Chase Coy
I really need help keeping the Chase Coy page alive. Wikipedia doesn't see the significance of Chase Coy because they think he is a "myspace musician". Altho Myspace is where he got his start, Chase Coy has been featured on the Best New Folk Artists of 2008 playlist on iTunes. His music has had over 9 million plays and he has sold over 70,000 songs. Please help mee keep the Chase Coy page alive by adding to the talk page and objecting to the deletion! Thanks in advance!

I am about to undertake cleanup of this page. However, before I do I would like to get a consensus from this group as to what the best format is. Currently, the page is a mess of different formats (i.e., no tables, and two different types of tables). So - should the page be tables, or no tables? If tables, which of the formats listed, with school colors or without? The ultimate goal is to make all the information uniform without putting in too much information, if that makes sense. - In my opinion, either a table for each county, or a one large, sortable table with county as a field, would be best. I would include in each table - School Name, School District, County, Location. It could eventually be expanded to include the school website, number of students, grades in the school. I think the school colours, mascots, and sports information should be in secondary tables. I agree with Charles that a single table would be nice, but it wouldn't sort because there are so darn many; stick with counties for now. I'd say to include name, city, website, size, grades, and profile. I'd rather not include the ever-changing principal, and only do colors/mascot and athletic conference if you want; those are on a separate list of IN conferences. Coordinators' working group
Hi! This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.
If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none

GA Sweeps invitation
This message is being sent to WikiProjects with GAs under their scope. Since August 2007, WikiProject Good Articles has been participating in GA sweeps. The process helps to ensure that articles that have passed a nomination before that date meet the GA criteria. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. Instead of reviewing by topic, editors can consider picking and choosing whichever articles they are interested in.
We are always looking for new members to assist with reviewing the remaining articles, and since this project has GAs under its scope, it would be beneficial if any of its members could review a few articles (perhaps your project's articles). Your project's members are likely to be more knowledgeable about your topic GAs then an outside reviewer. As a result, reviewing your project's articles would improve the quality of the review in ensuring that the article meets your project's concerns on sourcing, content, and guidelines. However, members can also review any other article in the worklist to ensure it meets the GA criteria.
If any members are interested, please visit the GA sweeps page for further details and instructions in initiating a review. If you'd like to join the process, please add your name to the running total page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles from the worklist or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. With ~1,300 articles left to review, we would appreciate any editors that could contribute in helping to uphold the quality of GAs. Election results
I have found a great book called Congressional Quarterly that has the detailed election results of all the gubernatorial elections and federal election results for Indiana between 1824 and 1975. There are updated version with post 1975 info, but I haven't been able to locate a library near me with one of those copies which cost $400+. Anyway, I think putting all these election results into an article would be a fantastic thing to do, but I am not sure what is the best route to take and though I would ask for some input. I was thinking of several things. I have already got a lot of the gubernatorial elections in Governor of Indiana along with help from Reywas and the rest of those could go there, or maybe the entire list moved to a sub article like Gubernatorial Elections in Indiana, or something similar. For the US House results, I was thinking that either the results could be put onto the congressional district articles, or create a Congressional Elections in Indiana article. My thought is that the scope and makeup of the districts have been altered many times, so perhaps listing them all on the district page might not be so informative. But then again it would be easier and neater looking probably. The third option would be to create an article for each Congressional election cycle, like United States House of Representatives elections in Indiana, 2008 going all the way back to 1824. But then should we rename it Congressional elections and include Senate races also (going back to 1912) or make the Senate articles separate. Those are just the options I thought up. I was hoping I might get some input as to what other thought would be best before I undertake creating a bunch of articles. I have checked out the other state projects, and there is nothing similar to this in any of their projects.
On a side note, this book contains the info for every state and if it turns out well on our project I suppose I could use to get congressional election data up for all the state projects. I can see that taking a few months though.. lol. —Charles Edward (Talk | Contribs) 02:19, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- That's great! I think the only ones missing from the Governor article are 1964, 68, 72, 76, 80, and 84. I wouldn't be opposed to splitting that off, but it's not necessary. I could even make it more compact with a table format similar to Electoral history of Nancy Pelosi (maybe I could make that into an even more compact template).
- For House elections, perhaps the easiest would be on the district articles. Yes they've completely changed over the years, but we have to live with that anyway. Other states have articles for every single year, but that would be 90 new articles, which isn't necessary unless we find more in-depth info than just the results. But that also means IN-1 would have 92 elections on it.
- Senate elections are separate, so they should never combined with the House. For that I'd go with Senatorial elections in Indiana, with articles for an individual year only if there's more info beyond the results, i.e. the most recent ones which already have articles. More info is also by-county results, which I don't know where to find. Thanks for taking the time to add these! Reywas92Talk 16:52, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Pageview stats
After a recent request on my talk page, I added the Indiana project to the list of projects to compile monthly pageview stats for. The data is the same used by http://stats.grok.se/en/ but the program is different, and includes the aggregate views from all redirects to each page. The stats are at Wikipedia:WikiProject Indiana/Popular pages.
The page will be updated monthly with new data. The edits aren't marked as bot edits, so they will show up in watchlists. I can also get provide the full data for any project covered by the bot if requested, though I normally don't keep it for much longer than a couple weeks after the list is generated. NRHP list-articles
There's recently been good development (if i do say so myself) of the National Register of Historic Places listings in Indiana. A current issue though is how to split up the counties of Indiana into regional groupings, in order to split out the state-wide list. Temporarily, county lists are being split out into separate tables / articles, one for each county. These can be grouped back together into regional area list-articles. Greenwood Note
I made a note in the Greenwood discussion about the possible addition of more information to the page. Right now it's bland, and too population-driven. I'd like to see a Notable Places section, possibly referencing locations such as Olde Town Greenwood, Craig Park, and the general shopping area (around US 31 and Co. Line). What do you think? A bot to add project banners
In looking through out categories recently, I have found alot of Indiana related articles lacking project banners. I was curious if anyone would object to seeing if we could put in a bot request to have all such articles tagged with our project banner. That would place them into our unassessed quality category. From there they could easily be checked out to make sure they are within the project's scope and assessed for quality and importance. We have 641 categories by my counting and I have created a list of them in my sandbox. We could give the list to the bot group and request that each cat be checked to ensure that the articles within them are all tagged for our project. I was thining of requesting this later this week, if anyone objects, or has a better way we could do this, or something specific to add to the request please let me know. —Charles Edward (Talk | Contribs) 15:17, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
A bot has recently carried out this request, and about 4,000 articles are now in the unassessed categories. I am currently working through them and as I have time, to assess them, and determine if they are truly within the scope of the project or not. Changes to popular pages lists
There are a few important changes to the popular pages system. A quick summary:
- The "importance" ranking (for projects that use it) will be included in the lists along with assessment.
- The default list size has been lowered to 500 entries (from 1000)
- I've set up a project on the Toolserver for the popular pages - tools:~alexz/pop/.
- This includes a page to view the results for projects, including the in-progress results from the current month. Currently this can only show the results from a single project in one month. Features to see multiple projects or multiple months may be added later.
- This includes a new interface for making requests to add a new project to the list.
- There is also a form to request a change to the configuration for a project. Currently the configurable options are the size of the on-wiki list and the project subpage used for the list.
- The on-wiki list should be generated and posted in a more timely and consistent manner than before.
- The data is now retained indefinitely.
- The script used to generate the pages has changed. The output should be the same. Please report any apparent inconsistencies (see below).
- Bugs and feature requests should be reported using the Toolserver's bug tracker for "alexz's tools" - [1]

