Album Sales in intro
Many artists such as Justin Timberlake and Mary J Blige note the amount of worldwide album sales they have had. I think it should be mentioned that Beyonce has solo sales of over 15 million records and career sales of over 60 million records

Title Change
The title of this page needs to be Beyoncé instead of Beyoncé b/c she dropped Knowles. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by CKMusic107 (talk • contribs) 03:11, 19 December 2006 (UTC).
- No...No change in her name is needed. Although Beyoncé is well-known by her first name for music, she is usually credited as "Beyoncé Knowles" in movies. For example, here's Beyoncé in a Dreamgirls promotional poster and the credit for Beyoncé in the Dreamgirls movie itself. lwalt 05:58, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
First name only
This needs to be changed to just "Beyonce", as several people have noted. Beyonce is most known for being a singer/songwriter, and her stage name is "Beyonce". The only rationale against this that i've seen was that she's credited in movies using her real name, but this is a convention used in movies very often for "crossovers". For example, in the films "Four Brothers", "Revolver", and "Idlewild", Andre3000 is credited by his real name "Andre Benjamin", yet his wikipedia page is still titled "Andre3000", as it should be. How can you look at the movie credits and decide on that, but ignore her album covers? The fact is, no one ever ever ever ever refers to her by her full name. It is retarded that this hasn't been changed.Theonejanitor 11:06, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Why does this entire Beyonce profile read like a P.R.
.... piece from a record company or PR agency?
Take a look at any other pop celebrity of Beyonce's level (like Brooke Hogan, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Brandy, or Monica) - look at other pages and there's plenty about those people that is less than "perfect" (with no little cute warning signs about posting potentially libelous items!).
This is pathetic to think that Wiki is being used and abused as just another PR tool for another pop celeb-diva. If Wiki allows people to post controverstial, debated, and scandalous items about others (especially dead stars who cannot defend themselves) - why does this pop celebrity like Beyonce get a free pass?
I guess because her label or PR agency made a few donations to Wiki to see it done right! hmmm.

I think your comments sound like some crazy conspiracy theorist's rants. Beyonce's bio reads pretty much the same as most celebrity bios on Wikipedia. It basically lists her accomplishments as an entertainer. I do not personally think she is that talented; however, she has undeniably had a lot of commercial success as an entertainer, which is why she is famous. The article focuses on the aspects of Beyonce's life which make her noteworthy. What the heck do think the article should talk about?
The only controversy involving Beyonce concerns her alleged mistreatment of animals--involving her decision to wears fur and to sponsor a clothing line which has fur and leather items, and also her decision to tape an alligator's mouth shut for a photo shoot. This controversy is highlighted in the bio and is not glossed over.
By the way, the reason dead stars bio's don't have the disclaimer about libel is because there is generally not a claim of action for libel against a dead person (I know there are some exceptions, but this is the general rule).
No one bought off Wikipedia. You bitterly gripe about the article, but you don't offer any suggestions as to what "dirt" the article should include about Beyonce. HMMMM.

