Take a look at Daeva - same thing? I'm no expert on Persian mythology, but that seems like the two words might just be different transliterations of the original Farsi. --SquidSK (1MClog) 02:35, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It certainly sounds likely that they are related. I do not know enough, and it's not obvious enough for me to clonclude these two sets of beings are the same thing though. I'm not saying they aren't either. I wonder if it is a situation sort of like with Zeus and Jupiter (or take your pick of Greek deity and Roman counterpart) where they are "the same", but there's enough differentiation that they merit separate articles. Deletion of part of your post

I'm sorry about the deletion of part of your post; it seems that was a fluke in the software. See User talk:SebastianHelm#Inappropriate deleton of content from ongoing AFD discussion for details. — Sebastian 21:21, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, OK, thanks for the message. I admit I was offended (as you can tell from my edit summary). I'm glad to know it was not deliberate on your part. I guess weirdness happens. LadyofShalott 21:24, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Excuse my adding a comment (had this page on my watchlist) ... About a week ago or so, I saw someone removing two previous edits when they saved their comment to a talk page. It infuriated two people (one was me), but it appears they were not given an "edit conflict" warning (or other indication of problem). The AfD instance may not be the same issue ... but there there may be some kind of intermittent technical glitch that has crept into the code. (I don't know who to talk to about this, but perhaps you do.) Proofreader77 (talk) 21:42, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This is a public page on a wiki - feel free to jump in anytime, Proofreader. As for who to talk to, I suggest taking it to the technical village pump. This is not a good thing, especially if similar things are happening on a regular basis. LadyofShalott 21:46, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks. I've done 5,000 reverts of vandalism, but only now getting my bearings on where things are discussed within Wikipedia (rather than just user and article talk). I'll raise the issue at WP:VPT (now that I know about it :-). Cheers. Proofreader77 (talk)
Follow up: The technical answer is ... Happens from time to time ... since time immemorial. (lol) So we must simply remember that software is not as perfect as we come to believe it is — and so when our fellow editors appear to be doing something no sensible person would do, let us pause and consider that they may not have. :-) Which I think is already the consensus here. Cheers. Proofreader77 (talk) 07:43, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for posting the follow-up! LadyofShalott 07:47, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And thank you for teaching me where to ask. (WP:VPT) Proofreader77 (talk) 07:56, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm touched by how you learned from this. Now, reading your random observations gives me a nasty idea ... I hope you'll forgive me. — Sebastian 22:17, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

LOL - I love it! LadyofShalott 22:22, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also, since I haven't said so directly yet, I do apologize for jumping to the worst conclusion before. LadyofShalott 07:47, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Don't mention it! Even if you had offended me, there would be no more need for an apology. Your spontaneous "observations" edit proved that you not only regretted it, but sincerely decided to learn from it. What more could an apology give me? — Sebastian 08:36, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

UNM Lobos Basketball

I noticed you added another tag to the 2009–10 New Mexico Lobos basketball team and also making it a candidate for deletion. Instead of marking it or taging it for deletion why don't you work with the editors who are trying to make the page better? It takes a team effort. I look forward to working with you. Thanks. ZekeW (talk) 23:25, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Are you in?

Are you in for the 2010 Bacon Challenge? If you are, of which country will you identify as? I'm guessing United States but I cannot tell for sure. Thanks.--Sky Attacker the legend reborn... 03:19, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll certainly do some copyediting/categorizing/general gnomish work on articles for it. I may or may not write an article for it. Yes, US is correct. :) LadyofShalott 07:41, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. See User:Sky Attacker/Bacon WikiCup 2010. By the way, the "proposal" about CoM is from Drmies not me. ;)--Sky Attacker the legend reborn... 08:49, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great News!!!

Bacon materializer

Unable to resist bacon's temptations, rogue editors have kicked off the Bacon Challenge 2010 event even before the New Year starts! This is a fun and collegial event and all are welcome. There are many non-pork articles for editors who object to or don't like messing with pig products and this year's event includes a Bacon WikiCup 2010 for those who may want to keep score and enjoy engaging in friendly competition. Given the critical importance of this subject matter, I know you will want to participate, so remember to sign up today and get started A.S.A.P. Shiny Barnstar!

The Society Barnstar
I hereby award you this Society Barnstar for your help in cleaning up List of male performers in gay porn films which helps advance the general understanding of the given society of these performers. When others offered less than inspirational criticism you instead acted and helped clean-up a topic that needed help. -- Banjeboi 00:20, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, thanks, Benji! :) LadyofShalott 02:56, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

UNM Lobos

Well... you're just going to leave it marked as? Majority or not, 9 members still agree that there was never a reason for it to ever be a candidate for deletion. It is a Divsion 1 university FYI. I find it very odd, especially since this team is almost nationally ranked. A page such as this: 2009–10 UNLV Runnin' Rebels basketball team where there is really no useful info to the reader. A shame people's hardwork on this site, people have no respect. Especially when they donate to it. Hope to work with you in getting this problem solved. ZekeW (talk) 06:52, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Saying it should be kept is not the same as saying it should not have been nominated. I made my nomination reasons clear. I have no problem with the consensus for keep - I just thought we needed to have the conversation. LadyofShalott 06:58, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Assistance

I am inviting members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Religion who work with NRM in on the discussion of Move/name change/notability/merge discussion on New England Institute of Religious Research Currently 3 users seem to have reached a roadblock in discourse with Cirt (talk · contribs).  Done Commented. LadyofShalott 20:26, 9 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
LadyofShallott, since you voiced your opinion in part based upon something John Carter said, I would like to tell you that he may have been mistaken. I looked through every addition of the work he mentioned and it turned up nothing. I'm waiting to hear what he says about it, but I would really appreciate it if you returned to have a look sometime. Thanks.PelleSmith (talk) 00:48, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I scooped you

Sorry! As you can see from my user page, I'm interested in that sort of thing regardless of the bacon contest. In fact, if they'll allow it, how's about we "credit" you with the article and the DYK? I'm also working on Guinea Hog and Hereford (pig breed) articles, but if you want to take one of those or any other, let me know and I'll be hands off until you move it into mainspace. Steven Walling 00:32, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it may be sort of pointless, but I did wonder about a history merge of my sandbox with the article. You are generous to offer the credit for the bacon contest and DYK. You certainly deserve the DYK credit - your article is better than mine was shaping into anyway. Otherwise, I was frustrated at first at what felt like wasted effort, but I'm over it now, and I enjoyed learning about the Ossabaw Island Hog. When I looked at the list of pig breeds, that redlink caught my eye because of Ossabaw Island, and then it had all that fascinating history. It was just my bad luck that we went for it at the same time. I'll stay away from the Guinea Hog and Hereford articles, and will let you know if (when) I decide to tackle another pig breed. Of course, collaboration makes me happy, and if you are ever interested in working together on an article, I'd be glad to do so. :) LadyofShalott 06:17, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. Have you joined the bacon contest? It looks like it would be up your alley. LadyofShalott 06:17, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sock puppet?

Seriously do all the "investigating" you want. But I know I'm not one. I love working on wikipedia, but I have never had a previous account. Hope to work with you in the future. ZekeW (talk) 19:27, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
