Lately, I've been really stressed out with my internship work and datelines, and have been having frequent bouts of illness. At such, I am taking a wikibreak to cope with my work. I do not have the time to do heavy editing at the moment. I'll still check back here due to my responsibility towards my mentees, but I won't be able to edit at the same rate as previously. I don't know how long this period will last, but I'm expecting it to be until November or later. Hope y'all understand. Cheers, Bejinhan talks 12:07, 13 October 2010 (UTC) |

Hi. As you recently commented in the straw poll regarding the ongoing usage and trial of Pending changes, this is to notify you that there is an interim straw poll with regard to keeping the tool switched on or switching it off while improvements are worked on and due for release on November 9, 2010. This new poll is only in regard to this issue and sets no precedent for any future usage. Your input on this issue is greatly appreciated. Off2riorob (talk) 23:28, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi Bejinhan. I found you through the volunteer page, and have come to ask for your assistance. So I have recently significantly improved/expanded this article, but found that it also has been working against me. I found after working so much on the same subject, I don't realize sometimes how weirdly something is written etc. I would like to nominate the page for FA, so it needs to be perfect. I think I've done a good job, and I'd say the only issue is some MOS issues, and writing and sentencing (it's not so bad dw :)) So please, can you proof-read it from a "third party" point of view, and help refine its writing? Thanks so much Bejinhan, and I hope you can help in the matter. Thanks! :D--PeterGriffin • Talk2Me 02:15, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

I had just added a reference to this article and you deleted it. Why? It was just a reference (you said, good-faith edit)Fakirbakir (talk) 11:27, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, my bad. I misread it and thought that it was an improper addition. For an explanation of good-faith edits, please read WP:AGF. Help regarding Copy Editing...
Hello, i want your help regarding the copy editing, general fixes and grammatical mistakes in the following articles related to Meteorology.
Waiting for your reply. Regards...

- Yes, I can copy-edit it. However, I have already agreed to copy-edit another article so I'll probably get down to these two articles once I've more or less completed the other one. Would that be okay with you? Bejinhan talks 10:59, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

