Robin Finck (born November 7, 1971) is an American guitarist, most famous for being the current co-lead guitarist of the American hard rock band Guns N' Roses. He was also previously the live lead guitarist for the American industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails. Finck is one of only a few artists who has played in two different bands listed on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock", Nine Inch Nails (ranked #43)[1] and Guns N' Roses (#9). [2]
Career
Finck grew up in Marietta, Georgia and played with several unsigned bands in the Atlanta area during. [3]
He joined Nine Inch Nails as part of their touring band in 1994-95 for their Self-Destruct and Further Down the Spiral tours. Finck appeared with Nine Inch Nails at Woodstock '94,[4] and saw his first official release with them, the Closure video, come out in 1997. [5]
Once the tour was completed, he took a job playing for the circus troupe Cirque du Soleil in the original tour of Quidam.[6] In 1997, he was recruited by Guns N' Roses to replace Slash, who had just quit the band that year, and worked on their still-yet-to-be-released new album, signing a two-year contract. When the two years were up, the album had not been completed, however, one single was released; Oh My God, featured on the End of Days Soundtrack.
Finck rejoined Nine Inch Nails as the band embarked on their Fragility v1.0 and Fragiliy v2.0 tours. [7] These tours saw the release of another live album/DVD, And All That Could Have Been, Finck's second release with them. [8]
Shortly after the tour ended in late 2000, he returned to Guns N' Roses and toured with them in Brazil, Asia, Europe and North America during 2001-2002. [9] Today, Finck handles lead guitar duties with guitarist Bumblefoot.
In the summer of 2006, Guns N' Roses toured Europe playing in front of an estimated 750,000 people. [citation needed] They finished up by touring North America for the remainder of the year.
Personal life
Robin has been married to acrobat Bianca Sapetto since 2001. They met while working in Cirque du Soleil and currently have no children. [citation needed]
