Burial

Some websites show Swainson was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery[1] when Find A Grave Memorial clearly show he was buried at Oakhill Cemetery [2]^{[dead link]}. Both cemeteries are located in Manchester, MI. Jjmillerhistorian 14:01, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Political Graveyard says Oak Grove Cemetery. So does "Michigan Governor John Burley Swainson". National Governors Association. Retrieved July 15, 2012.. However, I find more persuasive the pictures reported to be from Oak Hill Cemetery at Find a Grave. corrected link John Burley Swainson at Find a Grave which now shows Oak Grove. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 20:40, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

George Romney didn't walk with MLK and Swainson

This news article from 1963 [3] describes George Romney declining the invitation to accompany MLK and Swainson on the "Walk for Freedom." Romney declined because, as a Mormon, he did not wish to walk on a Sunday. That was the reason as reported at the time by the NY Times, as repeated here: [4].
