General tone

[edit]

As one of JT's doctoral students, I feel the wholesale importation of stuff from her Times obituary gives an unfortunate hagiographic tone to the article. JT was an important historian of the English early modern period but the article currently gives the impression that she was a dominating figure, which I don't think she would have claimed to be (she was a modest, unassuming woman). If I get chance I'll try to tone things down a bit. --Ef80 (talk) 01:03, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Revisiting this article 6 years on, I'm pleased to see it's much improved both in tone and content. Thanks to all who contributed. --Ef80 (talk) 14:32, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
