Mike Sweeney's latest music project

[edit]

Mike Sweeney and Paddy O'Hare are two musicians who’ve come together to write, record and perform their own interpretation of ‘Roots’ music. Taking a cue from The Blues, Country, Folk, Rockabilly, Rock n Roll and influences from the likes of Elmore James through to Woodie Guthrie, Mike and Paddy use a mix of acoustic and retro-electric guitars, harmonica, banjo, mandolin and cajon to produce a unique amalgam of all of them. A five track EP of original songs will be available at the end of 2012 titled "Walking Down The Line", more information can be found by searching "Mike Sweeney and Paddy O'Hare" online. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PJRocker77 (talkcontribs) 17:44, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Following the current text on the page: "Mike is currently working for Real Radio XS Manchester, breakfast show from 6am until 10am. Mike also has a musical side: he still sings with The Salford Jets and an acoustic offshoot The Road Runners. In the summer of 2010 Mike was fronting the new line-up of 60's legends The Swinging Blue Jeans.Mike also takes lead vocals with 60s hit band The Mindbenders[2]" Please follow it with this additional information because The Road Runners has now developed into a duo called "Mike Sweeney & Paddy O'Hare" that goes out as a 5 piece with other musicians, here is the additional info: In 2012, since The Road Runners had become inactive, Mike began a collaboration with singer/songwriter/guitarist Paddy O'Hare to develop acoustic material under the bracket of "Roots Music". The duo known as "Mike Sweeney & Paddy O'Hare" has written and recorded a 5 track debut EP "Walking Down The Line" which is set for release in 2013, and are currently playing the live circuit augmented with 3 other musicians. So, the Road Runners didn't develop into a duo, they stopped and Mike is now in a new duo? Banaticus (talk) 19:52, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I was unable to load the Manchester Rocks website but added as much as I could using the two sources that would load. -- Dianna (talk) 17:37, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes that's basically right Banaticus. Thanks for doing that Dianna that's great. Also an update on this is that the EP is set for digital release on Itunes/Spotify etc on 9 August 2013. Next question would you be able to add "Paddy O'Hare" as a page to drill down into provided some biog information? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by PJRocker77 (talkcontribs) 16:22, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Place of birth

[edit]

Mike's place of birth is given as "Rudman Street, Salford, Lancashire".

Rudman Street (now Rudman Drive) is/was in Ordsall (M5) which at the time was part of the (old) city of Salford (originally the County Borough of Salford 1844-1974 - city status granted 1926). I.e NOT the current City of Salford (since 1974).

Therefore, his place of birth should be ammended as follows. "Rudman Street, Ordsall, Salford, Lancashire". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.150.233.69 (talk) 23:16, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Salford, Greater Manchester refers to the settlement at the core of the current city. The current city is at City of Salford. County Borough of Salford refers to the government district that was abolished in 1974 and had the same boundaries as Salford, Greater Manchester. This article is fine as it is; any others you have changed should be swapped back. Mr Stephen (talk) 00:07, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
