Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Colby cheese you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Hi, DanCherek:

On December 29, 2021, I contributed the following article and all its pictures to Wikipedia. AR_Computer_To_Terminate_Eyestrain_And_Myopia

https://eyewiki.org/AR_Computer_To_Terminate_Eyestrain_And_Myopia

Could you please tell me what should I do so that the reviewers knowing that I am the copyright owner instead of using other people's works, so as not to be mistakenly identified as infringing others' copyrights and be deleted?

Best regards and Happy New Year

Crescentnz (Ching Lai) Crescentnz (talk) 04:16, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Crescentnz: I see that you asked Diannaa the same question a few days ago, so I will just refer you to her detailed answer here: User talk:Diannaa#I am the original contributor. If you send a permission email to the Volunteer Response Team, please do not re-add the text to Wikipedia in the meantime until they provide verification that the appropriate documentation is in place. Happy New Year! DanCherek (talk) 04:26, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much! Crescentnz (talk) 05:42, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please tell me what is the email address of the Volunteer Response Team?

Regards,

Crescentnz Crescentnz (talk) 18:02, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's listed at WP:DONATETEXT along with the information you should include in your email. DanCherek (talk) 18:12, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Amrutha Latha

Hello DanCherek! Thank you for your advice on Draft:Amrutha Latha -- as this is still a draft, I'm still working on the infobox and using this text from 'Hugh Owen Thomas' to see how everything fits together, at the moment. The actual content is not in the article yet, and that is just placeholder text. Thank you for the reminder, though! (I hope I've used this talk page correctly. I apologise for any mistakes!) Ephemeral Candybar (talk) 15:06, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Just make sure to provide attribution in the edit summary when you copy text from other articles, even if you're just experimenting in draftspace. Thanks! DanCherek (talk) 15:13, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I certainly will! Thanks and happy new year! Ephemeral Candybar (talk) 17:28, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Mittersill castle

Mittersill Castle was a redirect to Mittersill, which I could not delete, so the only way I could fix the case of Mittersill castle was to copy the text across was to write over it and leave a redirect, so the overall effect was a move. Vicarage (talk) 18:01, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have listed it at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests which is the correct place to request a move when you can't do it technically. DanCherek (talk) 18:45, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The main problem with these edits, which I reverted and a new IP reinstated sans most of the sources, is that the sources are media sources and they don't all mention the Tamil, and Tamil itself doesn't make these claims about prehistory. Doug Weller talk 17:09, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Doug Weller: Thanks! That's fine, I have no objections to your reverts. Without looking too closely at the content itself, I was mostly concerned with fixing the IP's unattributed copying. DanCherek (talk) 17:12, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Good catch there. I've taken it to WP:FTN as this attempt to add fringe claims is not infrequent for Tamil related articles. Doug Weller talk 17:17, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Tristan and Isolde (Egusquiza) you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of A. C. Santacruz -- A. C. Vandalism or Misleading Information?

Hi, thank you for your attention to the article Indonesian Malaysians. But someone keeps changing the information listed. As an Indonesian, I can confirm that this is a mistake because Anak Dagang (Foreign Malays) means Non Malay Malaysians =/ Indonesian Overseas. One must remember that the term "Indonesia" is a modern construct and only came to prominent following the Indonesian revolution in the early 20th century. Dutch East Indies Citizens, Srivijayans and Majapahitans definitely were not Indonesians. In the same way, you cannot equate the modern Italians with those Romans of antiquity, "Italian" is a modern identity. Thanks in advance🙏

Hi, I can't tell which or whose edits you're concerned about. My only edit to Indonesian Malaysians was regarding some unattributed copying that had taken place. If you see something in the current article that needs to be fixed, feel free to edit that page directly or start a discussion on the talk page. Thanks! Atlantic Studies Global Currents

Dear Dan,

Thanks for your edits for the Wikipedia page I am trying to start for the academic journal Atlantic Studies: Global Currents. I am confused that it popped up as copyright infringement. This text was not copied from anywhere. In fact, I am working with the Editors of the journal to create this page, and they provided me with the text they want uploaded on the page. I can send it over to you for review if that would be helpful. Thank you, Emily Berquist Soule, Ph.D. ˜˜˜˜PacoTheSheepdog — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pacothesheepdog (talkcontribs) 18:49, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Pacothesheepdog: here is the report where your draft was flagged as a potential copyright violation because there was substantial overlap with text from this page: https://journals.theasa.net/journals/name/atlantic_studies_global_currents/821/. Click "iThenticate report" to see the overlapping text highlighted in red and you'll see that it was almost all of the draft's contents. The text has not been released under a compatible license so it can't be copied to Wikipedia verbatim. One more thing – since you are working directly with the journal's editors to create the page, please read the conflict of interest guidelines to learn how to provide the required disclosures. Thank you! Let me know if you have any questions. DanCherek (talk) 19:07, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The article Tristan and Isolde (Egusquiza) you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Tristan and Isolde (Egusquiza) for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of A. C. Santacruz -- A. C. DYK for Tiger Flowers (book)

On 4 January 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Tiger Flowers (book), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a woman in Texas attempted to have Tiger Flowers removed from the library collection at her daughter's school? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Tiger Flowers (book). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Tiger Flowers (book)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hook update
Your hook reached 8,753 views (729.4 per hour), making it one of the most viewed hooks of January 2022 – nice work!