Accent
Does the accent on the E imply that her name is pronounced be-yon-CE —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.188.172.165 (talk) 01:03, 15 December 2006 (UTC).
Well, in English it doesn't. It only makes the "e" sound like an long "a".
- The accent in Beyoncé helps the reader pronounce it Bee-yon-say. Without an acute diacritic the name Beyonce would be pronounced Bee-yons. Her name rhymes with the word "fiancée". --Speakslowly 07:01, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Where does the name beyonce originated from?
Beyonce was named after her mother's maiden name, in order to carry out the family last name since there was a shortage of males in the family. I know many people of different backgrounds visit this website, and may know people from their country with the last name beyonce. Can someone from a different culture, tell me where the name came from? I believe it is french or italian. beyonce grandmother(tina knowles mother) appears to be a bi-racial.
Actually, her mother's maiden name is spelled "Beyince", but it is spelled the same way. Tina Knowles just changed the "i" to and "o" to make it look more like a first name.
- In this article, Beyoncé's mother explains the decision (and her own family's reaction) behind the name Beyoncé - Beyonce's name sparked family controversy. (2004, February 18). Platium Celebs. Retrieved December 29, 2006. lwalt 07:56, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Whistle Register?
Why was she removed from the whistle register category? I thought we had agreed that the C6 she hit in "Happy Face" qualifies her for the whistle register. Jdot01 06:59, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Vocal Ability?
Well, first I must say I'm impressed by Beyonce's vocals on her track "listen", and I'm a fan. However, I find it difficult to believe she has a 4 octave range, and is compared to the artist this new section says she is. I think if there are no references found in a certain time, then it should be deleted. It just seems like a over-hyped fan spitting out non-sensical romance words. Mforeman 03:47, 22 February 2007 (UTC)mforeman
well people beyonce does not have a four octave vocal range although you fans may want her to she does not and what the range the public sees her of having is not right she does not have a 3.2 octave nor does she have a 4.2 octave is interviews with her she is quite capable of only hitting between 3.0 octave notes and 3.8 octave notes so dont change anything okay you guys are so hype about her just calm down okay
All I know is that if beyonce has a 4.2 octvave, then kelly should have 4.4 cuz they can hit higher than b,michelle should be a 5.0 . and why does her vocals keep being deleted!!!!!.
No......Kelly doesn't have a higher range thatn Beyonce. Beyonce's range has to be around five octaves in my opinion, because her lowest not is like an A2. I heard her do something really really low while she was doing her runs at the end of "Dangerously In Love", and she hit a C6 in the Destiny's child song "Happy Face," but I'm sure she can sing in the whistle register higher than that. I wish she would use it again so we could know for sure.24.164.197.116 00:12, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
People, I seriously think you need to go and read the article "octave". A piano has eight. Beyonce's range is more like 2.5-3 octaves. Mjbjosh
- Okay...and this was relevant how? Beyonce's lowest note that I've heard is a D2. her hightest note that I've heard is a E6. E6 – D2 = 4 octaves. Get it now? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jdot01 (talk • contribs) 04:09, 14 May 2007 (UTC).