Indianna banner transcludes the Alerts.

Indiana Historical Society
Just an FYI, I have contact the Indiana Historical Society to see if they would be willing to release a portion of their image archives under the terms of the GFDL for use on the Wikipedia. I am not sure how they will respond, but it would be really great if they would make available some of their images. Territorial expansionism by Indiana Wikiproject??
For some reason, Return J. Meigs, Sr. has been twice tagged for this Wikiproject, and I've now removed the template twice. The article subject was born in Connecticut, made major contributions in Ohio and Tennessee, and died in Tennessee, but I see no hint of Indiana in his bio. My best guess is that he's tagged because Northwest Territory is linked in the article about him, but that does not make him an Indiana person.
If the bot is being asked to tag all Northwest Territory-related articles for this Wikiproject, it's probably expanding the Wikiproject's territory far beyond the borders of Indiana! --Orlady (talk) 15:31, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- He was tagged due to inclusion in Category:Northwest Territory officials which is listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Indiana/Categories; if this category is too wide it should be removed (and its members examined for other erroneous Indiana tags). Note also you can use {{bots|deny=Xenobot Mk V}} to prevent Xenobot from tagging a page. –xenotalk 15:35, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- The Northwest Territory encompassed the entire region of modern Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan. As a result, Category:Northwest Territory officials is of interest to this Wikiproject, but it is not reasonable treat every person in that category as being relevant to the Wikiproject.
- I don't necessarily want to ban Xenobot from ever tagging the Return J. Meigs, Sr. page -- I just want it to quit tagging the page for the Indiana Wikiproject. --Orlady (talk) 15:41, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- Sure, someone from Indiana should confirm that the entire category isn't really in their area of interest and remove the category from the bot's worklist (and tag manually). =) That way the "deny" won't be necessary. –xenotalk 15:45, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- Parts of the category are definatly within Indiana's project scope. John Johnston (Indian Agent) for example. Northwest Territorial officials are also within the scop of the project as predecssors to the officials of the Indiana Territoy. Where is/was Wendell College?
I'm trying to track down the college mentioned in Monica Sone's memoir, Nisei Daughter. She says that during WW2, she was allowed to enroll in Wendell College in Indiana--but I can't find any mention of this school online other than her book. She says the school was in the southern part of the state, on the Ohio River, and affiliated with the Presbyterian church. Did the school change its name or close? Thanks.
