artist's book

A photo would be good. Of the guy too I guess since it's a biography. The content is still a little bit abstract for me. What did he write for the artist's book? Descriptions? Hmmm... yeah, a photo of one of the books would be useful. I'll have to see if I can get that. I've got a photo of him, but I have to see about getting proper permission/lisensing for it. (I've not uploaded an image here before, and I want to do it properly.) I need to find out more about the books - it would be nice to fill that out some. Thanks for you edits to the article. Heh, the baby powder thing I did a while ago, but forgot about it when I initally made my list of articles. It popped up in my watchlist today when someone vandalized it. Anyhow, the problem with Rolf de Heer, is that normally I add photos to musicians work groups. This is an alternative WAY cool television and film producer. I wasn't trying to bait him. I just don't like me or a couple of my friends here on Wiki being called "trolls" by someone who doesn't know the meaning of the word and shouldn't go around calling names once they just came off a incivility block. Was it harsh? Yes. But I feel my statement was necessary to get through to him that his behavior is not necessary and will cause him more problems than good. You did not explain yourself properly when you came to my talk page. This is bizarre because it concerned the first contribution of an anonymous IP from Cheltenham. That is why the tone of your message was quite inappropriate. If this had been a known user fine, but it wasn't. Please be more careful in future. Did you notice the banned sock of Gregory Clegg (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) who posted immediately above you on my talk page as 32.141.255.213 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)? BTW I just looked at the editing history of A.K.Nole (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). I believe he is wikistalking me. He has already tried to declare my username illegal (reported at ANI), so I have ceased to assume good faith with his edits. He hasn't edited my second recent article, but has put tags on one of the main wikilinks in the lede of Chateau of Vauvenargues, i.e. on Bastide (Provençal manor) which is hardly something you find by accident given the cedilla. He seems to be making trouble for himself. Unlike him I will dig up a reference, which is not particularly hard. If you don't do anything about this, I know other administrators (who incidentally respect the privacy of emails without being asked). Mathsci (talk) 08:54, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

I hope you will not object if I comment here, since I have been mentioned by name and Mathsci has levelled some serious charges against me -- charges which I emphatically deny. For the record the anonymous IP was indeed me, for some reason my signin had failed. (I added my signature to some but not all of the edits I made when I realised that). The geolocation is not accurate by the way, I believe the IP range covers Gloucestershire -- Mathsci is very sensitive on the subject of outing and he will no doubt extend the same respect to others. The username issue (not what Mathsci states) was thrashed out at AN/I and archived here where you will see that no-one saw fit to propose, let alone take any action against either Mathsci or myself: there can be no good reason for Mathsci to raise it again. The Bastide link was publicised at another AN/I report here where Mathsci had brought charges against another editor, who had misunderstood the rather rare way in which Mathsci was using this unusual word. You will see that I spend quite a lot of time correcting minor errors in, raising questions on and deleting unsourced material from random articles; I have dabbled in AFD discussions, reporting copyvios and improper usernames; I have spent very little time at all interacting with Mathsci or articles that he has previously edited. I have twice formally notified Mathsci at his talk page that I find his behaviour towards me threatening [1] and uncivil [2]. Since you have been caught up in this, I wonder whether you would be willing to give a third opinion. I believe that the suggestions I have made at Talk:Butcher group have been intended to improve the article, and in fact User:Mathsci has adopted all three of them (acknowledging one openly). At the same time he has adopted a very negative attitude, characterising my comments as trolling and frequently suggesting that I deserve to be blocked for them. Am I way out of line here? Is he? A.K.Nole made this edit [3] where he copied and pasted material from one one wikipedia article Butcher group out of context and without sources into another. This was disruptive editing. What is quite sad about A.K.Nole's editing in this case is that he seems totally unaware that the passage he copied only makes sense in the original article. Besides that he doesn't seem to understand that the physics stub is written in the language of physics and concerns the general case of renormalization that uses Feynman diagrams not the "toy models" I have written about. A.K.Nole's edit summary describes the Butcher group article as "excellent". All this adds up unfortunately to disruptive behaviour. So far in his editing career, A.K.Nole has not added any substantial content to wikipedia. Other expert editors have been usefully editing Butcher group which lies between 3 scientific disciplines: pure mathematics, computer science and theoretical physics. MathSci, I think AKNole does seem to be asking reasonable questions. As for the mathematical triviality issue, stating it just the way you did on this page, less the problematic edit complaint, was all the response needed. As for the copy of content into another article, AKN did attribute it to the originating article; I'm not sure what could possibly be wrong with a comment of "excellent". As for whether the addition of the actual content was appropriate or relevant to the article, that is a content dispute upon which I am not qualified to comment. I see you have reverted the addition. If AKN thinks it should be there, you should continue that discussion on the talk page of Minimal subtraction scheme, seeking input ~~from other editors of that article, and possibly~~ from other members of the math and physics projects. AKNole, I would caution you not to get into an edit war over this (this is not to imply you have previously). Ladyof Shalott 16:45, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, you too! I had to pull up the diff. to find your message. I notice you made some edit to Zanthoxylum americanum and asked questions in the edit summary. I've expanded it a good bit since then, including some info on what it's used for. Your question about where the oil comes from is a good one, and my sources address that. I'll add a line about it. I'm also about to add something about butterflies that feed on it. I'm finding enough that I hope I can get a DYK out of this. (BTW, there is a difference in pronunciation between Shalott, something like shuh-lott', and shallot - of course, more like shall'-ut). I do like to eat onions though. Hey there. I've noticed the discussion at Casliber's page and wanted to point out two quick things: Roughly, plant articles are written in a style more akin ton in-depth, a but non-technical field guide, hence why we don't usually put authorities in the body text of the article (lists are a different issue, though). Another point is that the discussion regarding the ordering of sections is a bit moot as the generally agreed section order for a basic article is description→taxonomy→distribution + habitat→other sections as appropriate (the detailed breakdown is here, but don't take it to heart too much. Only a few article will have even 2/3 of those sections.) Circeus (talk) 15:39, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Apocalypse Image

