

1. I add different citations to the two articles. The first one analyzes the determinants of divestiture at specific industry and company level, the financial and organizational impact of divestiture, and then summarizes the integration of decentralized divestiture knowledge. The second one mainly discusses the long-term performance of divestiture and equity divestiture, and finds that the choice of divestiture method has an important impact on the long-term performance after divestiture.

2. Link to differences are (1) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/986556414 (2) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/986558092

3. I am surprised to find that even for academic topics, sometimes the completion of corresponding articles on Wikipedia is relatively poor. There are no corresponding references for many concepts and explanations. In addition, the arrangement of article structure is not reasonable. Therefore, we need to improve them with more literatures we have read. Ywrhea (talk) 16:13, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

week 9/ Add Citations to 2 More Articles/Amandaerfeng

Week 11 / Final thoughts / dyy122dyy

1. This is the first time I have such experiences in Wikipedia. It is apparently not easy to start from the beginning, because there are various requirements even in the title of our replies to professor’s “talk page” (we need to put a space between each dash). We also need to assign the article to us and sign our signature. Each step is necessary and cannot be forgotten. After gradually getting used to the basic requirements, I start to focus on the content of the weekly work. Every week, I chose a topic that I’m interested in to read through and then I went to NYU library to find relative articles. If I found one article interesting, I read the article and cited to the Wiki. In the first several weeks, most of my citations were reverted and I need to redo the work again and again. However, finally after many practicing, I found some of my works were being saved for online users to read. The result that I can leave something in Wiki encouraged my passion to work hard and become more sensitive to the unclear text. I’m also satisfied with that I might be useful for people who desire detailed information about one topic. 2. The first thing I learned through the Wiki project is knowledge. I read lots of articles in different fields and the experiences provided me with abundant knowledge. In the meantime, I find that the work in Wiki are free for all users, which means that people are not get paid even if they devote much efforts in Wikipedia. People who contribute to the Wikipedia are those who contribute to the improvement of the society. Even many people made typo mistakes or unclear contents, every individual who use Wikipedia should appreciate their contributions. I find that there are millions of people around the world who devote themselves to Wikipedia to provide convenience to online users and we even do not know their names, only their username on Wiki. Such result encourages me to do more for the construction of Wikipedia and be respectful for those Wiki-constructors. 3. I’m currently in China now. In order to login to Wiki, I need to prepare VPN which is a complicated process. However, if I have spare time, I would like to devote my efforts in Wikipedia and continued to make contributions, even if limited, to Wikipedia. Week 11/ Reflective essays/ Ywrhea

I have acquired much knowledge from Wikipedia extra credit assignment. Before I start to do the Wikipedia extra credit assignment, I consider Wikipedia as a free encyclopedia that anyone is able to edit. I think everyone can get a basic background and a brief description of any information he or she seeks on Wikipedia. When I seek some articles on Wikipedia, I find some articles have exhaustive details that provide sufficient information, while others may just include a very brief introduction. But I don't know how to distinguish whether the article is reliable or not at that time.

At the beginning of doing extra credit assignments, I found it was a little bit hard because there are many steps and instructions I need to follow. However, after asking the professor and reading the instructions carefully, I gradually begin to enjoy this editing the articles and use my knowledge to help others.

After I finish these Wikipedia extra credit assignments, I change my views on Wikipedia. I think Wikipedia is a collaborative forum. But many people do not edit it correctly, because they do not add content with reliable references. Also, I can easily know the article quality after reading many different Wikipedia articles. Through the process of doing extra credit assignments, I always need to read other articles or journals so that I can improve the Wikipedia articles and make the article more objective and professional. Besides, I can discover many interesting topics I did not pay attention to in the past. This is the learning process I acquire other new knowledge.

I think I will continue to editing on Wikipedia because I can update and modify some articles that I am familiar with, which might be helpful to other readers. Ywrhea (talk) 14:46, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Week 11/Reflective essay/Soymilkp20

This is the first time that i using Wiki as an editor. As the time going, i learnt a lot during this process. Wikipedia as a free encyclopedia that anyone can edit. Anyone can create a Wikipedia user account and write an article, on any topic whatsoever. At the beginning, I only thought of this assignment as a way to improve my grade. Editing was not going well, articles that i added a citation were reverted. I had to redo it. Wiki has strict regulations. i didn't understand it before. After several times of editing, I think Wiki is trying to illustrate its own belief in bringing knowledge for people. As an editor, i am honor to be part of this process. people who edit the articles on Wiki should be responsible for it, that is the reason why Wiki is "picky". Social media has already brought to much of our attention. We gain huge of information for it, but sometime it could also blind you. Wikipedia on the other hand, edit with solid articles. People work on it everyday making sure the information on it is accurate. I also learn a lot during the time I am trying to find an article to edit. Some article are too academic that it reach my limit of editing. But i think that is the beauty of it. I know some articles in Wiki are kind of casual, those introductions of celebrities. People do pay attention to it. But I am glad to know that serious academic knowledge is also needed from people. I will continue working as i can, trying to share my knowledge to other people. Week11/ Reflective Essay/ Mavin2516

