Sine Novela is an Philippine award-winning day-time soap aired on GMA Network which showcases old classic movies from VIVA Films turned into a mini-series.[1]

Origin

In 2006, GMA Network started to serialized films into a TV series though most of it was called as Fantaserye like Darna, Captain Barbell, Bakekang, Joaquin Bordado, Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita, Dyesebel and Mga Mata ni Anghelita.

Sinasamba Kita

starring Sheryl Cruz, Wendell Ramos, Carlo Aquino and Valerie Concepcion

They are half-sisters, connected by blood. But to Divina, Nora is just her late father's illegitimate daughter. Yet, despite the harsh treatment she gets, Nora remains awestruck and continues to adulate her strong-willed older sister. But even the meekest of people can only bear so much. Nora leaves the comfort of home to find her own place under the sun, and in due time, she and Divina are to meet again to settle the score once and for all.[2]

Lupe is born into poverty but her dreams are for a better life. She cares for her crippled mother who is also her harshest critic. Poor, crippled persons normally engender feelings of pity, but Lupe's mother adds to the burden and is the metaphor that represents the title of the movie -- Lupe carries her mother on her back as she begs for alms.[5]

My Only Love

They are teeners trapped in the conflicted world of their parents. Two children of two marriages gone sour. Albeit Shane tries to hold the family together, the mother becomes inconsolable and demands that she return the boy to the orphanage. Now, Shayne must make the painful choice whether to keep her brother or submit to her mother's wishes.

  • Sinasamba Kita was nominated for two categories at the 21st PMPC Star Awards for Ttelevision, they were Best Actor for Carlo Aquino and Best Daytime Drama Series. The series won the latter.

2008

Ratings

The series never failed to rate on Mega Manila TV Ratings. As of today, Saan Darating Ang Umaga? holds the most successful Sine Novela because of capturing a primetime rating of 29 despite of its afternoon time slot. It was also a consistent top rater on National Ratings via NUTAM and TNS.
