George Martin Lamb (born 20 December 1979 in Dundee, Scotland) is a British radio and TV presenter.

Career

Lamb presents on BBC Radio 6 Music; his show mixes banter with his DJ co-host Marc Hughes, interviews and listener-led discussions with an eclectic mix of music, much of which is 'Old Skool' dance, hip hop and northern soul. The show won the Sony DAB ‘Rising Star’ Award at the 2008 Sony Radio Academy Awards[1]. However the show also attracted widespread criticism from listeners for its "zoo" style (see for instance [1]), which they regarded as inconsistent with the principles of 6 Music. Despite this the Lamb show had the highest weekday listeners figures of any 6 Music show (see [2]), and this show is still going from 10am - 1pm Mon. to Fri.

Lamb hosted E4's music show, Freshly Squeezed. Lamb replaced Dermot O'Leary as the host of Big Brother's Little Brother when it returned on 6 June 2008,[2] which he eventually took over on his own after his co-host Zezi Ifore received poor reviews.

He also co-presents the ITV2 show The Fashion Show, with models Abigail Clancy and Michelle de Swarte.[3]

In 2007, he replaced Alex Zane as the host of the second series of BBC reality show Celebrity Scissorhands and returned in 2008 for the third series. He has also presented The Restaurant and Road To V.

The George Lamb show is due to be demoted to Saturday and Sunday mornings 7-10 from the 5th December, with Lauren Laverne replacing Lamb in the weekday slot of 10-1pm as of the 30th November 2009.

Music management

He managed the band Audio Bullys and also the pop singer Lily Allen whom he met in Ibiza.[4]

Personal life

Lamb is the son of actor Larry Lamb[5]. His mother Linda is an entrepreneur George has 2 younger sisters called Eloise and Eva-Mathilde. [3].[6] He supports Dundee United.[7] and Fulham F.C.[8].

Controversies

Lamb's 6 Music show has proved controversial, provoking rival anti- [9] and pro- [10] petitions and both unfavourable[11] and favourable [12] reviews.

In May 2008 Lamb was reprimanded for appearing to pledge his support on air for Boris Johnson in the London mayoral race.[13]
