Surname

[edit]

What is the etymology of her surname? Badagnani (talk) 23:49, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It means "hood" or "cowl" in Polish.76.199.7.22 (talk) 13:27, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ross Perot running mate?

[edit]

"Interestingly, in 1996, Ross Perot offered Kaptur the VP spot on the Reform Party ticket (she turned him down)." http://www.politics1.com/dems04a.htm Шизомби (talk) 20:55, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Position on the bailout" section

[edit]

This section reads like a press release. Is it really necessary to go into such detail over one item? It seems mainly to focus on making Kaptur look good. Slac speak up! 02:16, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Examination of Paulson

[edit]

Very impressive performance by her in this congressional committee - stuff like this will make history:

Position on abortion

[edit]

I've removed the term "moderate"from the description of Kaptur's position on abortion. This is a very sensitive topic where there is probably no "moderate" position in politics. Since she has even gone so far as to vote to ban the use of stem cells in federally funded research, and has also opposed privately funded abortions at overseas military hospitals (on which she later changed her position) it's fairly clear that the more appropriate descriptor would be anti-choice, with the government inserting itself between a pregnant woman and her healthcare provider specifically to limit her personal autonomy and preempt the role of the expertise of the medical practitioner in this field. --TS 10:42, 14 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

MIT?

[edit]

what does it mean she "did doctoral studies" there? did she begin the Sc.D. but drop out?

either way, why isn't MIT in the infobox? was she actually enrolled, or is this all some kind of (brief) "visiting scholar" thing? 2601:19C:527F:A660:98C5:BC23:7848:641C (talk) 00:05, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