It was a great experience taking the Wikipedia Research and Methodology course as it provided a unique learning platform. I learnt about how to evaluate and assess the quality of an article based on a several evaluation criteria. Identifying articles with information gaps was also a major milestone that I achieved during the course. At the introductory phase I have to admit it was a little challenging navigating the site while taking the assignments but generally it was a great experience fumbling through the process and eventually arriving at the right destination. For example, I found it challenging adding citation to the articles but finally I managed to pull off the task. Some of my edits were reverted, this was so disappointing but it taught me to ensure that the references I was inserting were reliable before using them. Generally I learnt a lot and i intend to continue editing Wikipedia articles.Mavin2516 (talk) 20:39, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Week 11/ Reflective / yl7283

It is obviously that I learned a lot through the exercise during these several weeks. The Wikipedia dashboard is also a good platform that provide chance we can share ideas and make contribution in papers by editing. It is also the first time I learn to edit the website articles and practice to find useful citation to make contribution in articles. I think the exercises through Wikipedia dashboard is also a good experience for me to share ideas and learn to have a good research. The first time I tried to edit something on a Wikipedia article,I was less confident and afraid to make trouble. I tried to find more resource to support my contributions and really get more information through the process. After few weeks practice,I seems to be more confident to make contributions to Wikipedia articles and focus more on content and topic. I used to selected two related topic and during the exercise to make contributions on articles,I also have the research of two topics. There also have one of my contributions were reverted and I also learn about which kind of contributions can be a useful one. Beside the learning models on Wikipedia dashboard,I also have practice of finding useful information through research. I think I will continue to make edit when I find interesting topic that I want to have research for. ~~~~ Yhl7283 (talk) 04:49, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Week11 / Reflective Essay / ASCXX

It is a fun editing experience of this Wiki project, and it is a totally different experience of editing a Wikipedia compared to using it. I can never imagine myself editing a Wikipedia article before this exercise, but I feel much more confident now when editing an article. I have also learned the importance of using an academic source. I always come to Wikipedia if I search for something new, even though all of my professors said not to use Wikipedia for any academic purpose. I did not understand why I cannot use it since Wikipedia helped me a lot to comprehend new terms. Now, I realized the reason not to use it for academic purposes is a lot of Wikipedia articles are in a disorganized manner. However, I think I will keep editing Wikipedia articles even after this class. First and foremost, it is so valuable to make a contribution to Wikipedia. We have 125 edited articles by only 15 student editors, but we have reached 4.91 million views so far! Second, I personally have learned a lot throughout this process. Every editing I made has an academic journal to support, and I learned how to find the information I needed by only looking at abstract and discussion. Third, if everybody keeps editing Wikipedia and uses reliable academic sources, maybe one day students will be able to use Wikipedia for academic purposes. This would be so meaningful for me since I was not allowed to use any article from Wikipedia. In conclusion, I really enjoyed this extra credit exercise, and I think this exercise can also help us to get familiar with the research process. It is also a great exercise to conduct literature reviews. FULBERT --ASCXX (talk) 06:19, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Week 9/ Add Citations to 2 More Articles/Rc4230

For this week, I chose two articles to add citations. The first one is about k-means clustering analysis. Week 10 / Insert an image / Rc4230

Week11 / Reflective Essay / Rc4230

I learned a lot during the process of doing extra credit assignments. I learned how to evaluate an essay. A good essay needs a clear structure, balanced content, a neutral tone, and reliable resources. The process of evaluating an article has improved my writing skills. In fact, it was a little difficult for me to add citations to an article at first because I had to identify parts of the article that needed additional explanation or were not covered in the original text, and added content based on the literature. But as I got better at it, I was able to complete the assignment more quickly.

In addition, at first, I thought that Wikipedia articles were written by professionals, but in fact, ordinary people like me can also participate in writing articles with some initial training. The articles in Wikipedia are the result of a collaborative effort. I will continue to edit the articles that interest me and share my knowledge with everyone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rc4230 (talkcontribs) 13:05, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Week 11/Reflective essay/八路军被服厂李厂长

It because we are the one to edit those articles, and make it non-professional at all, and it is not the best source for professional knowledge.--八路军被服厂李厂长 (talk) 13:13, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Week 11 / Reflective essay / LBJJames

In this Wikipedia extra credit assignment, i made a lot mistakes initially and fix the mistakes after instructor's mention. However, the whole experience make me feel good. I learned that i could edit the content and resources in the wikipedia which I didn't know it before. And i learned how can i add source to it, sandbox, assigned articles and so on. Through the Wikipedia extra credit assignment, I learned a lot knowledges because i have to fix the content and add citation to the incomplete articles. I mean this is a really great thing which could increase my knowledge. I love this assignment because this is extra credit assignment. However, though the experience, i'd like to continue editing on wikipedia. i feel great when i fix the problems in the articles and Supplementary content in the article. --LBJJames (talk) 15:04, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
