Photo

[edit]

Any actual evidence that the photo is actually of Musa balbisiana? I'm pretty sure it's a photo that's been making the rounds as a "wild banana" and not specifically this species. Positively identified photos of M. balbisiana fruits show a fairly different fruit morphology. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mortrek (talkcontribs) 19:43, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing direct really. But there's a photo by Ploetz of M. balbisiana here, and you can identify this by comparison. The angularity and thickness of the fruit in the photo also makes it likely to be M. balbisiana (as opposed to M. acuminata).
But how come? Can you give a link to a diagnosis or a reliably ID'd picture of M. balbisiana that makes this unlikely to be one? Of course, if you happen to have unambiguously identified photos of M. balbisiana, donating one to Wikipedia would be much appreciated. -- Obsidin Soul 01:26, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Both the banana crops website and the link to the particular product on http://www.banana-tree.com are not working. I never saw the original pages. I am just trying to draw attention to this. Triscal (talk) 02:35, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