I could see a few problems with it, potentially. Unfortunately, Christian eschatology is not my strongest suit, so I may myself be far less than the best judge of it, and might even be myself mistaken. I would think that the Christianity project would be the better place to raise the issue, because it's a bit more active so far as I can tell (I may be prejudiced there, of course) and the subject seems to me to be, basically, exclusively a Christian one. Re [9]--I'm sorry, that holy claim just went too far, but I'm sure I overreacted and I'm glad you reframed the sentence. My colleagues were tickled this morning when I told them what the article claimed (the school is around the corner from us), and what, no doubt, the kids are taught there at a hefty sum. Lady, I am sorry I forgot to report on the drywall at one of Montgomery's finest institutions--but there is nothing to report there. The computer lab did look very nice, but not because of the presence of Dell computers. It is clean and new, that's the nice thing about it. Unlike public schools in this state, which don't seem to have the money (easily explained by our tax structure) to spend on such niceties as buildings and renovations and computer rooms and central air, the private places are decking their stuff out nicely. Thank you so much. Hey, do you know who or where to turn to to ask questions about uploading both GDFL images under Creative Commons and non-free images? The Flickr upload tool doesn't work anymore, and I can not find one single person willing to explain how to upload at least the free images there. I am going INSANE! The guy who built the Bryan Flickr tool to upload them no longer works with Commons. I can't figure out how to do it manually. Where can I (and four other editors-- one with a couple FA-articles he wrote single handedly under his belt asking ME!) find out the rules and maybe get somebody to walk us through the process? I mean, I ask people to give up their copyrights, in exchange for attribution, and now, they are saying, "Hey, what happened to my photos?" And I'm the slowest one in the world to learn that stuff. I can hardly figure out how to set my alarm clock. However, when that upload tool worked, I sucessfully uploaded hundreds of needed photos- many of which you can see on my user page. I'm willing to help you, but as I said on my talk page, I don't understand what you mean by "both GDFL images under Creative Commons and non-free images". I uploaded a few images from flickr this morning (btw, broken flickr upload tool = sucks), but if that's where you're running into problems, click here or here to see how I did it. If you already know how to manually upload from flickr, and this has nothing to do with your question, then disregard my rambling and slap me with a trout. Possible spoofing