Malaysia article
Hey, I'm about done with all I can think of on Malaysia. Is there anything which you feel is missing desperately from the article which could be placed there? I think Culture could use more sections, but I don't see that as an immediate priority, it shouldn't stop it reaching GA or A status in my opinion. Maybe one day though, Lat will make his appearance on the main article, under some sort of literature section. I noticed that Lat is almost a FA, very nice. Anyway, as you posted the last review, any comments you have should be useful.
I'd also like to apologize if I came off as brusque or insulting in any of my comments/edit summaries etc. I never meant to offend anyone. I'd also like to commend your work on the Malaysian wikiproject, been surfing through it, must be frustrating to make all those posts and receive no response, and to have such limited participation! Chipmunkdavis (talk) 13:40, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, thank you so much for your work on that article. It looks much better than before. For it to reach GA, I think we've got to deal with the citation needed tags first. The 'Natural resources' section is just full with them. When I got the article peer reviewed, I was told that the refs have got to be in placed first before it could go for GAN. I'll try to do more sourcing for some of the CN tags.
- I actually did not noticed much of your edit summaries and wasn't offended by any of your comments. :) Thank you! I think the project is much livelier than it was before, although I'm not very satisfied with that yet. If you can contribute in any of the "administrative" tasks involved in running the project, please do! Again, thank you for all the work you put in the Malaysia article. Cheers, Bejinhan talks 13:59, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I came to the article and thought that this was an article which I knew something about. Unfortunately I'm not a big fan of anything to do with the economy :p If anyone goes through the edit history they'll notice I left economy till last. I've done some searching for the natural resource section, and can't find sources that say exactly what is in the article, so if worst comes to worst it can either be removed from the article (although through hiding, so it could still be worked on) or rewritten completely in line with whatever sources can be found. As for the citation tag in the science and technology section, I honestly have used all my Boolean skills and not found any websites about that. If you find anything, please, but I think that unlike natural resources that is a statement that can't be rewritten, and will probably have to be deleted. Additionally, I turned up some deadlinks, so I'll have to look into those later.
- I'm hesitant to get fully involved in any wikiprojects right now, but if there's anything you need doing and can't find time to do yourself, drop me a message, I'll see if I have time. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 14:11, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- Haha, okay. When I first started working on it, it was horribly unreferenced and I was having a headache finding references. It looks way better now. I tried to do some googling but couldn't find any refs for certain of the statements. Like you said, these statements would probably have to be deleted if we can't find any refs. Welcome to Assessment with Wikiproject: U.S. public policy
Thank you for assessing with the PPI, assessing with this project will probably be different than assessing with other projects in Wikipedia. It's different because the many of the articles are stub, start, or C class, and we are not working to assess long lists of articles, but will have multiple reviewers assessing the same set of articles. We are looking for Wikipedians who want to take a more in depth look at assessment and help define what is article quality. Please go to the WP:USPP Assessment page to find more details and your assessment page with the first group of articles for you to evaluate. Thanks and happy editing, ARoth (Public Policy Initiative) (talk) 21:48, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Bejinhan, thank you for assessing articles in the Wikiproject: United States Public Policy, you were really quick - i appreciate it. This project is probably different than other assessment drives you have worked on, it involves more assessment of lower ranked articles, it has input and staff from the foundation, and specific goals to improve and measure content of public policy articles. It also involves collaboration from some university classes, we are using an experimental assessment rubric, and most articles will be assessed by multiple reviewers to get a range of scores for each article. I have learned a lot from many of the assessors comments and am really excited about the insight from this group of Wikipedians. I hope you are finding some benefits to involvement in this project. 1) your assessments are part of research that is attempting to increase credibility of Wikipedia in academic circles, 2) there is a great group of assessors involved in discussion of what is article quality and how to measure it, 3) WP:USPP is also piloting the Article Feedback tool, so if interested, those involved in assessment on the project will be asked to help improve and rate this tool as well, and 4) subject matter experts are assessing articles alongside Wikipedians and comparisons of results will provide some insight as to the rigor of Wikipedia quality rating.
- To give you an update on assessment, about half of the assessments are complete for the first part of this first assessment. I had some trouble finding public policy experts to join us in assessing, but finally managed to recruit a group last week, hopefully some of them will join the discussion on the assessment talk page. Next week, I should have some preliminary results to share with you, I will also post the second assessment request very soon. The discussion on the talk page is very exciting, and I hope if you are interested, you will provide input on the Article Feedback Tool which is being piloted on articles in WP:USPP. Please let me know if there is anything I and the project team can do to make working on this project a more positive experience. Thanks again, ARoth (Public Policy Initiative) (talk) 00:02, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Idea for your Malaysia draft
Why not create a custom Malaysia barnstar? Be much more reflective on peoples work. Could be based off something like these.
Be nice to get a unique one though, maybe a Malaysian flag with the 14point star replaced with a barnstar or something. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 03:24, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for looking through the draft. Yeah, that was why I left a comment of the draft page about it(in the 'Awards' section). I have a sorta rough idea of how it could be like. My only disadvantage is that I don't do photo editing and the like. If there are no disagreements about it, I think I'll leave a note about it in the graphics request page. Hopefully someone will be able to do it. :) Bejinhan talks 03:28, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- If you like, do a really rough draft, or just describe what you would like, and I'll knock it up for you - graphics and design being my "thing". Begoon•talk 11:34, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the offer! :) I was thinking that it could be either a barnstar with the colors of the Malaysian flag or a Malaysian flag in the shape of a star. Which do you think is better? Bejinhan talks 10:08, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
- I actually quite like the "Australian medal" above for style, but if you want just the star then I could "creatively" use the colours to create the star alone - maybe blue borders, yellow 14 point barnstar, with red/white fill, topped by the crescent in yellow. I think a 14 point barnstar could be quite distinctive. Begoon•talk 13:05, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- I've not very creative, so please go ahead with whatever you think will be best. :) Bejinhan talks 11:52, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