Terri Hardin

I saw your message about the information I added to Terri Hardin's page. I wasn't copywriting any of the information that was added to her page. It is from an article that I wrote. It is all in my own words. How do I go about fixing it? Thank you. I am new to this. Supermanfan1979 (talk) 23:25, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Supermanfan1979[reply]

Hi Supermanfan1979, welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for your contributions. Since the material has been previously published, there are a few extra steps that are needed to verify that the material is compatibly licensed with Wikipedia—meaning that it can be shared, distributed, transmitted, and adapted by anyone, as long as they provide attribution. The easiest way to do this is probably by contacting the Volunteer Response Team via the instructions at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. Sorry if this seems a little bureaucratic, but it's important to verify that the text is properly released under a compatible license. Thanks! DanCherek (talk) 23:29, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi can u check and review this draft as you do edits and have experience in entertainment industry. २ तकर पेप्सी (talk) 09:51, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Title error

Hi, Thanks for your message about my mistake the other day. Whilst working on a separate page I came across Bert Hitchen where his page title is wrong (should be Albert Hitchen). I left a message on Talk:Bert Hitchen, but could you sign post me as where to report errors similar to this in future please? best, tom Tom hutchison4 (talk) 00:44, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If Albert Hitchen is the proper title, you can move the page yourself by following the steps at Wikipedia:Moving a page. If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request the move at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests. Hope that helps! Draft:Human_Mind_Project

Hi DanCherek, thank you for your comments on the draft page I started Draft:Human_Mind_Project. I am new to wiki editing. I think this entry is still a draft, isn't it, and I am in the process of improving it before submitting. I started this draft by copying another entry this is why some portions of that copied entry are still there - when I finish drafting those will be removed. Please let me know if this works. I am happy to get other recommendations from you.Humannine (talk) 12:40, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Humannine. It's still a draft and you are welcome to re-use text from other articles on Wikipedia, but please be sure to always provide attribution in the edit summary if you are copying from other Wikipedia articles, even in draftspace and even if it's just temporary. This is technically required by the terms of Wikipedia's license since the text was written by other contributors – and being a draft isn't an exemption to that requirement. Hope that helps. Thanks! Untitled message from JosephMChapman

Take down the Larry Dale Brimner article, it’s lousy, poorly written and inaccurate. and he’s a thief and a scam artist. Brimner says on his web page he’s written more than 200 childrens books since 1987. How? By plagiarizing, theft and copyright infringement.

I know that first hand. I license my own photography from 1960s Civil Rights. He sought a license for a 2010 book “Birmingham Sunday.” Unwilling to pay my standard license fee, he bought a bootlegged copy and stole my copyright fee.

He never paid a dime for the stolen property. GE should known about copy right given all of his boasting about how many he holds.

He is now trying to republish “Birmingham Sunday” book in paperback and had his publisher contact me. It took me a while to dig through my files. My first thought was an absurdly high figure. Instead, Ijest refused.

I would not license that photo or any other to him. He’s already robbed me once and my impression is that I’m not the first.

If someone wants to do an article, it should be accurate and engage with the low work quality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JosephMChapman (talkcontribs) 03:36, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@JosephMChapman: Sorry, I have no idea what your message is about or why you are asking me about this. The English Wikipedia does not seem to have an article about Brimner and I have never heard of him before your message. DanCherek (talk) 04:22, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, I see that the Larry Dane Brimner article does exist, though I only made a minor edit to the page back in November. Regardless, he seems to be a notable person so the article will not be deleted. I don't know anything about your dispute with him, sorry. That sounds like something you will have to try to resolve outside of Wikipedia. DanCherek (talk) 05:21, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Gerda Arendt: Happy new year my friend! The snow looks awesome, I hope you had a good time skiing. It's too warm for snow here in the southern U.S. though we did have some flurries at the start of the new year (no accumulation though). Thanks again for your help with Ludwig Zottmayr. My last article of 2021 was Helena Braun, and I made some changes based on your suggestions from today. Much to learn! DanCherek (talk) 18:31, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