I know I've seen mention of that before. Well, I have no idea if it is Matt or someone spoofing him, but I've done nothing relative on the article or its talk page on quite some time that could even begin to provoke such a reaction (mostly I'm refraining from doing anything there for now, but I think I copyedited something slightly). For people with a certain level of technical skill it's not difficult to spoof an IP address. The accusation the IP made at my user talk doesn't look like Matt at all; it looks like an attempt to spread hate and discontent. Durova²⁸⁰ 14:58, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

There's actually a bit on Dr. Blofeld's user talk page about why he wanted them done that way. Personally, it's no skin off my nose - just as easy to change "is" to "was" as it is to add it in in the first place. I'm merely doing them that way because that's how he began them, and I thought it best to keep the pattern going. (BTW, could you please respond on my talk page? No, no, I quite understand - thanks for the kind words. Honestly, I wish there were some way to get them done a little more completely and quickly at the same time. But I find that masses of redlinks tend to be a little intimidating for a lot of people, and that if there's at least a stub waiting on the other end of the link, then people might be more inclined to contribute, at least by expanding upon what's there. Besides, Rjwilmsi has said he's willing to help flesh them out, so as long as he's OK with it I don't mind doing it like this. (Did I mention I'm hell-bent on pushing us ever nearer to the 3 million article mark? Honestly, I had hoped we'd be there by now.)

In light of the recent events I think it might be a good time to make a new project proposal at councils and organise a project which concentrates on transferring content from other wikipedias but in a way which is much more efficient and can done with no community concerns. They say it's for children 6-10 but I'm reading it to my three-year old and she loves it (she understands my Dutch perfectly). The title, well, there's the funny alliteration (also in the Norwegian translation), "pluk" is probably something like a tuft of hair (he's a little unruly), and "petteflet," I'm sure Schmidt invented that because it sounds so funny in Dutch ("flat," with an 'a' and pronounced as the English word means "high-rise"). The problem comes later, when it turns out that Mevrouw Helderder (Aagje's mother) enlists the help of a cat to kill Dollie the Pigeon: the cat is called the "Flattekat," with an 'a', and I never know if I should read /flatəkat/ or /flɛtekɛt/. (I chose the first.) I'm certain she's still laughing over us parents having to figure that out.

Homosexuality and the Baha'i Faith

Well you don't need to discuss changes unless they're controversial, but I disagree with the name change so you should go through WP:RM. The page was almost entirely written as an extension of Baha'i articles, so I think that gets more jurisdiction, if there is such a thing. The article doesn't make a distinction between lesbian, gay, or bisexual, and it doesn't address transgenderism in any way, so I took the name change as a frivolous muddying of the title. Can you help with something (if it needs help, that is).. Take a peek at a record label; the name is spelled Aum Fidelity, but everything about it, from musicians who have recorded on it, to the infobox, and references, all scream that the spelling is wrong, should be AUM Fidelity. ...I have a request to make of you, dear lady. Please bear with me, and remember that this is all in the name of science. The title of the article "Seminophagia" (and I am putting the quotes there for a reason) is a complete misnomer. An earlier editor had attempted to move it to spermophagia, and that should be the proper title, but was reverted by an editor who seems to claim some ownership over the article. The editor who redirected the page said "moved Seminophagia to Spermophagia: most commonly used in WP:RS" and that is a correct statement; seminophagia does not exist--that is, no dictionary hits, no Google Scholar hits, no Google Books hits, and what is on the internet all seems to come from the Wikipedia article. I am greatly interested in moving (and then gutting) the article, which is full of synthesis and original research; in the end, I think a section on the topic in the main Semen article is all the sources can bear. First, I have to say gross! Now that that's out of the way, yes we should be titling the article with whatever the scientific literature calls it. I don't happen to know, and have not yet tried to examine any of the cited sources. What little talk page discussion there has been looks like the argument you are making based on sources versus "this is what someone already started". If that's what it really boils down to, then the choice is clear. I have started a section on the article talk page asking to list sources which use each name. This is something we need to get right, but I don't think there's a rush. LadyofShalott 19:19, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