DYK review
Hi, I was wondering if you could do a quick DYK review for hook, date, and length at Template_talk:Did_you_know#Articles_created.2Fexpanded_on_September_30 for Carlos Celdran? I moved his article to mainspace on Sept. 30. Thanks in advance! ɳorɑfʈ Talk! 21:22, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, Noraft, but this is a bit too much of WP:CANVASS for my comfort; the best way to speed up the DYK review process it to review the suggestions of other editors.
- Given the nature of this request, I'm posting this response on all three user pages.
- It is probably best to keep replies in one place; I humbly suggest User_talk:Chzz#Quick DYK review? Chzz ► 01:43, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Explanation given
WP:BLANKING, a rule, states Policy does not prohibit users, whether registered or anonymous users, from removing comments from their own talk pages, Even if s/he is a sockpuppeter s/he is not removing neither of those:
- Declined unblock requests, ban, validly-imposed edit restrictions and confirmed sockpuppetry related notices, this last is in his/er userpage.
- Miscellany for deletion tags
- Speedy deletion tags and requests for uninvolved administrator help
- For IP editors, templates in Category:Shared IP header templates and notes left to indicate other users may share the same IP address.
{{Noindex}} added to user pages and subpages under this guideline (except with agreement or by consensus). Note this can safely be removed from talk pages and subpages where it has no effect.
Yes I checked the history of the page, and the user, blocked or not, sockpuppeteer or no, he did not violate the rules above. TbhotchTalk C. 17:46, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, the main reason why I asked for that explanation is because I'm wondering how you came across that page, since the change wouldn't be in 'Recent changes' as it had been done some time prior to your reverting. Hm? Bejinhan talks 00:32, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- If you are thinking in this? No. As simple as this. TbhotchTalk C. 01:22, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- No, I was thinking more along the lines of this. I'm very wary of that user and I think he can do anything possible, even that. Anyway, thanks for the explanation. Bejinhan talks 02:23, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

your template is having some problems
- On User talk:Hcookeecs, My name (Ling.Nut, not Bejinhan) shows up as the person who placed the template, at least when I am viewing it, because you used "revisionuser". That's obviously wrong. You can feel very free to go back through my contibs and edit the template. Personally, I would suggest that you simply retire that template and use the good ol' stand-bys such as {{welcomeh}}. But to each his own. • Ling.Nut 02:08, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I don't really understand the intricacies of templates... how do I use "revisionuser"? Perhaps you might want to leave your suggestion here so that they can be aware of it? A number of ambassadors are using it, and it works fine. Bejinhan talks 02:16, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Apparently it does not work fine; in fact, it's quite hosed. But I thought it was yours. I was mistaken. I'll leave a message elsewhere. • Ling.Nut 02:31, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
PPI Assessment Update
Thanks for contributing to WP:USPP, your assessments are a part of a deeper look at assessing article quality in Wikipedia. The quality and rationality behind the assessment scores by the Wikpedians on this project is really impressive, it is an insightful and knowledgeable group. There is some information about preliminary results of assessment data on the project assessment talk page, I hope you check it out and add your thoughts. There is also an additional article assessment request for you. This assessment set will wrap up the first experiment which analyzes the consistency of the quantitative metric and compares subject matter expert assessment to Wikipedian assessment.
The second experiment will start in November and you will be asked to assess articles and also provide feedback on the Article Feedback Tool. The results of that experiment will compare your idea of article quality to the ranking from the Article Feedback Tool and your input will help improve that tool. I hope you enjoy being a part of this research, I am pretty excited about the results so far, and am looking forward to continuing to work with you on assessment. ARoth (Public Policy Initiative) (talk) 21:46, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Happy 10/10/10
I suppose I should've timed this message at 10:10:10 too, but frankly, I can't be arsed. You know how it is.
Did you know... that tenten in Japaense writing are a little wiggly thing, a bit like a quotation-mark, which makes e.g. "ka" (か) into "ga" (が) or "fu" (ふ) into "bu" (ぶ) ?
So, take time out to have a bit of a giggle.
All the best, and 10-10 'till we do it again. Chzz ► 08:49, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Greetings, the Wikipedia Guild of Copy-Editors invites you to participate in the November 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive, a month-long effort to reduce the backlog of articles that require copy-editing. The drive will begin on 1 November at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on 30 November at 23:59 (UTC). The goal for this drive is to reduce the backlog by 10% (approximately 500 articles). We hope to focus our efforts on the oldest three months (January, February, and March 2009) and the newest three months (September, October, and November 2010) of articles in the queue.
Sign-up has already begun at the November drive page, and will be open throughout the drive. If you have any questions or concerns, please leave a message on the drive's talk page. Before you begin copy-editing, please carefully read the instructions on the main drive page. Please make sure that you know how to copy-edit, and be familiar with the Wikipedia Manual of Style. Awards and barnstars A range of barnstars will be awarded to active participants, some of which are exclusive to GOCE drives. More information on awards can be found on the main drive page.
