Mari Boine Persen

[edit]

You guys should also mention that this singer also goes (or went) by the name Mari Boine Persen. That's how her older albums are titled, that is. -andy 80.129.119.119 04:51, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

đ versus ð

[edit]

Please refer to the Sami languages entry for correct orthography. If the Sami languages entry is incorrect, then please correct it. -- Takwish | Talk 18:35, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The correct letter is U+0111 (đ), not the Icelandic ð. -Yupik 11:27, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

the drum

[edit]

Apparently, according to a book "Dreaming with Open Eyes", she uses an African drum rather than a Saami drum because the association of the drum with shamanism scared a lot of people away from her music.(83.13.39.98 (talk) 20:51, 2 April 2008 (UTC))[reply]

track lists

[edit]

There should be 10 tracks in "Goaskinviellja", but article lists 11 tracks.

There should be 12 tracks in "In the Hand of the Night", but article lists 14 tracks.

There should be 9 tracks in "Eallin", but article lists 10 tracks.

Though I'm not 100% sure, maybe there were some releases with bonus tracks.

albums list

[edit]

According official site there are several albums, which are not listed in the article.

Many of the Sápmi words appear to be misspelled, lacking diacritics and such. For example, track three of Radiant Warmth is listed as Cuovgi Liekkas, which needs to be spelled with Č as is apparent from listening to Mari Boine's pronunciation,a nd as it's spelt in Leahkastin list. Wilsonsamm (talk) 10:23, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Wilsonsamm, Welcome - if you know how to fix the spelling, go ahead and indulge yourself. Not many people on Wiki would have caught that - which makes you the ranking expert... Take Care. (PS, I combined the first paragraph with this one as they are relevant.) Dinkytown (talk) 18:51, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with this biographical article

[edit]

Problems from an outsider's view-- I just came to make an infobox which was lacking!

  1. First, in one part of the article, there's a city mentioned as where she was born, and in another place, it says she was born in a little town. Which one is it?
  2. If she once used three names and now only uses two, please explain what those three names signified (were there two surnames)? A nickname? Was she married? Did she drop one name for musical fame? What?
  3. A very short link should be made to the Sami people, or it should be explained who they are.. what is a Lapps.
  4. The introduction looks like it contradicts itself, first mentioning that Boine was invited to come sing but said no, thinking she would become a "token" minority.. but right after that, it says that she was made a Knight for her diversity. What is it?

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but this is frustrating, since these biography articles aren't an altar to worship our favorite musicians, but they are here to educate people about things they did not know! Last- the only inline reference in the article isn't in English. Is it Sami? Norweigian? Finnish? --Leahtwosaints (talk) 23:17, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The sentence on "Gula Gula" realease by Realworld seems to imply that it was deliberate to hide the face/name etc... It was in fact a Realworld standard not to display the name of the artist or the album on the front cover and let appear a full picture. Information was only available on the back cover, with the track listing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.46.214.60 (talk) 17:25, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
