Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger (機界戦隊ゼンカイジャー, Kikai Sentai Zenkaijā) is an upcoming Japanese tokusatsu television drama which is the 45th entry in Toei's long-running Super Sentai series and the third produced in the Reiwa era, also paying tribute to the 45th anniversary of the franchise.

It will replace Mashin Sentai Kiramager, joining Kamen Rider Saber in the Super Hero Time line-up on TV Asahi on March 7, 2021. The show's name comes from the titular team's catchphrase, "Zenryoku Zenkai" (全力全開, lit. "full throttle").[1][2]

Plot

When an all powerful enemy appears to destroy all parallel worlds, a hero with the spirit of all Super Sentai will rise to fight back. Transforming into ZenKaiser, he joins forces with four robots with the spirit of the Super Sentai mechas across history.[1][2]

Characters

The Zenkaigers consist of a lone human who leads his team of four Machine Life Forms (機械生命体, Kikai Seimei-tai) themed after past Sentai mechas. The Machine Life Forms are capable of changing sizes; using human-size as their default option and growing large against gigantic opponents. The team members utilize a multipurpose Geartlinger (ギアトリンガー, Giatoringā) device for either transformation or combat in both normal and giant sizes. It can also harness the power of past Sentai heroes by scanning the Sentai Gears (センタイギア, Sentai Gia).[1][2]

Production

The trademark for the series was filed by Toei Company on September 8, 2020.[3]

Film

Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger the Movie (機界戦隊ゼンカイジャー THE MOVIE, Kikai Sentai Zenkaijā Za Mūbī) is a film which will act as a prelude to the series and scheduled for release in Japanese theaters on February 20, 2021 as part of Super Sentai Movie Ranger 2021 (スーパー戦隊MOVIEレンジャー2021, Sūpā Sentai Mūbī Renjā Nisen-nijū-ichi), along Mashin Sentai Kiramager the Movie and Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger the Movie.[1]