Best selling girl group of all-time?
According to Wikipedia's own list of best selling musical artists, The Andrews Sisters have sold 75 million or more, which is likely to be over 25 million in excess of what Destiny's Child has sold. – — … ° ≈ ≠ ± − × ÷ ← → · §71.52.91.79 17:03, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- well...Destiny's Child can be considered the #1 selling female group of the 21 century technically. JWG
That list is innaccurate. Destiny's Child has sold the most worldwide of all time.
Sasha
There should be a section about Beyoncé's alter ego, Sasha. What do you guys think? Funk Junkie 17:00, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Absolutely! It's all she ever goes on about.
- This (Sasha) is just a way for Beyonce to pretend she is Shakira. Beyonce has copied her for years. Beyonce has an obsession with Shakira. Why does she get her stylists to buy weaves that look like Shakira's hair?????
Three number one singles in Japan?
Very dubious indeed. The japanese market is notoriously difficult to crack for an american artist. Only five english-language songs in history have ever reached the number one position on the official Japanese singles chart. Double check this —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 137.132.3.7 (talk) 09:42, 23 January 2007 (UTC). How can that be right? Irreplaceable and pop genre
Someone put information about Ne-Yo writing all lyrics and Beyonce coming up with the melody. It's true and was removed. I think it is reliable. I am a Beyonce and Destiny's Child fan, but I knew something was weird when you look in Beyonce's B'Day booklet there are too many songwriters' names on the songs. I think she didn't write any of the songs.
Also what happened to Beyonce's pop genre. She is a pop singer. Pop music is not about race and style. It is about melody and catch. Read what it's about. Pop music TheWoogie 17:48, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
An important fact needed
one thing that most people don't know, is that beyonce refuses to pay her backstage singers proper wages, and treats them like dirt. no, not just dirt, like crap.
I think that this should be added to wikipedia, to note her good points as well as her bad.
I heard this info from the radio: 89.3 KOHL —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.6.128.179 (talk) 02:01, 6 February 2007 (UTC). aziela
- That source isn't good enough, 'the radio'. Which radio station did you hear it on? When? Who said it? How did they say it? This all matters. I'm not saying that your thing about her treating her backstage singers is untrue, but we need more info before it can be included in the article. 212.139.171.139 17:10, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Does every story on Wikipedia need a Controversy section?
It seems that in almost every article I read, there's a controversy section that gives a stage for some random advocacy group to voice their opinion about the subject. Is this really necessary? It's usually radical organizations like Peta, who want to advocate their own opinion in nearly every subject. Eating meat or wearing fur does NOT make that person controversial. I think a system needs to be put into place at Wikipedia that limits the ability of advocacy groups to make every article their platform.
- Proposal: The way the section reads (at present) in this article, PETA basically executed a publicity stunt. The stunt had little to do with Beyoncé and more to do with PETA. As a result, it seems hardly relevant to this particular subject. One editor made the point in his/her edit summary that it's notable because it was covered in the press. However, that raises the question over whether or not every incident the press covers should be included in a subject's biography. I would argue that it isn't. At any rate, in this case, I think it would be useful to create something along the lines of a "List of Celebrities Confronted by PETA" which includes a brief description of each documented incident. Sections such as the one discussed here would certainly find a home there. Thoughts anyone? Rklawton 21:50, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- Agree. I moved it to the Peta article under the heading Celebrities attacked by PETA but that was reverted and the section placed back into this article. My header was worded bad, I do "like List of Celebrities Confronted by PETA." better. And yes I think it has no place in this article. Purgatory Fubar Converse or Snafu 22:04, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- I removed the section from the PETA article because it is already mentioned in their article (see 2006 in PETA#Timeline), and it was placed into the article with an extremely POV title as you stated. I have cut down the section in the article. Maybe it needs to be moved or merged into another section, but there is no reason to remove it completely when it is notable and well referenced, might as well remove the "Philantropy" section which has absolutely no references. This article reads with an extreme positive POV about Beyonce. It's no surprise that the one thing that is not completely positive about her is being continually removed. The section does not attack her; it just states a fact, a fact that was reported in the mainstream media and continues to be controversial. I also fail to see how the sourcing is not proper as you stated on my talk page. Firstly, the section is sourced by articles from The Sydney Morning Herald and BBC; I don't see how we can get any better/notable sources than those. Secondly, it is one of the few sections in this article that actually cites reference, compare it to the trivial and extreme fancruft in the "Records and achievements" section, if anything is not notable it's that stuff. --musicpvm 01:54, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- I think the citations are fine - except the YouTube link. We have no citations to show that the YouTube link is the correct video, and fakes abound. Rklawton 04:47, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Could we use the cover of [[B'Day] for the image of Beyoncé until another picture of her is available? --CrazyBusLive-Online 23:44, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

However, using any copyrighted picture to illustrate her does not work since the picture would be replaceable. ShadowHalo 07:16, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

She appeared with the original Destiny's Child members in the Jagged Edge video for "I Gotta Be" in 1997.

Solo then with the rest of the original Destiny's Child in a cowboy hat Nas and Ginuwine - You Owe Me

Vocal Profile (again)
Here's what I was thinking of putting in Beyonce's vocal profile, but I didn't want to add it because it would just get deleted. Please correct me if you have other information.
Classification: Dramatic-Mezzo Soprano
Highest Full Voice Note: F#5 in "Free" by Destiny's Child
Highest Note: E6 in "Happy Face" by Destiny's Child
Lowest Note: D3 in "Bills, Bills, Bills" by Destiny's Child
Estimated Vocal Range: 4.1 octaves Jdot01 22:41, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Vocal Profile
In the Destiny's child tour (Destiny Fullfilled... ans loving it tour) she goes lower than a d3 and it is on the song bills bills bills, her full voice can probably be on listen and yeah the e6 in happy face sounds right —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 198.59.40.145 (talk) 22:12, 9 March 2007 (UTC).

