Cut and paste move

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Television transmitter a different title by copying its content and pasting it into TV transmitters. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Meanwhile, I have merged the page histories of the two articles. --Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:47, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Battles of Ramla

Nedim, those 3 battles are listed under Fatimid-Crusader War and except for the 3rd battle of Ramla had no Seljuk Turks involved. Instead of clearing the entire thing, change the heading Seljuk-Crusader War to Fatimid-Crusader War, if you like. :-D Do you think the 3rd battle should be left under the Seljuk-Crusader War heading? If not, I have no problems with it. Thanks. --Kansas Bear (talk) 15:22, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

A question about the analytic solution for free fall time

The problem you referred to on the gravitational acceleration discussion page is known as "The Kepler problem for radial orbits". I recently solved this problem and it is now available at: Free fall#Inverse-square_law_gravitational_field --Norbeck (talk) 07:38, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

"Sledgehammer" plot

Dear Mr.Ardoğa,

Since you are a Turkish speaker could you please add the interwiki of the article "Sledgehammer" plot which I have created to the respective Turkish Wikipedia article which I am sure alredy exists? I cannot do it since I do not know Turkish. Maybe you would also add some information to this article. Olegwiki (talk) 07:17, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Emblem

Hello! My understanding is that, due to the fair-use policy outlined by Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria (namely, "Restrictions on location. Non-free content is allowed only in articles (not disambiguation pages), and only in article namespace"), it is impossible to use a non-free image (such as the METU emblem) in a userbox, and such uses are removed by an automatic system when encountered. I would suggest using a freely licensed photo (perhaps of the tree of science) for that purpose. Unfortunately, it seems like my "wikibreak" is going to last a bit longer than I anticipated. But I spared some time to do an overall improvement of the METU article. Regards, Atilim Gunes Baydin (talk) 00:36, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Ottoman history classification

Hi Nedim! By the modification of the said template, I was inspired from the Template:Sultans of the Ottoman Empire. I am not a historian, so I can say nothing about your recommendations. Please feel free to change the eras if you are sure. BTW, my appreciation for your efforts and contributions on Turkey-related articles. Cheers. CeeGee (talk) 21:21, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

D 400 highway

I noticed that you constructed a highway navigational template to be added to all cities. This IMO is not a good idea. These have the potential of proliferating to the extent of overwhelming the topic itself. There are hundreds of roads leading into Paris, for example! I would like to ask you to delete it and remove it from the articles. Thanks. Student7 (talk) 14:05, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

I agree about Turkey, but these things will spread. Once started and allowed, some people working on highways will see that they proliferate. Proliferation is the problem, not Turkey or Nigeria. It's the G10 cities I'm worried about. Student7 (talk) 15:32, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Kostantaniye

Hi Takabeg,

In English Wikipedia it is too difficult to keep the name İstanbul (or Istanbul) in history articles. Somebody changes it to Constantinople on the ground that İstanbul came to be used only after 1930. The only source for this claim is an ambigious circular of the Post Office to ban the address Constantinople in 1930. I am sure that by 1930, Constantinople (actually Kostantiniye) was already out of usage. But so far I couldn't find any on-line proof of this. Do you by any chance have any source to show when İstanbul bacame the name of the city ? Thanks. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 12:24, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Selam. Takabeg (talk) 08:46, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Selam. Takabeg (talk) 04:53, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Ashina Jiesheshuai

Selamlar

Selamlar.Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 06:21, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Batı Göktürk kağanlarıyla henüz ilgilenemedim. Ondan Tardudan sonra yok. Zamanla halledecez. tr:Göktürk kağanlar listesi de yarıda kaldı. Güzel kaynakları biliyorsanız tavsiye eder misiniz ? Yılmaz Öztuna'nınki iyi değil :) Görüşürüz. Takabeg (talk) 07:26, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi Nedim, I took the license to merge Ahmet Riza into Ahmed Riza. Can you see if you can expand a little that article? It's a Turkish polymath and a very important character in the creation of the new Turkish state. Thank you and thank you for your very useful recent contributions! --Sulmues Let's talk 13:53, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the compliment. I'll see if I can contribute to the article Ahmed Riza. But as far as I can see, it is already a balanced summary. By the way, I couldn't understand why the title has been moved. The Arabic name is pronounced as Ahmad, but in Turkish (Ottoman and modern) words ending in d can't be pronounced and the letter d in the ending is transforned to t. So in Turkish there are no names with d ending. Well not very important, but I felt I have to remark. Have a nice day. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 13:40, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
    • If that's the case, feel free to transfer everything to Ahmet and redirect the Ahmed. I think some expansion is really deserved by Riza, because he was a great personality at that time, DYK material for sure. Anyways wp:NODEADLINE. Bye. --Sulmues Let's talk 16:32, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 00:42, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Batı Hun

Selam. Seljuks of Turkey meselesi

Tekrar selam. Birde şunu söylemek istiyorum: Günümüz Türkiyesinde Anadolu Selçuklu Devleti olarak bilinen ülkenin adı Rûm Selçuk Sultanlığı idi. 1930'li yıllarda Anadolu Selçuklu Devleti adı icat edildi. Daha sonra İbrahim Kafesoğlu v.s. sentezcilerin öncülüğüyle Türkiye Selçuklu Devleti (Seljuks of Turkey) sokulmaya çalışıldı. Fakat Allah'a şükürler olsun, yerleştirilmedi. Hanedanın adı değil de Anadolu'daki Selçuklu toplulukları ifade etmek için Seljuk Turks, Seljuk in Anatolia, Seljuk of Anatolia terimlerinde sorun yoktur, bence. Fakat Anadolu Selçuklu Devleti ve Türkiye Selçuklu Devleti, tabi bunun İngilizce çevirleri bilimsel açıdan sorunludur. İyi çalışmalar. Takabeg (talk) 06:03, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