Why some fans keep adding fake data sales for Beyonce's albums????
Everysingle day someone writes that Be's Wembley cd/dvd sold 2 million in the US... i guess this is beacause it's certified 2xPlatinum by the RIAA, but platinum for Videolongform are for 100,000 copies shipped, not a million like for albums!
The same fake thing with DIL sales, which sold 8 million worldwide according to her sites, not 11 million...
It's quite easy to know the worlwide and US sales of B day as it's still charting and we can have accurate data, so please, stop putting fake sales, as it will only make this article an unreliable source!
Who keeps deleting the vocal profile?!
All of the information there is verifiable. Do I need a source for her classification or something, because I know I don't need one for the notes she sang.Jdot01 13:44, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- You need to cite a reference for all of it. It looks like original research to me since it doesn't have a citation. It's also been the subject of some controversy in this article (I'm not sure why - I didn't follow it that closely) and the best way to resolve that controversy is with unambiguous citations supporting the asserted facts. --ElKevbo 14:41, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well it would make sense for the song to be the research. I'm willing to look for a source on her vocal classification though, because I've seen that somewhere before.Jdot01 16:21, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- I think you need a reference stating that "In song ___, she ___ (hit a particular note, held a note for a period of time, etc.)." It would be original research for us to claim to have listed to a song and identified a particular note as the highest, lowest, longest, etc. --ElKevbo 16:30, 13 March 2007 (UTC)beyonce is a english soprano
- Well it would make sense for the song to be the research. I'm willing to look for a source on her vocal classification though, because I've seen that somewhere before.Jdot01 16:21, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
this is Brittney
- Its hard to say exactly what Beyonce is cause she can more than comfortably sing Alto. Her lowest I've heard was a Bb2. And her highest was only E6 and it was kinda shouted. I think in order to be a soprano she should be able to hit C6 easier than she does. Kelly does it easier than Beyonce. Shes a Mezzo or alto. Myke 05:26, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well that's the definition of being a Mezz-Soprano. A Mezzo-Soprano isn't a full soprano, but they can sing alto comfortably and soprano also. Kelly is a Spinto Soprano, because her comfortable register is higher than Beyonce's, but Beyonce's vocal range is higher. I would appreciate it if someone could help me find a source for the vocal profile.Jdot01 23:29, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Since no reliable info is available, I think we will have to stick by her "showbiz age". Mjbjosh
Summer time
I'm no particullar fan of Beyoncé but I have done research on her and over and over again I've come across information that states the single release of a song called summer time from "The Fighting temptaions" soundtrack. i know the song doesnt have an official music video but that doesn't make it any less of a single. even Billboard.com documents this single in her discography. The article is here. I suggest an article should be made for the single. Ratizi1 00:50, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

beyonce rox
What the heck
y is this under the personal section?
In early 2007 Beyonce shattered the hearts of millions of fans by replacing her right hand with a hook. She said it helped her produce music because it gave her the inspiration needed. The accusations of Beyonce sleeping with monkeys that was started earlier in 2007 were not true, not entirely anyway, she slept with sheep instead. The neighbours said "we didnt think anything of the strange noises at night because Jay-Z acts and looks like a sheep anyway" they said. 71.114.1.28 02:16, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm motioning that the following be incorporated into this article in some form:
Agnéz Deréon, later Agnéz Beyincé (1924 – 1984) was a Louisiana native whose surname and passion for creating beauty from the mundane is the inspiration for the clothing line House of Deréon, a fashion line founded by her daughter Tina Knowles, and granddaughter Beyoncé Knowles.
Agnéz Deréon (pronounced dare-ay-on or duh-RAHN) was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Self-taught, she became a well known professional seamstress catering to private clients in Louisiana. She was accustomed to tailoring pieces that stood out by decorating the fabrics she used with such embellishments as embroidery. Incorporating materials such as lace, beads and jeweled buttons, were just some of the ingredients that Deréon used to make her style unique and her own.Deréon later married Lumis Beyincé, taking her husband's surname to become Agnéz Beyincé. The couple relocated to Galveston, Texas where they raised their family (some of the Beyincé relatives still live in Galveston). Both Beyincé and her husband were of French-speaking Louisiana Creole (or French Creole) descent; having African, French, Amerindian, Spanish and Indian ancestries[citation needed].
The Beyincés were a poor, yet upwardly mobile family. The couple made many sacrifices to see that their children matriculated through private school and received a proper education. The Beyincés were very devoted to their children and encouraged their involvement in the arts.
Among the couple's posterity are a daughter,Tina Knowles, and a son (name unknown; he is Angela Beyincé's father). Their grandchildren are Beyoncé Knowles and Solange Knowles, Angela Beyincé and great-grandson Daniel Juelz Smith Jr.
Beyoncé's first name is a tribute to the Beyincé family name [1]. The rare surname, Beyincé, is of French origin and faces extinction since there are no male descendants in the family with the Beyincé surname who will pass it on.
Middle Name
Beyoncé's name is Beyoncé Giselle Knowles and unless someone has a trusted cite that proves ha middle name is "Chantelle" n' not "Giselle" nobody don be putttin dat back...>=| me + ma sis luv us sum Pretty Ricky!(wat waz dat?) 02:13, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Unlisted Singles
There have been some disputes as to wether or not "Get Me Bodied" is a single so i did some research. i found a site (musicstack) that is an online store for vinyls and i don't know if i can properly add it as a source. Here it is. in my research i found out "Amor Gitano" was a single here along with "Lost Yo Mind/Creole" here and "What's It Gonna Be" here —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ratizi1 (talk • contribs) 06:19, 13 May 2007 (UTC).
hey you guys
listen you guys need to stop changing beyonce's album sales okay if you look at 2003 in music they say that dangerously in love has sold 4.98 million in the united states and that was wrong cause according to billboard her album was certified 3x platinum in march of 2004 and then 4x platinum on july 2004 then 5x platinum in september 2004 go look at the billboard then it sold only 8 million world wide and you guys need to put her net worth that was estimated about $36 million! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bey-andte (talk • contribs) 15:54, 15 May 2007 (UTC).
BEYONCE BUMPS KELLY FROM THE COVER OF VIBE!!
Beyonce is a beautiful woman with 50 children that live with diffrent men. Nuff said. May 04, 2007. Last week, MediaTakeOut.com reported that Vibe magazine had decided to put Beyonce on the cover of its latest issue. But we didn't tell you how Beyonce managed land the cover. You see, it turns out that Kelly Rowland was originally set to be Vibe's cover girl - until Beyonce had her way.
MediaTakeOut.com spoke exclusively to a person who works at the magazine. And according to the insider, Vibe promised the June cover to Kelly months ago. The insider explains, "Usually, we try and give the cover to an artist whose album drops that month. So for example, we had R Kelly [who's album Double Up drops May 29th] on the cover of the May issue ... When Kelly announced that she was releasing her comeback album in June, we set her to cover the June issue."
But according to our insider, everything changed once Beyonce learned her label mate had landed the cover. The tipster explained to MediaTakeOut.com, "About a month ago, we started hearing that Beyonce wanted to do an interview with us - so we jumped at it." The insider continued, "Usually when Beyonce gives us an interview - we give her the cover ... but we figured that since [she] and Kelly are so close, she wouldn't ask us for it."
But Beyonce's reps reportedly demanded that she be on the cover. Tells the insider, "They were basically like - if you don't put her on the cover, then don't expect any interviews in the future ... We almost couldn't believe what we were hearing."
Kelly Rowland and Beyonce are both managed by Beyonce's father, Mathew Knowles. Her latest album, entitled Ms. Kelly is set for release next month.Beyonce and Kelly are best of friends, stop hating' and shittin' everywhere 'bout two of these beautiful young ladies..........~this was edited by Caroline Malala A.K.A Giselle
